Yes. Remove the crosshair. This would mean people have to actually enter 1st person mode to aim. I did talk about something similar to this on another thread but that thread was more of a "Remove 3rd person" thread. Crosshair + 3rd person = Baby mode No Crosshair + 3rd Person = Slightly delayed shootings No-one can really win. The 1st person guys would agree to remove it but the 3rd person "peek-in-safety" nubs wouldn't want it to be removed as it causes a slight delay until they can get an accurate shot.

There is a promlem with my DayZ PLEASE HELP!!!!
chris_heyward replied to jasonmiller139's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
In DayZ Commander settings menu, you have an option to point to your ARMA and ARMA OA directories. Point them to the correct location. That is the only way to fix the'There was an error launching Arma 2 with DayZ, please check you settings, verify your game directories and try again.' error you gave us. Make sure you are linking to the right drive. e.g. My ARMA installation is located on my D:\ drive. DayZ Commander did automatically pick this up though so no manual input was needed -
Kicked from any server no reason stated plz somone help me
chris_heyward replied to msandx's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
From what you said there, you are having internet connectivity issues. There's no way to fix this other than change your ISP or find alternate ways to gain internet access if your wired connection is so rubbish. All servers have a setting where if a users ping goes above a certain amount, it will automatically kick them from the server. Try and connect to servers in your country to minimise this, if you are still experiencing this error after that then you need to rethink who you are buying your internet access from. -
Nope. What you need is this:

Current DayZ hive hardware and what is to be used for SA
chris_heyward posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I am unsure of the specs of the current main Hive server and was wondering if anyone had an idea of its hardware. Also I was wondering (and this is more of a question to Rocket and the devs) what system they plan to have for SA. I do know that Rocket wanted more people to populate the standard Chernarus map but as it stands right now, server capabilities are hindering that, and now that the DayZ mod has been taken under Bohemia's wing, can't the DayZ team talk them into funding for a dedicated "cold-aisle server cluster" like the one CCP Games (EvE-Online) has? I'm unable to find out what they currently have but this is what they had back in 2010: All of this is located in one area (London) and everyone in the world, except China connects to it. It should handle way more than what DayZ can throw at it seeing as all the required files are client side. Granted this is a beast of a setup and probably costs a bomb, but BIS has the cash and DayZ will make them that back in one day. With the setup linked above, they are able to handle a serious amount of connections and have 2500 people on the same grid as each other. That's more than enough horsepower than what DayZ needs. From the chit-chat I have heard, the current Hive server has taken one hell of a beating with all the data that has been thrown at it, Having a cluster similar to the one I suggested should fix this issue. -
*List* TOO Much Realism Is Bad (Please help me add on)

I don't know about you but it doesn't take 10 minutes to change a wheel. I once worked in a mechanics garage for a few weeks changing wheels. Without the use of an air-compressor and its tools, you can change a wheel in a little over 90 seconds using the standard Cross Lug Wrench and a trolley jack without rushing. Using a normal jack would probably add 15 seconds onto that -
encourage people playing hero-style by giving ability to give yourself a bloodtransfusion

Can you say that second part in English please? And yes, I do think that Hero's should have that ability. -
what steps is SA taking to make zombies a threat?
chris_heyward replied to kstone588 (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
That is where you are wrong. There is alot of info about it in the "Announcements" section like I said on my previous post. Plus, listen to all the interview with Matt Lightfoot. One is linked in the "Announcements" section and there are multiple interviews with RhinoCRUNCH -
I'm sorry. I was hungry and in a trolling mood. Anyways, that guide the other Beast linked looks cool, but it doesn't tell you how to apply thermal paste which is really important as your new CPU will overheat if not done or not done correctly. Regardless to video's and tips on applying thermal paste, do NOT use a business card as this creates alot of waste and you get air pockets which is bad. Use either a finger from a latex glove or a tiny bit of a carrier bag stretched over your finger and apply in a circular motion covering the CPU. You don't need alot. And if you ever need to remove the paste and apply a fresh dose, buy some of those alcohol injection wipes. They work wonders.

I grew up and don't live with my mum... But I will translate that for the adults... "What happens when your girlfriend/wife walks in in some kinky underwear, pulls your earphones off and drags you off to slip her a length"?

chris_heyward replied to kstone588 (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
All the info you need is on this forum in the announcements section. You probably know just as much as everyone else unless you didn't listen to the interview with Matt and what he said about zombies -
Good stalking but why did you have to ruin it by bitching it up in 3rd person view?

Suggestion for DayZ anti hack solution
chris_heyward replied to anbraxas's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Why didn't you just suggest using punkbuster instead of making a long video? Oh and half the current admins are young and probably wouldn't even bother checking screenshots. And Standalone, if coded correctly won't need PB or BE. There isn't a whole solution no but the devs can make it really damn hard for people to hack. Look at EvE-Online, no hacks. Just the odd exploit that is found quickly and patched. EvE uses no PB or BE -
Make the czech pouch a SECONDARY backpack.
chris_heyward replied to idontknow68's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Yeah like that's realistic. "Lets all stick a gun that is 54" in length and 27" in length when broken down into something that's 10" long. No wonder us guys have size comparison issues. -
Yup, The military uses them too. If I remember my training from years back, I think you have to check like 300 yards up river for dead/rotting animals and travel back to your original location, scoop water and drop a tablet in. This should be in the Standalone as drinking from those ponds should surely make you ill
-
There is a way but its not really any fun. You go and download all the files you need for setting up a server and lock/password the server so that no-one else can join

He is not talking about side chat. He is talking about Direct Communication. You can't limit that to a radio as sound would still be heard -

chris_heyward replied to Mini Maracas's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
It would be illegal. Freedom of speech and all. And I'm on comms just for general chit-chat. Except today where I took time out to watch a film and returned to find I had missed an epic kill :( -
