|Ahh, sounds like a neat thing to do next time i get on dayz :) No. No it's an exploit and it's a dick move. -
Yeah :/ You can't put a graphics card into a laptop motherboard, i mean know it might be possible with intel thunderbolt but that's not really commercially available right now
-
Yep, it's the integrated graphics

I think part of the reason bandits are some prominent is that the pros to being a bandit out weigh those of being a friendly. Just last night I had my first "dick move" moment. My friend and I are scavenging elektro at night, and I throw a chemlight in front of the church to quickly check for zambambos or other players. Suddenly in the chat "I am friendly, don't speak much english, in the church" My friend and I quickly run into the church and find what seems to be an un armed survivor who keeps saying not too shoot him in the chat. Suddenly he goes into his gear. Fearing the worst (that he would pull a gun out of his czech backpack) I dropped him. Did i fefel like a dick after checking his body for guns? Absolutely. But in this game you really can't trust anyone, and the pros that came out of the situation were that I got some basic gear. The pros to being friendly? probably nothing. I'd continue to worry that he was going to shoot me, and have to split any loot we found. At least with a real life friend I know he isn't going to shoot me, but sadly when people are just pixels on the screen, it's easier to betray or be betrayed yourself.

A lot of people say that going north is best for new players, I'm fairly new, and have only played for 3 days, but staying by cherno and elektro has been pretty fruitful for me. I've died 3 times now, and I can say that on every death I had to look at what happened, and learn. Every time you spawn on that coast line you need to think of it as a new adventure, and how you'll survive this adventure longer than your last. Anyway, I would stay in the cities, after looking at this map for a reference http://dayzdb.com/map and pin pointing my location, I can now navigate both cherno and elektro with out any maps, the back yards, alleys, dead ends, I know them like the back of my hand now. By learning these cities streets, I now know where loot spawns, in elektro, check the fire station, The best gun I've picked up there was an AK, but it had no ammo. However my friend has found the remington there (shotgun w/ tactical flashlight) and I've found the m1014 (semi auto shot gun) and the M1911 (Powerful pistol) as well. After hitting up the fire station I generally head to the hospital, and end off by raiding the super market. Anyway, that's my two cents, I know most people say go North, but I find the lack of cities hard to deal with, I've been up in the wilderness, and strolling around for literally hours with no sight of a city or other players and that just gets boring. Learn to scavenge the cities, you will die, but it will be fun, eventually you'll learn where you can't sprint and where you can book it with out being sniped. Now I find I can usually find a gun (not the hatchet) in 1--15 minutes if I spawn in Elektro or Cherno. It can be annoying, but once you learn how to navigate the cities and get stocked with some guns, you'll be much more prepared to trek north!

Cant login to server stuck on loading "Help"
RainbowCo replied to Clint0578's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I suffer from this bug every now and then, right now I'm experiencing a graphical glitch so it doesn't matter whether I get in game or not, but usually i come across the black loading screen if my dayz version and beta patch don't match up with the server's. When you launch DayZ check in the bottom right corner of the main menu, it will say your dayz version along with the current beta patch you're running. Try to find a server with the same specs (If you're running the latest "stable" beta patch and dayz update you shouldn't have any problems finding a server with the same specs) -
Also suffering from this bug in cherno. After taking some screen shots for reference I got kicked off for "Battle eye: failed to update" the errors probably aren't connected at all, but I only got the battle eye one once the graphics got buggy.

Woopsies, my bad. All you have to do is load up Operation Arrowhead, and from the main menu instaed of going to multiplayer, navigate to the tutorials, and you'll load up in game tutorials, it's not a guide on the internet, it's concrete in game training.
-
You talk about wanting to know how to load the guns, interact with your gear, etc. Try the Base Operation Arrowhead Tutorials. They're pretty under rated, but I think they're essential, you'll learn how to read maps, shoot various guns, zero in scopes, throw a grenade or two... or 15, you'll look at the different ways to move if you haven't figured them out, and when you start really raking it in on dayZ, you might even need to look at that helicopter tutorial :P best of luck out there! (P.S. Yes you will learn how to use your watch flashlight map etc.)

Yep... I've re installed too but I'm still stuck at this black loading screen.

hey guys, I had arma 2 and Operation arrowhead, and recently re installed them. Arma2's disk was scratched and wouldnt install, but OA installed fine. I installed arma 2 free and and the dayZ mod, as well as the latest beta patch. I was able to get on one server but anything else leaves me with a black loading screen, any suggestions?
