    Footsteps in mud...

I love the idea, but I'm going to guess that the game engine won't allow this, at least not the one in use for the mod. Perhaps this would be possible for the full game.
  2. He just wants to play singleplayer with all weapons acquired, probably because he doesn't have enough time to play the real thing. He's not asking how to hack so as to harm another players experience, just to better his own in a solo environment.

    Finding a vehicle

I'd like some suggestions too, I simply can't find one at all. I'm guessing there's actually no tactic, but just in case there is.
  4. Vault. Vault like you've never vaulted before but are suddenly a professional vaulter.
  5. My humanity resets to 0 every respawn (new life), but I maintain my hero skin. EDIT: Actually it's every time I spawn in.
  6. What time do you all play at? I usually start playing at about this time with two others. We have an odd group, I always try to be friendly, one of my friends is somewhat neutral, and the other doesn't like to take chances, lol.

    Am I a bad person?

He wasn't a threat if he wasn't armed, so you could have just told him to leave. If you were both going the same way, he might have become a threat if he found a weapon so I could understand that. But killing new spawns and not looting them is mean nonetheless.

    What do YOU carry?

I carry, usually, two painkillers / morphine / epipen. 4 bandages. 1 heatpack. no chemlights or roadflares, too scared to use them. 2-3 blood bags. as much cooked meat as possible, as much canned food and drinks (im addicted to food).

anyone get low fps on some servers?

Some servers frame skip every few seconds. It's usually a fixed amount of time until the frame skip occurs, about 5 seconds. One server I joined destroyed my fps, it was raining at the time, so that might have had something to do with it.
  10. I only had to read the first sentence to know that I agree with you, three words, straight and to the point. They pay for the right to host, not to abuse (10 words, damn, your expertise at short and sweet amazes me).

    DayZ Commander Update Problem

DayZ Commander sorted it's self out, but I really wanted to try this "manual update" thing. Sounds like a wild adventure, oh well. EDIT: I was tricked by a computer program, it seems. Going to have to lose the training wheels and solve my problems like a big boy, by consulting a tutorial on manual updating.

    DayZ Commander Update Problem

Same here. EDIT: Six Launcher updated, but still says I'm on 1.7.2.4, while DayZ Commander still says the same thing. It's war of the errors over here. DayZ Commander shows that there is no new DayZ update, and that field is in fact blank. There's nothing there.

    US 599 players beware

Same thing happened on US 1844 just now, except for the server restart. My friend was shot down by the heli, I ran away and hid in a bush, and then they crashed it. My other friend went to check it out and was shot at by someone from the "crashed" heli (with no one in the heli when he checked it). It wasn't lootable.

Looking for Survivors to team with

I'm getting sick of playing alone, I can't guarantee when I'll be on to play though. I'm slow and steady, patient. I don't like to attract attention from zombies / players. I'm also too friendly for DayZ, but I've realized (finally) that if someone doesn't respond with "friendly" within a few seconds then they aren't friendly. I don't really care what your play style is, we can still work together. Everyone's welcome to add me on Steam: gunhold.
  15. Jebus, that's one great story. Earlier tonight I was in Cherno, I only wanted to loot the apartments, just needed a compass and a backpack, you see? So I crouch walk into the back-most apartment. Loot it, find damn near nothing of any use. I then move on to the apartment in front of it (the one in front of the hospital), it's empty too, but from the balcony I see a player looting the hospital. I call out on mic, "Hey, I'm friendly, are you friendly?" He looks around but makes no response, I then type "I'm friendly", still nothing. He only had a revolver. Suddenly I hear a series of gunshots, somebody else shooting nearby, not sure at what though as the gunfire hits neither me nor my silent friend. I tell him to stay there, I'm gonna try to kill this guy who I assumed was trying to kill us. He didn't stay there, he came into my apartment building. I have an M4A1 ready to fire, so I tell him if he doesn't respond I *might* shoot him (my mistake, I know, I learned from it). The shooter is no where to be found, while my silent friend makes his way into the top floor, doesn't see me and enters the other rooms. He comes into mine, turns and sees me in a corner, fires once and I massacred him. He turned out to be a bandit! First bandit kill :P Bandage myself, felt quite bad because I thought he stopped shooting after I yelled friendly a couple times, but I couldn't risk it. Happened too fast. I took his ALICE pack (yay me) and after camping the entrance for fear of the shooter, I left and made a quick getaway to the forest.

    this mod is in beta...

Features are still being added to the game, therefore it is still in alpha. Beta will come when the features stop coming and the current ones receive all the necessary touch-ups.
  17. I was just shot in the head in a barn up north, I didn't even get to attempt this myth we call "friendliness". I am always friendly though.
  18. Just play on low populations servers (best for noobs to learn imo) and try to find Cherno or Elektro, get used to the ins and outs of the game. Search youtube for any help you might need, youtube has it all.
  19. Daffy Duck

    Why do people do it?

If you're a noob, like myself, to learn the ropes join low pop servers at first, imo there tends to be more friendlies than bandits.

    Graphical Issues

I saw it coming from the center of Cherno, as well as recently from a lighthouse (I don't think it was an ordinary lighthouse, twas larger). It happens a lot for me, can't go to the lighthouse cause I cannot see. Logged out, will try again another day.

    LF a few players

I'm as far west as one can be, wanna trek a few hours into central Chernarus and meet up? (lol)
  22. My name in DayZ is Daffy Duck, but as you probably guessed, I am not Daffy Duck, I've been living a lie. Anywho, I've been quite honest to the players I've met on my travels, I decided to never shoot someone on site unless they try to kill me. There was one incident where I looted a firehouse and found two dead bodies, one with an AK, one with a Remmington, took the shotty. Just then someone with an axe ran up the stairs, I calmly stated on mic "friendly" and he took one swing at me, so I shot him three times. To this day it remains my only murder. He didn't alt+f4 so I commend him for his righteousness. Otherwise, everyone else I've met I greeted with a "friendly" and "wanna roll together?", something along those lines anyways. I even once followed a random and we both saved a third guy trapped in a warehouse, good times. I once saved a guy in a barn and followed him to Cherno, my nickname was Axeman, we met up with his friend and they didn't kill me. We looted Cherno, and they showed me where the guns were, I lost them in Cherno what with me being a noob, but it was one of the greatest online moments of gaming EVAR. Got sniped twice, felt worthless, like I wasn't worth a real encounter, but I realize I'm just prey to snipers, so that's the reality. I've been thinking about what I'd do if I saw a sniper, are they friendly? So far I'm assuming that anyone who has a sniper is out to get murders, but I can't bring myself to shoot on sight, I'm ready to die. I willingly ask strangers if they need assistance, bandages, food, drinks, ammo, etc. I just like helping people out in DayZ. My point is, I'm playing this game for the companionship it brings with complete strangers, I'm willing to help people even if they're secretly planning to kill me, because those few encounters where I do team up with strangers are freakin' worth it. I couldn't bring myself to play like a bandit because it's boring as hell, there's no thrill when I know I'm just going to kill anyone I see. There is thrill when I don't know if I'm going to kill the next stranger that crosses paths. I'm a noob, and I love this game. Actually I've got aboot 10 hours put in this game, so I guess I'm like a next-level noob, noob +1.

    I'm not actually Daffy Duck

Thank you, I'll try some of those out, problem with the village I was in was that I had half of the servers zombies (I swear). I play on low pop servers because I find there are more kind players, it's also easier to get used to the game so that I can eventually survive on a high pop server. I wish I had access to silent weapons, but I haven't found a downed chopper yet (that contains silenced weapons right?).

    Few noob questions..

The reason you haven't seen anyone typing is because they have to be within a certain range of you and type in direct chat. Press "." to change to direct communications. There is no more "global chat" (side-chat). As for ideal graphics settings for gameplay, turn off post processing, I don't know about the rest.

    I'm not actually Daffy Duck

What do you do when you aggro these zeds? I usually just up and run into the nearest forest, but I sense that this isn't the brightest method of dealing with them.
