Is the hideous framerate. I literally have everything set to minimum and whenever there are buildings the game just slows to a crawl. My computer is not the problem, so save the stupid remarks.
-
It's not. It doesn't actually give you nightvision: First of all, even if you max out your gamma, it's still very difficult to make things out in this game because of how it renders light. It doesn't really so much let you see in the dark as see clearly in areas that are actually light. It's actually more realistic to turn your gamma up: IRL, your eyes adjust to low-level light at night, and depending on the ambient light level, you'd be surprised how much you can see once your eyes fully adjust to darkness. Since this sort of thing isn't actually coded into the game to show how dramatically you can see, the level of light you see when you turn your gamma ALL the way up is still BELOW that which what you could probably see realistically. People with light eyes will know what I mean.

Charging people money to help you "make" a game....

You reversed what you said. Now you're talking about him buying it out now. If he buys it later he loses 30... Not saves. -

That is not how basic math works. -

The main thing that sucks right now: The FPS
Ozelot (DayZ) replied to Ozelot (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
"bawwww, it's an alpha" is the best you can respond with? jeez I'm pointing it out because it's the most glaring issue ATM. It's something they can work on. I CAN CRITICIZE THIS GAME ALL I WANT. We bought this game so we can play test it, so point out crappy things I shall. -
There isn't less KoS. It just takes a bit longer for it to happen somehow.

Just because it works well for a tiny number of people doesn't mean the code cannot be poorly optimized. -
The main thing that sucks right now: The FPS
Ozelot (DayZ) replied to Ozelot (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Nope. it's the poor optimization of the game. The main thing is that lowering my resolution does basically nothing for the FPS, there's a slight gain but not as much as there should be. If lowering your resolution doesn't increase fps alot, it means your GPU is not really struggling to render whatever it's dealing with. There is some other choke-point. -
The resolution does not matter. Funnily enough it has a lot more to do with object detail, texture quality, and post-effects like AA and most of the special rendering features. It is usually a bad sign when lowering your resolution from 1920 x 1200 to 640ish does absolutely fucking nothing. (Actually it adds a few fps, but not enough as it should.) Lowering resolution should ALWAYS increase your frames by quite a bit, as there is literally no way to tell your GPU to work less hard than to tell it to render less fucking pixels. If that's not the case you have some bad optimization going on. I think the higher detailed buildings really are the cause of most woes.

Two dudes literally ganging up on me with axes, trying to KoS me. As I predicted things would be. I simply ran around a barn in circles until they lost me. They were pretty stupid.

So, where are the 100 player servers?
Ozelot (DayZ) replied to TheMachine's topic in General Discussion
This is an Alpha. It will be patched in the SA. -
Based on all the bug reports here, I'm not really sure I want to play it right now. Pretty soon I imagine the hackers are going to start their march as well... Is there an auto-run button yet? how should I tell my friend politely I don't want to play?

Rarity of guns will change everything
Ozelot (DayZ) replied to Cap'n (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It's not going to change anything. People will just murder each other with axes instead. -
how did people get SA invites for pre-alpha?
Ozelot (DayZ) replied to DropBearChick's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
They kissed my bum. A lot. -
Does anyone else have dreams in DayZ from time to time? What are they about? Mine usually involve lots of scavenging and killing on sight. Sometimes when there's a car, I hide.

exstensive list of suggestions for SA

Wow, stop shitting on ideas just because you don't think they're 'realistic' They're AWESOMe, that's what counts. -

blowing someone up is a pretty inhumane thing to do -
It probably WILL suck. I mean, the thing is people tend to overhype in their own minds what they expect out of something, and then it comes out and it's nothing like what they thought it'll be. This is true even with huge game releases that have enormous budgets and tons of people working on them. DayZ is just a small start-up project. There is bound to be some serious disappointment coming. Just being realistic. If you don't want it to seem sucky, people should tone down their expectations.

Hostage-taking - probably a terrible idea
Ozelot (DayZ) replied to Xianyu's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'm sorry, but you're an idiot if you actually believe people are not going to cheat based on some honor system. It is no one's fault but the game designer's. If there is an exploit made available made to players, you have to assume they are going to use it. Players in online games continually find exploits after tens of thousands of play-testing that even the programmers don't know about and constantly use them. What do you think they are going to do with an obvious one like combat logging?
