    Infected children in DayZ. Poll.

I personally don't care much of it gets added or not. To be perfectly honest the only thing it will do gameplay wise is that I sometimes have to aim slightly different to get headshots, (keeping in mind the hoppers). Psychologically it wont do much either, it's not like we are shooting live people here, just AI that are appear like humans. With the addition of children we just get miniature versions. On the other side of the coin, there is no reason for them not to be in the game. So I'm pretty indifferent and I'd say that if he wants to add them that he should make them a low priority.
  2. I love the idea of bigger cities, more locations of interest and an inland river. In fact, they should make a second giant landmass in the ocean, something like Lingor.

    Microphone (Proximity)

I'm sure it's not considered healthy to scream at a microphone.
  4. I agree that having the icon empty out in addition to the colors is a nice visual cue to tell the player the health of your character. To me especially this is a good idea because I often have trouble telling the colors apart.

    ALT+F4 and Abort FIX

What about a simple timer to logout properly which takes 10 seconds. Basically you stand still, can't move and have to wait 10 seconds without being shot at to logout. If you get shot or go into shock the logout is aborted. Disconnecting in any other way will result in the 5min shock cooldown when entering again.

    spray paint/mark on walls

Sounds nice, but a player should be able to save maybe 5 marks they make. I agree that a hard-reset on sprays needs to happen otherwise there will be too many sprays but this could have some very useful applications. So let people make up to 5 'permanent' graffiti markings that will stay unless the player that made them doesn't reconnect to the server within a week. Aside from those 5, one can create as many non-permanent markings that will only stay until the next server reset granted they have cans to spray with.
  7. Currently we can regain blood by either eating canned food (+200 instant blood), eating cooked meat (+800 instant blood) or getting a blood transfusion (+12000 instant blood). Now this is all fine and dandy but it doesn't make much sense to chug down 6 slices of steak in under 10 seconds to increase blood by an instant 4800. Now we all know that the health system, especially broken bones, can use some shaping up. But not all is about realism, I'm interested in some actual gameplay effects as well. Therefor I propose blood regeneration. Now hold your horses, keep your panties untangled and put those flaming torches down. I've searched the suggestion forum and I know that people frown upon blood regeneration because it supposedly makes the game easier. Wrong. I'm not suggesting something to make the game easier, I'm proposing something to make the game harder. Getting canned food and or cooked meat is easy, clicking the eat button for 5-10 times is also very easy not to forget that getting a blood transfusion is even more ridiculously easy. Stop with the introduction, just give me the darn suggestion, well here you go: I suggest that instead of getting an instantaneous amount of blood from food, it should slowly increase overtime. Not only is this more realistic, it will makes it much harder for players to get out of a pinch. It'll keep your adrenaline pumping for a longer time. What if somebody sneaks up on me now? This can go really bad. Restoring blood becomes more than a trip to the cluttered inventory and turns into a race against time and will keep you on edge. Is that a zombie sound? Better stop eating. 1) Idle Having both a green hunger icon and a green thirst icon a player should regenerate 0,1 blood per second. Don't worry already, as soon as you get hungry or thirsty again the regeneration stops dead in it's track. Consider this a small bonus for eating and drinking properly. This results in a meager 6 blood regenerated per minute or 360 blood per hour. 2) Canned foods. Eating canned foods should take 10 seconds of stuffing it in your face and swallowing it, this will make it so you have to devote at least a small amount of time completely vulnerable. Sure you can start running when needed, but you will drop those beans and never savor their sweet gooey taste. Now after you've eaten canned food, instead of getting an instant 200 blood you will boost your blood regeneration to 1 blood per second for 5 minutes. This results in a total of 300 blood regenerated over 5 minutes (60 per minute). 3) Cooked meats. Eating cooked meats should also take 10 seconds because it's meat and you should take at least that much time to enjoy it (also the actual legitimate reason above). After you've sank your teeth in some glorious scorched meat because you can't cook, instead of getting an instant 800 blood you will boost your blood regeneration to 3 blood per second for 5 minutes. This results in a total of 900 blood regenerated over 5 minutes (180 per minute). 4) Blood packs. One minor animation later and your friend is back on his feet. Well I feel sorry for you but blood transfusion never go that fast. Have some more adrenaline that feeds on your soul while your blood is only at 1000: Giving a blood transfusion should take 5 seconds of vulnerability, once it's been done the player that was on the receiving end will not gain an instant 12000 blood but will regenerate 200 blood per second until their blood is maxed out when not moving and only 50 blood per second while moving at walking speed. While they are regenerating they can not use main firearms (they can use pistols) or run. This results in a total of 12000 blood regenerated over 1 minute (12000 per minute) when not moving. or This results in a total of 12000 blood regenerated over 4 minutes (3000 per minute) when moving at walking speed. 5) Other tidbits of information. - It should not be possible to stack the effects of blood regeneration. So eating 5 cans of beans wont push your blood regeneration to 5 blood per second. It will stay on 1 blood per second but last 5 times as long. - Only the strongest regeneration will be active, if you eat beans and for some reason waste food by eating steak afterwards, you'll only get the blood regeneration from the steak. - After you are done regenerating and you have green hunger and thirst you'll go back to regenerating almost no blood per second. If you are thirsty you wont regenerate at all but it doesn't matter because the amount you regenerate is so little you wont even worry about it. Always be on edge. Gaining blood will take time, patience and nerves that can outlast the adrenaline rush from not wanting to die. It's arguably easier to gain blood, but at the same time harder as it's easier to die because your blood wont be full in just a few seconds.

    PLEASE MAKE DAYZ FOR MAC

Wrong about that one. DayZ standalone will run on a branch of the Real Virtuality engine from Take on Helicopters, which itself is a branch of the Real Virtuality engine from Arma2. It wont use the improved Real Virtuality engine that Arma 3 is using. Source Not that it matters, the Real Virtuality engine isn't OSX compatible.

READ: Lets get these Lighthouses up and running

It's never a bad time to bring up random facts about unnecessary stuff! Use them to impress lady friends, drunk friends at parties or use them as a convenient bail out when a conversation hit the shore. (See what I did there?)

    Horses in Chernarus

This reminds me of that one game of the sims 3 I had going. For some reason there were 4 horses on my front lawn one morning and I just got scared and uninstalled that game. Horrible jokes aside, horses would be fine. Catching one and taming them should be hard though.

    Zombies spawn

That's an entirely different suggestion. Possibly think more about what you want to suggest, heck it might even be a good start to chart the exact issue you are trying to resolve. Let's help you out. Basically you don't like how some people abuse the fact that zombies despawn in the region around a player that connects to the server. Granted this is an issue, but why does the game do this? The game does this because it's not a lot of fun when you connect a game and you can't move because somehow you just connected and there just so happened to be 10 zombies right next to you. Bam, you died and it wasn't something you could prevent. Now instead of the mess you suggested in the original post let's find a solution that is both possible, makes sense and is fair to all players. The simple solution most people will bring up? People that disconnect are not allowed to reconnect for a set amount of time. Result? There are less people that disconnect to despawn zombies, because waiting 10 minutes really isn't fun. New issue: People with crappy internet can no longer play the game. Not optimal, but it's much better than spawning a shitload of zombies for no discernible reason.
  12. I rarely have these problems. I can get around in Cherno and Electro pretty easily on most servers, get basic starting gear and supplies and get out. Maybe redefine your routes and places you loot along the way.

currency and gun dealer idea (not finished)

Rocket has already said that he does not like the idea of NPC's or game designated save areas. Not to forget that most other people also frown upon these ideas. If you really want a save area, people should work together to make a location save with guards where people can trade freely on their own terms.
  14. MasterZ

    Spoiled Food

This is a good idea, but give people still the option of eating spoiled meats with a high risk of getting sick.

    Infected Doctor...

I've seen them before, just like military zombies are more common near military buildings I often see medical people near hospitals.

    Read: Meal time benefits

It has good intentions but I fail to see how eating together with somebody should increase the total blood gain from the food eaten. If anything I think that eating or drinking something should take around 10-15 seconds. The benefit from being with somebody is that the other person can guard the surround area while you eat. Sure when you hear shooting you can stop eating immediately but you'll drop the food and it will be wasted, so you only get a partial blood gain.

    Study Body in stand alone.

I would like this in the stand alone yes. There are no downsides and will give you valuable information about your surroundings. Not to forget that it might increase immersion.

    Standalone Poll: First Person Only?

The most optimal solution would be making servers where both first and third person is enabled and 'veteran' servers where you only have first person. I agree that using third person creates an advantage that arguably should not be there in a game like this. The thing is, there are plenty of people that want to play third person. Should we really turn a back to these people? From a commercial point of few the obvious answer is no, because if these people know there is only a first person view there will be less players and thus less sales for the stand-alone.

READ: Lets get these Lighthouses up and running

Just want to make it obvious that lighthouses existed for far longer. They go back all the way to the times of the ancient Egyptians. For example, the Lighthouse of Alexandria which was build around 260 BC. (Arguably one of the more popular lighthouses in history.) Also Bosten Light, build in 1716, was the second lighthouse in America. The first lighthouse was build by Menendez after his landing in 1586. Of course these more ancient lighthouses were nothing more than tall stone towers with a big fire on top. Putting that aside, I'm all up for features that will make use of a power grid that can be reactivated by survivors.
  20. Rocket actually stated that he has interest in changing the lighting part of the game so that people can see more at night. Which is not surprising, starting at a pitch black screen is hardly fun.
  21. This is not a bad idea, but it's very much not needed. Putting everything aside but gameplay, this is simply a way to demolish a certain kind of playstyle. Sure, it's very annoying when other people shoot you just because they can. Instead of punishing people that shoot other people, the game should reward people that don't shoot other people or rather, should reward people that work together. 1) Make ammo and high-grade weapons scarce. 2) Increase the total amount of zombies in urban areas, make them non-sprinting but detect you even when you prone. (Smell.) 3) Increase the amount of interactions that players can do, for example: - Bandaging done by other people is more effective as you can't reach all places yourself properly. (Doing it yourself will make you bleed for 1 minute still, but only at 1/10th speed. People will shoot other people less because ammo is scarce and might be needed in the cities. People have higher chances of survival in urban areas when sticking together, here is where they will most likely use their conserved ammo. People will stick together more because making other people help you will get things done faster and better.

    Full release - Map discussion

I think some kind of 'progression' should be in order. So I'd like to see something like an archipelago: One huge starter island with the capital as one big city with multiple smaller cities, a moderate sized harbor city and an international airport. Three big islands (about 1/4th of the current continent) and two of those are connected to a huge starter island with a long bridge. Each big island has at least one moderate sized city (like Cherno) and smaller cities etc. In order to progress to the final island you need either a boat or a helicopter. Not to forget that cars are a must if you are to travel on the long bridges without being easy pickings.

    Multiple big islands please.

    DayZ Standalone Confirmed

Rather then putting a ridiculous price on the game that is above the regular market norm they should make it so that it can't be hacked. (And I'm fairly sure this will be no problem in the long term.) Also hurray, hopefully they release it on steam.
  25. Every single thread seems to be speculating what engine the stand alone is going to use. Speculation is fine, but I sincerely recommend doing a little bit of research before you start smearing your delicious opinions all over the cat filled internet. Arma 2 engine? Arma 3 engine? *ahum* Both games will run on the Real Virtuality engine, Arma 2 runs on the Real Virtuality 3 engine and Arma 3 will run on the Real Virtuality 4 engine. Because most people even missed that fact (no I did saw your post guy that also knew this) let me explain in lament terms: Arma 2 uses RV3, the third version of the RV engine and Arma 3 uses a modified and improved version of the same engine, thus there are a lot of similarities. Most games stick with the same engine for multiple games and just tweak and improve it over time, a few other examples are: Source: With games like Portal, Team Fortess 2, Left 4 Dead and many others. IW Engine: With the CoD series. On that note, I don't know which engine DayZ standalone will use but it will not use the Arma 2 or Arma 3 engine, it will either use the Real Virtuality engine or another actual engine. Thank you for your time and I salute you, few forum members that knew this, posted this and were horridly ignored by the onslaught of posts made by people that just want to say nice words.
