Have Vegetation Options for Low PC
chris_heyward replied to HugoDayZ (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
The prices have changed a bit but sure. Bear in mind that I bought all of these when there was an offer on them so I got them cheaper than normal. Doing a price check now and I converted it to Euro for you. Specs are: CPU:..................AMD Phenom™ II X4 975 Processor Black Edition, ~3.6GHz (€150. This is normally the most expensive) RAM:.................8gb (2x4gb) Corsair Vengeance (€40 for 2) Graphics Card:.....NVIDIA GeForce GTS 450 (I got mine off eBay unused for £30/€36 but brand new you are looking at close to €90) Motherboard:......Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3 (€91) Also, looking up now, I may have exaggerated £150... lol. Just went through the receipts and its around the £210 mark (roughly €253). This was a year ago and by the looks of things... prices have shot up big time :( -

I think the main reason you are getting such serious lag is your integrated graphics card. Integrated GPU's aren't really built for gaming whatsoever and its normally cheaper to buy a motherboard without a GPU and a separate card than it is to go integrated. Your CPU is a bit under average too but if you had a better graphics card, it may not be as bad. But still, if I was you, I would save up and buy parts from the internet and make your own PC. It doesn't have to be an expensive high powered PC. I paid just under £150 GBP for my setup and I can play ARMA II on full settings minus anti-alaising. Oh and don't run FRAPS when gaming unless you have a powerfull PC. FRAPS is a killer. Plus BandiCam is so much better once you get a nice PC. It doesn't fill up a terabyte HDD in seconds like it does with FRAPS lol -
Some Suggestions and Changes for Immersion

I like those ideas except one: A Brick... not lethal... Come stand in front of me, let me throw it at you and when you re-awake from your coma, then tell me it wasn't lethal... lol -
Bad Serial Number Given At Start
chris_heyward replied to Fx_Rayz's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
A hacker could not have done this. This is a problem on your end. A little Google-Fu says that you can try running the program as admin and verifying your cache via steam (i do not use steam so cannot verify if that is correct) -

You can post your specs here. I never use task manager to boost the priority as it can cause more problems. When you set a game to high, if any background apps need to do something, it can cause them to make your game lag for longer as they are trying to work at their normal priority but more system resources are being used by your game -

Read my previous post. I updated it while you were replying. You can also increase FPS and have better gameplay by disabling alot of windows features and programs and cleaning out your system. Defragging helps too. Have you ever optimised your PC before? By that I mean, having no viruses (using AVG Free as Norton, McAfee and Avast always lie and miss stuff), also using a program like Ccleaner to remove corrupt registry entries that slow your PC and clean out temp files that do the same. Other programs such as Razers GameBooster and TuneUp Utilities allow you to quickly disable services and features that impact gaming performance and switch them back on when gaming is over -

There is already an option to lower the tree detail down to where it is just a green shape on a brown stick. If this is still causing issues then you have a really old or slow PC and I suggest upgrading. DayZ standalone will be less resource intensive but games and possibly DayZ in the near future will require more and your problem will get alot worse, so it best upgrading now. **EDIT** Also, your resolution can impact your gaming performance too so try dropping it down a bit. If you say run it at 1280x1024, make sure the in-game resolution setting under that is equal or less. Its named 3D Resolution. If you are still getting issues then drop everything down to 1024x768 and the same for the 3D resolution setting under that. Lowest setting minus your resolution are: Texture Detail:............Low Video Memory:...........Low Anistropic Filtering:....Disabled AntiAlaising:...............Disabled (rapes graphics if not disabled and not needed if you run at HD quality) ATOC:.......................All Trees & Grass (Don't think this changes anything now) Terain Detail:.............Very Low Objects Detail:...........Very Low Shadow Detail:..........Disabled (takes alot of resources if on) HDR Detail:...............Normal PPAA:.......................Disabled Postrocess:...............Disabled (looks better anyway) Vsync:.......................Disabled (hogs resources and lowers FPS big time) -
Third person vs First person view
chris_heyward replied to Rising (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
The only way I can see third person working is this (ignore the clothing. I opened up Armoury to better illustrate what I mean and getting a screenie refused to work in full screen): 1). You are close to a wall of a building moving right (wall on left)... - The camera turns automatically so that you cannot see much of the wall on your left and more of the open space to the right thus removing the ability to use it to peek around. You still have the ability to swivel the camera around to see behind you but the same principles are in order. The camera basically stops your cross-hair (if any) on the edge of the wall/corner as this is all the first person view can see. 2). You are running along a fence and the camera lowers to a point where you cannot get a view of what is on the other side. See image below. 3). You are lying in the grass and the camera moves to a position like the one above and stops you seeing any more than what you would during 1st person view. See image below: The bottom two can easily be achieved by locking the camera so you cannot move it downwards to get an eagles view. The only camera movements that are allowed are left, right and the ability to look above you into the sky. Hell, to make it more realistic, you could just remove the cross-hairs in 3rd person view. This will make people actually use the scope/iron sight and if the FOV is correct, make them get used to 1st person view. Have 3rd person view similar to firing from the waist (accuracy drops to where you hit everything but your target... :P) The only reason people are complaining about this is that fact they haven't changed their FOV and/or removed the head bobbing effect from the main menu -
Have Vegetation Options for Low PC
chris_heyward replied to HugoDayZ (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Will never happen. There used to be an option to lower or disable the vegetation but people were exploiting this and using it to kill people. An example of this is as follows: There's me running around and I hear a shot. I go and hide in a bush thinking you can't see me but seeing as you are playing on a crappy PC and lowered or disabled your vegetation, the bush/tree doesn't exist for you giving you a clear line of sight to shoot me. This is why that setting will not be disabled. You will have to suffer or lower your settings a little more. -
I do like the OP's idea about that and if it gets put into standalone, there should be another addition added. The chance that the door will squeak when opening slow. Not all doors. Just say 20% of them make a creaking or squeaking noise when opened fast or slow. This will alert the survivor/bandit inside or outside to your presence and maybe the odd zombie/infected

Don't call them mounds, just call it a "Dormant state". The reason I say that is the fact that if they were in a mound, that would mean they were either buried or were there for a damn long time. I like the idea you had with them lying there curled up in a ball and I really liked the grass one. Just imagine running through a field chasing your fresh-spawn when you step on one of these without seeing it, wake it up from its dormant state and it instantly grabs you and brings you to the ground and starts to feast on your face, arms, legs or genitals. And while this is happening, the fresh-spawn is rolling around the ground in laughter and grabs ze loot after the feast has ended :P

I haven't played Alan Wake so I am unsure about the mechanic in question but if its anything like the "walk into it and it will open" with a slight hand gesture then I would disagree with your post. If its as simple as that, then zeds can just walk right in. Zeds shouldn't be clever enough to open doors. Maybe if Rocket gave that mechanic the animation to actually opening the door while using the handle then yes I would agree

UnKn0wN_Gaming Why You Shouldn't Play There!
chris_heyward replied to adammelo's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
And this is the reason why legit server owners may be getting shafted when standalone comes out. I don't think Rocket wants the server files made public -
Wrong site. What you need is Dating Direct, and you my friend, sound like a bigamist...

In game map? Who uses those any more? They are so pre-apocalypse

banned off all servers for no reason
chris_heyward replied to slapper's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Yup GameHack#38 is what BE kicks for when someone is running CheatEngine or a similar Hex Editor/Debugger. Turn it off and problems should be solved. But for future reference, take a look at this http://dayzmod.com/f...al-ban-appeals/ -
You're favorate weapon in DayZ?
chris_heyward replied to TruckingBucket's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I would probably use it more if I ever actually found one. I found one on my first day playing the game and not seen it since -
Where will you take a dump in the Standalone?
chris_heyward replied to pr3llox's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You might want to change your username to "Pidgeon" then -

M4A1 CCO SD DMR M9SD How I roll if I can find them^^ -
sorry about that. And that is the reason why you do not reply to comments when you are half asleep lol
-
Umm... The reason my username is like this is because when I installed Windows XP once, the random computer name it generates said Be4st (with a - in it somewhere) and when my previous username "Cunning Stunt" or a similar variant started to get banned for an inappropriate username on the occasional site, I decided to change it and that was the only safe thing that popped into my head

However nice it might seem to have children zeds (women already included), they would not allow it. Not only would they get in deep sh*t for it for it being morally wrong blowing up children, you will have problems with players appearing as old men and placing a marker on the map saying "Candy Van is here" and jumping out in a Pedo-Bear outfit whenever a toddler with an AK-47 shows up. I did have an idea before similar to this where you enter your age and sex on a registration site and it always makes your character look the same age as you but then thought of the above and the shit the DayZ devs would get into when sexual predators turn up in the game and decided not to post it.

then you will find a teacher just like in RL... lol. Driving is easy. Just listen to the engine. She tells you what to do. Flying on the other hand is another story for me. Planes I should be able to handle but choppers? Hell no. I bet you 4 cans of beans and a Mountain Dew that within 1 hour of me finding a chopper in SA, the Cherno Hotel will just be a pile of rubble

I turned music off instantly. I don't want music drowning the pitter-patter of bandit feet or distant gunshots
