I don't believe it's the mod causing this. It's likely a connection issue somewhere along the line - your server's connection to the hive, your connection to your server, etc. Something's not coping. Our server and pretty much every other server I play on are fine - the one's that aren't, and show similar symptoms to what you're describing are usually isolated. Simple and first question would be : Have you played on other servers? If so, do they all have the issue, or just some?

It's one of two things: 1/ Server being restarted with no warning by admins. Solution - find another server, there's plenty out there with non-dickish admins that announce restarts with several minutes warning. 2/ Server is crashing as a result of many different factors, bugs, instability, etc. Solution - find another server.

@Admins locking servers after patch 1.7.2
ynefel replied to scoobyg's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
It's players getting their panties in a wad at even the faintest whiff of someone maybe even possibly remotely gaining the tiniest advantage. 'OMG server locked! Someone might be getting phat loot! *panic*' Relax. Even though most server admins (like myself) are honest and work hard to provide a fair and smooth running server - for complete strangers to play on free of charge, I might add. I've only had my server for a month and am already wholeheartedly sick of people screaming 'admin abuse!' on the forums every time something unusual happens. It's like schoolyard dobbing and tattletales all over again. Most of the issues people scream admin abuse for are bug/stability related. Sure, there are a minority of admins out there taking advantage of people and their power, but most admins are just trying to do the right thing. Sure, report admins you think are obviously abusing their power, but step back for a moment and take a breath before you do so. -
I've had the same vision/graphics issue - for me it was actually tank traps causing a weird graphics glitch. Removing them and relogging seemed to fix it.

Can I password protect a server if I make the password publicly available?
ynefel replied to MichealKenny's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
What would be the point of passwording it then? Either way, DayZ regs clearly state no server passwording. Also, redirecting someone to a URL seems a little suspicious to me. -

I'm going to weigh in here, and I'll probably regret it, but here goes. I've had no issues with HFB at all. Server setup took a matter of days, which is fine by me. His information and updates from the website are usually up to date and helpful. No problems. It seems more and more, the constant complaining about any of the server hosting companies seems to come from people that are just plain impatient. Good lord, you've been in TS for 7 hours and no response? How dare he! Quick solution - settle down, and just be patient. It might feel like the apocalypse when your precious DayZ server is down, but there's 1000 others to play on while you wait. Send an email, and wait for a response - or god forbid, go do something else. Try and be a little more understanding, and I'll say it again - patient.

If it's an i7 2600, it's a desktop. Just to clarify, your system is actually fine for Arma 2 - it's the integrated/onboard Intel graphics that's killing you. The guy that suggested a GTX460 is onto something. Good performance, cheap card.

Do Vehicles / Helicopters carry over?

Tents and vehicles save to that server. -
Seattle 67: Vehicles, Tents and Bikes unspawned
ynefel replied to QuickSkope's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I'm an admin myself, and our server has had all tents and vehicles borked. While it sucks, I suggest you learn to deal with losing stuff in this game. Life's going to be very stressful if you don't. Best to just suck it up and move on, it happens. It's an alpha. -
vehicles not spawning anymore?
ynefel replied to sakage (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I haven't checked other servers, but we lost all vehicles and tents (that we know of) on our server. It's interesting it only happened after the Hive maintenance the devs performed on monday-ish. Again, I'm not expressing displeasure at this - this sort of thing happens, I'm cool with that. I made the resolution very early on with this game to not get too attached to anything. =) The nature of the mod, combined with the fact it's in Alpha means you will lose things. Be nice if one of the devs could weigh in and shed some light on this. Will a future DayZ update fix it? Do we just have to be patient and wait for a respawn timer or some such? Can we do something to help? -
vehicles not spawning anymore?
ynefel replied to sakage (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Similar issues here. Had vehicles on our server since it first went live about a month ago - since getting it back up and running yesterday, post-DDoS maintenance, our existing vehicles are gone. (Tents as well, but that's not such a great mystery - it happens) Myself and 2 others have scouted all known vehicle spawns on the server and have not encountered a single vehicle - not even a bicycle. My question is more what's causing it. It sucks not having vehicles, but I'm sure I'll survive. I always thought vehicles were stored/maintained locally, but in the wake of hive maintenance, the vehicle issues seem to have presented themselves, so I'm guessing that's not the case. Not complaining, by the way. If it's a known/explainable issue, that's fine - just looking for some more info, I guess. -
We had a similar issue when first getting our server running. For some reason, it would not show in the stock Arma II server browser. However, we were able to find it and join it using the Six Launcher. Weird. Interestingly, since then, it shows in Arma 2 browser and Six Launcher. Try see if you can find and join it with Six Launcher.

So you were asked to restart, didn't and were kicked? How ridiculously unfair of them. -

ynefel replied to underpaidorphan's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think people should be able to freely choose to play alone or in a group. I agree that upping the zombie population and spawning them on roads, fields, wilderness - away from towns/buildings is THE best way to start balancing it. -

Whilst I'm enjoying people quoting me, did anyone actually read the rest of my post that followed that comment? Context is a magnificent thing. Sorry, too many idiots showing up, lately. All with the talk about "They want it EZ, but DayZ is hardkore". It's getting hard to read entire posts when we assume the entire rest of it will be exactly the same of others. That's cool, I basically surmised problems would be reduced if people just got a little more adventurous. Too many people just hang around the starting areas and then complain when they get killed. This game is utterly terrifying to begin with. Zombies, scarce supplies, the massive map, it's crazy. People will find the game is so much better and more satisfying once you start pushing yourself. This game has taught me patience too. Just being in the wrong place at the wrong time, and you're dead. Potentially days worth of scavenging and fantastic items. Gone. In an instant. But that's what it's all about. My sincerest concern is that this mod will get dumbed down to cater to the masses. I'm not trying to be/sound 'hardcore', but the sole reason I'm enjoying this mod is because of just how freaking difficult it is. I'm not cool, I'm not awesome, I'm just sick of mass produced games that are too easy and hold your hand when you go to the toilet. Everyone has different experience, expectations and skill levels. However, I resent people that complain when they haven't tried hard enough, and blame the game or other people, or want it dumbed down to suit them. Not everyone fits that bill, I know, but that's what it often sounds like. -

ynefel replied to underpaidorphan's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
If not, then they must be slow learners. I've never had this DM/TDM problem that's being complained about. Ever. That's because I don't hang out on the coast. Most people realise, eventually that when you hang out on the coast/Elektro/Cherno, you die. Ergo, don't go there. You don't have to be a genius to figure that out. -

All these complaints usually come from people that are just bitching because 'it's too hard', etc. Also, most of the rampant killing occurs on the coast and in areas like Elektro and Cherno. What a surprise. Higher quantities of people fighting over limited supplies. No shit? Here's the rundown: If it's too hard for you, go play something else. If not, try leaving the starting area. If you head inland, the rules are far different. Although, heading to the NW Airfield is like approaching the wild west, so you still need to be wary. That's not people being assholes though, that's people who have taken a decent journey to get where they are, and also want to protect their loot. I spend most of my time up north, and I only play with 2 people I know in real life, and we communicate over Steam chat. Everyone else is kill on sight. I'm not being a bastard, but why do I care what some random name on a server I'll never know or meet thinks of me? I'm not killing them to steal their loot, or make life hard - it's protecting what I've got, protecting my friends, and basically making sure I don't lose my shit, or have to do the ~45 min trip back up there. That's what this game is ALL about. Getting the weapons, the gear, the food, water, etc. I'm not playing to make friends with strangers. There's people that don't understand the game, are just noobs or even trolls who just want to start shit, but trust me. Leave the safety of the starting area, and you'll find it changes the further north you go. Most of the retards in this game are all on the coast. Also, the further north you go, there's better gear, better weaps and a different experience. So far, this is the most incredible mod I've played pretty much to date, and has consumed my life for the past fortnight. I get whole heartedly sick of people trying to pin the blame on things for them not enjoying the game. Man up, stop complaining, start venturing outside your comfort zone. If you're getting killed repeatedly, go somewhere else. It's not a difficult concept. In the ~80 odd hours I've played in the last week or two, I've spent a grand total of maybe an hour in Cherno and Elektro. Too many idiots, or people who are still learning, either way, both types of people are dangerous.
