Make hacking LEGAL - read before rage

Isn't that exactly what you're asking for, a game full of hackers? You seem to have a double standard, thinking that hackers suck, but you want to be able to do it yourself. And it is not a good suggestion, why on earth would anyone want to be on a server full of hackers? Not only that but there would be nothing to do at all if you could just get everything handed to you on a silver platter. If all you really want to do is fly a helicopter, then go onto Arma2 training camp and do it there. Now that is a good suggestion. probably one of the only good ones on the thread

Haha, yes you know so much about me because I'm against cheating to defeat cheaters. then there is the person that bitches about hackers, then wants to become one themselves. Where the hell does Democracy come into this? And how much money people have? Hypocrites rarely have the common sense for logical thought, so I shall put them down to stupidity, and the rest of it down to trolling.

Yeah great, I will be the one without God Mode, so who will be the target of everyone? Me. Hacking isn't a normal option, it is a way out for people who are incapable of playing a game as intended. Seriously what would be fun about this game with hacks in it? Please give me a good logical answer to that and I will agree that hacking should be put into the game.

Lol, yea I can see the epicness of this already, everyone running around with God Mode engaged, shooting everyone else, with God Mode engaged, while using weapons that some people actually enjoy trying to find on their own, or just ones that aren't meant to be in the game. Couple that with people teleporting everyone else to every other location on the map trying to kill them... Yes, sarcasm was definitely intended. What the fuck do you suggest you do in this game if everything including immortality is just given to you? Not only that but it is not even hard to get hold of scripts if you really want to, the fact that people don't suggests that people would rather play as intended.
  5. I'm going to regret saying this (sod's law governs my entire life and it will kick me in the face before long) But I've yet to come across any hackers (that I know of) And I have enjoyed every other experience I've had on DayZ. I am also waiting for other games to come out, BL2 is taking way too long to get out of the factory. I know it's bloody finished dammit, just give it to me already!!

Why Bandit skins are a terrible idea.

Yes but how many people don't shoot in this game, even when you see a hero or survivor. It doesn't matter what skin you're wearing, you are always a bad guy to some, and a good guy to others (except bandits, they usually kill everyone). And yes I also stated that a reward and consequence system is not necessarily a bad idea, just to try and level the playing field a bit. Leaving out one side of an argument does not make it invalid, it just means I am biased towards that one side, all I have said about it is true, it is up to the people that disagree to fill in their side of the discussion. What I don't want is a skin system that tells me how people are likely to act before you've even made contact. Where has the thrill gone? Why is a skin system needed? I understand you can die instantly in this game, it has happened several times to me, once from someone who teamed up with me for about 20 minutes before shooting me in the back of the head. I still don't want a skin system, it makes it "easy-mode" in my opinion. Leave in the humanity and an R&C system and it keeps the feel of not knowing who to trust, but it gives people a reason not to shoot on sight if you're given something good for helping someone out. Sorry mate but if you had the chance to circle around behind and kill him without him knowing you were there, then that is a murder, and no amount of humanity should have allowed you to keep your survivor/hero skin. Shooting in self defence would be when they know where you are at all times and are attempting to kill you. If they lose you, then it should be over, head in a different direction to the way you were going, and move on. So I Disagree, and say that is a broken system, killing a bandit doesn't make you any better than them at all, and survivors/heroes should avoid killing them unless absolutely necessary. There is a difference between self-defence and a murder, even on a bandit, but the system is not capable of handling that level of complexity.

How to find stuff and suck less?

What BuffJesus said. Run, don't crouch when you're just starting out, you have nothing to lose, so act like it. Learn the buildings you can enter with several exits, the best way to lose Zeds, and you can loot while you're there too. Don't avoid the big Cities, (Cherno and Elektro) like I said, you have nothing to lose, but a lot to gain from one good loot run through either of the cities. Once you have the basics get out quick and head North away from the coast.

Why Bandit skins are a terrible idea.

Why do you have a right to know about that? This whole game was used as a social experiment, where is the experiment if you immediately know on sight the likely outcome of a situation? It brings the game less choice and makes it more of a linear "See bad guy, Shoot". This removes most aspects of player interaction, because the system does not work (and will never work, you can't program humanity into a game). Even if you could, I don't want to know if someone is a survivor/bandit/hero before I initiate contact with them, and if you do, then you're probably doing it wrong anyway. There are many ways to contact someone without putting yourself at risk, and the only time you can't is when you round a corner and come face first with another survivor. Most of these situations end up in one or both parties dead anyway, as you act without thinking the situation through, which ends up in a shoot out. If you want "perks or repercussions" for certain behaviours (bandits or heroes) then fine, I see no problem with that, so long as they're balanced, but remove the skins. Also what do you do when you see someone in a Ghillie Suit or CC? You have no idea if they are a hero/bandit/survivor. Chances are that means they will be killed if you have the upper hand on them, which could result in a murder, turning you into a bandit yourself. Then you're targeted by everyone else in the game for choosing the logical solution of removing a potential threat before it becomes one. Get into a shoot out with a survivor who can't shoot, and again, plus one murder when you're clearly defending yourself. Who is "We"? Don't group all survivors into the same boat as you because you get into a fit when someone shoots you. I actually relish the thought of someone besting me in combat on this. It means I get to start over again (no sarcasm, I actually want this). I have more fun at the beginning of the game with no supplies, than I do when I have all the good gear. All my gear is replaceable, and it is more fun getting it, then having it. Why do you "have" to have a system telling you if someone is a murderer or not? Are you incapable of playing a game without crutches to tell you what to do? Who to shoot at? Bandits have as much of a right to play as heroes and survivors, in fact there would be nothing to this game except a loot system if PvP was taken out. Zombies aren't a problem, people are. Every encounter you have with another player is an interesting experience, and "knowing" their play style just removes most of it. I am a survivor. I have killed in self defence, and I have been killed for trusting people too much. That is the way life goes in DayZ.

After work I'm gonna try this.

Ask the medics for help? They will patch you up and give you food. If not the oil drums in cities are sometimes on fire, and you can cook on them.

What gender do you usually choose?

Female characters have no humanity? Is this correct? If so then a lot of bandits will choose to be female, so they don't look like bandits. Even more problems arise with humanity and skins...

    Underrated Weapons

Lol, if you did die to a guy using a Makarov while using an M4SD then you should leave any games that have guns in them anyway. It does about 3555 damage per shot, so you need 4 on centre target to take someone down. The Makarov does 889 damage, meaning you need to unload pretty much 2 full clips on target to kill someone. Only if they shoot you in the head, or you can't shoot will a Makarov ever beat the M4SD. It is a perfectly good weapon, which is why so many people use it. If it were as terrible as you're making out no-one would want to use it anyway.

    Underrated Weapons

I don't understand why people prefer the FAL to the M14 (Just what I have found from my own experience). Same damage, probably same loud as fuck noise, but the M14 has a beautiful sight and pretty common ammo. I love my DMR but I really want to find myself an M24. I will probably keep both (one for day and one for night) And since they take the same ammo I can keep myself to an overwatch position in my group, but if needs must I can use the DMR to spam anyone who walks round a corner shooting at me. I'm not sure what counts as overrated except the .50 Cals, the M4SD, L86A2, and probably the M9SD (always my go to pistol, perfect for Zeds) The Winchester is my go to starting gun, I'll take the dinner bell, but I won't shoot that thing unless I have no other choice. Also the M249 SAW is a beast gun, firing it in 3-5 round bursts will take someone down very quickly, it has a little bit less damage per shot than the other 2 LMG's, but I really like it.

Why Bandit skins are a terrible idea.

I agree with you, the game isn't realistic, but it is a lot more so than anything else out there. Maybe I invest too much into it to try and make it more realistic for me. I actually play my character the way I would try to survive through a zombie apocalypse. I know a lot of people don't, and that means the game becomes unbalanced in favour of being a FFA DM. The thing is that the skin system is broken, and shouldn't even be in the game in the first place. You could still have the same sort of "perks" without the skins, but for me the whole attitude changes when you "know" someone is a bandit/hero/survivor. (You never really know at the moment, because the system is buggy). If someone is a survivor, then seeing someone in a bandit skin will make it more likely (for me anyway) that they will just be shot on sight. Yet you can get the bandit skin as you said for just defending yourself against someone trying to kill you. The hero skin is the worst, considering you can just "farm" your heroic deeds, meaning that some heroes are actually bandits in disguise. You might unknowingly be trusting a bandit, waiting to shoot you in the back as soon as you turn around. The survivors are neither good or bad, well, at that time anyway. None of this even factors in the account that people can just change their skin to something else. Such as if a hero pick up a Ghillie suit, he would then drop his hero clothes, if a bandit picks those up, he has pretty much free reign to do what he wants. On the other side, a bandit picks up a Ghillie, is he good or bad? how do you tell unless you actively see him change from bandit to Ghillie? I don't disagree that maybe adding something to try and balance it out in a better way would be nice, but skins are not the way forward. If nothing else it removes a lot of fear factor from the game when you see someone for what they are.

    I dont even..

Well it's not as if he couldn't have. Everyone and their mothers do, which begs the question, why weren't the mothers included with everyone? I think something is going on here...

Am I the onyl one who LOVES this weapon

http://www.dayzwiki.com/wiki/STANAG_SD_Mag First line, subsonic rounds. They are in the game, I would guess the reason you can still hear a crack above your head when someone is shooting at you is just that, so you know someone is shooting at you. Just a guess though, I don't know why you would still hear the round otherwise, or why you should anyway.

Maybe I...someone took it for a ride when you logged off? I... they could have done a few trips round the map then left the rotors spinning till the fuel emptied. I mean, it's not something that I would do... but, you know, it happens.

Why Bandit skins are a terrible idea.

So in your eyes anyone that shoots a gun at any other person is a murderer and a bandit? And you would assume the same IRL? Someone defending themselves counts as a cold blooded killer? Sorry but I disagree completely. I don't shoot on sight, I don't go looking for bandits or anyone to kill, but if someone threatens to put me back probably 20 or more hours on my character then I'm going to do anything I can to stop them. Why should I lose everything just because someone likes being a bandit, and wearing the skin, whereas I don't? If everyone did what you suggest then the game would just be bandits, and medics that heal the bandits. I don't mind starting again, it's quite refreshing and fun, but I have still put a lot of effort into my character, so until someone can best me or gets the drop, I will be keeping him alive the way the game intended me too (By shooting those who shoot at me). Lol but humans have been trying to kill each other off since the beginning of time, I'm not saying everyone is bad, and I'm not saying that this WOULD happen. But deep down we are all animals, we all have that will to survive, and if the first person you meet in an unfriendly world tries to kill you, everyone else you see then becomes another potential assailant out for blood. The problem being that there IS no consequence in this situation to killing someone, it is the easiest way to survive, except for as you said, grouping with people. But until characters are given some reason to travel as a group, (maybe give people skill-sets, but I don't know, I don't necessarily want to be unable to take down a barrier because I'm not the right class), then this will be the norm for this game.

Why Bandit skins are a terrible idea.

Yeah, I get where you're coming from, unfortunately I think we have different views on human nature in general, lol. I personally think that in this post apocalyptic survival situation people are more likely to behave in a very similar way to how they do in this mod. You have one person, hasn't met anyone yet, and longs for companionship. He sees someone and he gets their attention. To his surprise the guy just turns around and starts shooting at him, so he fires back, only in self defence. He gets the kill, and he is alive, but does he still want the companionship of others? Probably not anywhere near as much as his instinct screams at him to trust no-one and to live above all other things. Most people have a survival instinct that will trump any other emotions their mind brings to the table, which eventually ends up with a dog eat dog world. I mean also people can change how they look, cut/grow a beard, or your hair, different clothes, finding a new weapon. Without technology such as say a picture to associate with someone it becomes increasingly difficult to prove anyone did anything, meaning there is no trust. Yes there would be groups of survivors living together, the same as there would be groups of bandits doing the same thing, except they raid survivors hideouts to get their loot, because it is easy. Regardless of in a game or not people like to take the easy route out, and that is killing the guy for his stuff rather than finding their own. Bandits can wear Ghillie suits, so can survivors, what do you do when you see a guy wearing one? What happens when a survivor starts shooting at you, and you become a bandit for returning fire in self defence? the former could be fixed possibly, but the latter is something the game can't account for. There are ways to team up without being with people you know, but if you're willing to trust anyone that says "friendly", then maybe change up the tactics a bit. Just my opinion.
  20. discombobulated

I'm a hero. I have a big gun. Do you shoot me?

Yeah way to go with making a poll that covers all possible reasoning, lol. Anyway same as a guy above it all depends on how you act towards me. I probably won't shoot you unless I assume you're about to shoot at me (or in fact do), but if you say you're friendly, then we can both live and part ways. Bear in mind I would have my gun trained on you till you were well out of my way. I don't trust anyone in the game, not even heroes. So don't take it personally.
  21. discombobulated

Why Bandit skins are a terrible idea.

The humanity system is broken, the skin system is catering to the people that are too trusting/can't play properly. The whole thing needs to be removed. There is no system that could be implemented where humanity will actually work properly. And if you seriously need a different skin to know if you can trust someone or not, then you're doing it wrong.
  22. discombobulated

People who murder bandits =/= heroes

Killing a bandit doesn't make you better than them, so no your humanity shouldn't go up. Saying that defending yourself from someone trying to kill you shouldn't lower your humanity either. Why should I lose morality because someone is shooting at me and the only way out of the situation without dying is to kill them? And yes you're correct, the game has no idea whether you are shooting in self defence or not. The entire humanity system is broken, as well as the skins.

Trading G36C SD, AS50 TWS, M4A1 HOLO SD

Pretty easy solution, everyone with gear that shouldn't be in the game will receive a message on screen, telling them that they are carrying a hacked weapon. They then have 10 minutes to remove it from their inventory. If they don't, they get banned, if they do, they can carry on as normal. If it doesn't make a difference then why do people add it to the game? And yes it does really matter because regardless of whether it is a re-skin or not, the gun is not meant to be in the mod, and adding it to the mod adds to the unbalance of the rarity of the M4A1 CCO SD. (Regardless of rarity level there is still only 2 places on the map you can find one). But don't think about it like that "It's exactly the same as another gun in the game so it doesn't matter."

    Found AS50 with Thermalscope

Well sorry for your loss :P, but at least your not adding to the problem by saying "Oh well I didn't hack it in so it doesn't matter" Good on you for destroying it, one less OP hacked weapon in the game. The first AS50 I found was on a Heli crash site, so it definitely wasn't hacked/duped, but I didn't even get a chance to use it before I got killed by some guy, just remember that gear is replaceable, and you'll do fine.
  25. *Cue the epic pokemon music* A Wild Bandit Appears!!! Go Medic!!! Medic Uses Talk Wild Bandit Flees On a side note I don't know what murders or bandit kills do to humanity, It would actually make sense to gain a little humanity for killing a bandit, but I suppose killing them doesn't make you better than them, stick to your gut instinct, you survived the situation, so it didn't turn out too bad.
