Well, just had possibly the best experience yet. On DE1611 I believe I spawned right by Elektro and made my way towards the firehouse/supermarket/police station(Is that what its called?) area to stock up. I passed 2 people who both had guns, but thankfully were either nice, or out of ammo as it went without incident. Sprinted to the fire station but it looked like it had been looted already, I waited till the zombies who had been chasing to amble off, then cautiously I crouched to the church. I noticed that a bus had embedded itself in the church wall, I was tempted to try it, but its not exactly the best area to start experimenting. The church had a M1911 but no ammo, plus a couple of extra bits, drinks and flares. From the church I headed to the police station, and found a double barrelled shotgun but only 2 shells for it, not a good sign for this spawn. While looting the police station, I started hearing pistol shots, it wasnt far so I made the decision to get to the supermarket and get out. I reached the supermarket and was thrilled when I spotted a crossbow and 3 bolts. My begining weapon of choice, sweet. I also found some food and a makarov, so I finally thought its starting to go ok. I started towards the exit when another survivor walked in with a lee enfield pointed at me, so much for it going better. I hid behind the shelves for cover and typed 'friendly'. I waited but no response, but on the plus side, no bullet to the brain either. I peeked round and saw he was looting, fair enough, but I didnt want to chance it any further. Sprinting for the door and heading for the cafe I got a message asking for help for a blood transfusion, so maybe friendly after all. I said we should head to the hospital and pick some up. We reached the hospital, the journey was mostly taken with a crossbow aimed in their general direction just in case, no offence, but people can be coward dicks. I went through the boxes in the hospital but they were all empty of blood, which I told the guy. I did the good samaritan thing and gave all my food into his backpack, and saw a blood pack on the floor smh. A few zombies later I had given my first transfusion, my new buddy then decided that I was surplus to requirements and sprinted off towards the docks. I watched him go Benny Hill style as he accumulated zombies and ran around trying to get rid of them, hilarious. He then ran towards me so I started using my crossbow bolts on the closest zombies, wishing I hadnt stayed to watch. Someone else with a pistol appeared, things started to look bad again. As more zombies started to swarm a god damn bus rolled to a stop just round the corner, the same bus that was outside the church. The possibility of a horde of zombies over a possible player killer driving a bus was too hard to pass up, plus maybe I could sneak into a back seat while he wasnt looking. ;) I ran around to the front to see the drivers seat empty, the driver had obviously got out and was dealing with zeds so I ran for the door and jumped in...the drivers seat. I was going to hop in the back and sit really still when there were loud shots and I suddenly had fractures. Oh great, the driver thinks Im stealing his bus, well OK if he thinks that Im not going to disappoint. Vroom, and Im off. More shots and the engine indicator goes red. Come on you piece of ****, get me out of here. The bus soldiered on despite the damage and I was free of Elektro and heading north. Happy that I had got my second bus since playing Dayz, and that it was the second bus borrowed from those that had repaired it. I shall call it Wiggles! Just outside Elektro I decided I wanted to head towards Cherno instead, so after a quick turnaround I was back heading towards the mayhem I had just left. I drove past the hospital towards the fire station, shots rang out but no source. I left Elektro with no further incident. I went through Cherno and carried on all the way to the west map edge, but nothing happened, so I turned round to head back towards Cherno. As I reached the heavy industrial railyard area I went along the tracks to avoide the road debris, just as I reached the yard someone stepped out pointing a gun at me. I did what any self respecting bus driver would do, I ran him down. This had consequences though, the bus hit a small, black, trackside box and busted a wheel, well it looks like my driving adventure was over. I got out and the guy I had run down was on the floor trying to shoot me! How rude! He started rolling to avoid me (obviously broken leg), but a makarov clip soon took care of that. After looting the body I started to search the nearby sheds for a new wheel so maybe I could continue. I searched most of the sheds when I heard the bus engine start up, someone was trying to steal the bus I had stole, people were a lot more rude in Cherno obviously. Sprinting back to the bus, makarov drawn (yeah I know, but I didnt have anything else), started firing at the windscreen hoping for a lucky shot. The guy got out, and in his hands was an AK, well an AK vs a crossbow/makarov wasnt very fair, but I wasnt going to let the bus go without a fight. A running firefight ensued around the sheds with me taking a couple of hits, I was bleeding and needed to hide. In a bush and bandaged up I waited, it was very quiet and I had seen a couple of '... is dead' messages. I hoped maybe I had got a lucky shot off, I creeped out and had a look round, BLAM BLAM, two shots in the back, but I was still standing. I sprinted round a building went to prone and aimed at where I had just been, and waited, I took the chance to bandage up when BLAM, BLAM, BLAM, three shots to the head, instantly dead. Someone obviously wanted that bus! Ace fun.

Having just spawned just east of Elektro, having been murdered again by someone claiming to be friendly in Cherno, being a bit butt-hurt from losing some decent stuff, (I know dont get attached, but its still a pisser sometimes) being of the 'glass half full' variety, I make the decision to go against my nature and trust no-one I see in the cities. I find a hatchet in teh warehouse by the rail tracks just outside of elektro and head towards the sniping hill. Give it a quick sweep to make sure theres no lame snipers hiding there and head towards the supermarket. Just as Im going to cross the road I spot movement in the cafe across the road, a zombie going in. I watch it a bit more and see someone upstairs with a hatchet hacking away (at zombies?). I watch and wait, he comes out and heads towards the supermarket, but hasnt seen me. I follow right behind him adn as he bends down to check the first loot pile I swing my hatchet, then again, and again, and a few more times till I hear the final squeal. Then I felt bad for the guy, I checked his stuff but he didnt have anything even worth stealing (I know, how rude?).. So my first kill in cold blood, it didnt feel good, but I think it might be the only way to survive in the cities for me now.....

My story; Been playing Dayz now for about 3 weeks, had some nice gear come and go, nothing top spec but some nice things amongst the empty tin cans. My only issue was I had never seen or even heard any vehicles, land, sea, or air. I first chalked this to the fact I mainly stay along the coast and have read that people like to stockpile and hide the vehicles in remote areas. Well two days ago just on a fresh spawn I came across a boat and a bus on the beach next to the factory, just north of Solnichniy. I figure theres very little chance of them spawning together so must be someone stocking up, rather than scope the place for any activity I sprinted for the bus and jumped in the drivers seat. Fully repaired and fully fueled, yes! Hoping to not be noticed I make a break north along the coast road in my shiny new bus. After a few minutes I hit he road end at Berezino. I turn the bus south west hoping to double back onto the coastal road via the south part of Berezino. I reached the supermarket near some military outpost but the road was blocked with vehicles and anti-tank girder type things. I tried to reverse the bus out and do a 3 point turn. Needless to say I go tthe ass end of the bus stuck on some rubble, I tried dislodging it but it wouldnt budge. I bailed out leaving the engine running which was a mistake as all that did was attract around 15 zeds to the engine noise. I made a break for the supermarket and lost a lot of blood in the process. Out the back of the supermarket I ran all the way back to where I picked the bus up from. The boat was still there! Oh joy, I ran to it and it was fully repaired just out of fuel, damnit. Not that bad because I am always finding car parts and fuel cans, so I thought it wouldnt take me long to find some. I spent two hours searching and finding no fuel, how ironic. Eventually I found some in, I think, Kamyshovo, dumping some good gear to make space. My hopes were up, just praying the boat was still there. I ran along the coastal road not worrying about the nice train of zeds that were trailing me. It will be OK when I reach the boat, I thought. I eventually spotted the boat in the distance and knew it wouldnt be long till I would be cruising the water. I reached the boat, put 20litres in and jumped in the drivers seat, engine on and..... that was it, the engine wanted to go, but the boat was stuck on the beach and would not come off. What a waste of time. Karma for stealing the bus I suppose lol. Maybe I could have used the bus to push the boat out, who knows.

Suggestion for shopping carts

If we are talking self powered transport I think a bicycle would be a better choice, and prob less hassle on programming. How would you program 1 realistic wobbly wheel? What about a hobos bindle? -
I was just thinking about the idea of a zombie horde/swarm/pack of say 50 zombies (or however many a server could maintain in a single area without stressing it) that travels round the map, not just keeping to the same populated areas like normal zombies. I think it would add an element of excitement and randomness, say while running through a forest or along a deserted road, turn and spot a zombie horde. Do you take cover and try to hide and wait for them to pass, or try to make a run for it? You could always try to take them on :D This would keep people on their toes when in wilderness and deserted areas. Just an idea. Think of the car jam road episode of Walking Dead where the little girl gets lost after the horde of zombies travel along the highway.

I like the shoot on site, wandering squads of soldiers idea, as well as the last stand, military outpost idea. How easy they would be to implement, avoid being exploited and what effect it would have on the game as a whole though, I guess would have to be seen.

At least it would be a vehicle that couldnt be hidden away.

PSP, Google Images and an hour of time. ;) Didnt see it sorry. And thanks for the beans, could have done with some franks in :P lol

I paid £15 ($23.62) for the Arma 2 CO double pack direct from BI. I see that as an amazing price for what you get. I just dont like subscription based play.

Just a couple of suggestions; 1, Louder zombie footsteps. Lost count of the amount of times ive been creeping around quietly and a zombie has run up behind me without making a sound, usually the first thing you know is the screen goes gray as he starts to wail on you. Zombies wouldnt use stealth or creep, so you should be able to hear them shuffle, crawling and running. 2, Players bodies become zombies. Dont jump on this before you read it. I know players becoming zombies has been suggested, Im not talking about actual players. What Im talking about is if players get killed by zombies, the player dies as now, but their corpse becomes one of the AI controlled zombie horde. If players have died as a result of PvP then the bodies would be as they are now. This would add a few elements to play. -If anyone wants to loot your corpse, theyve got to work for it. -The examine body function doesnt seem to work properly (at least, for me, it doesnt say how they died), it might be an indication to others of what has happened in the area. If there a lot of zombies in an area you may see a lot of players corpse zombies, or possibly sniper activity if there are just player corpses on the ground. -And the obvious one, isnt that how the zombie infections spread? Zombie attacks human, human becomes another zombie? Apologies if suggested before.

Thanks, I did read that, my question was more kind of a general 'when they are put back in...' -

Ive not seen a heli yet, so my question may seem dumb. Is there a constant number of helicopter spawns? If so, if a player crashes a heli, does another respawn or are player crashed helis repairable? -
Why do it though? I sort of get the whole power over genuine players thing, but seriously, its just a game. Hacking the game at the current levels of stupidity just stops it being a game. IF you were only spawning stuff/gear/vehicles to give yourself an edge, then maybe it would still be a game, not a very challenging game, but still. The whole teleport/changing things/mass kill thing I just dont get. You seem to think that it has some sort of power over those that play genuinely, but it doesnt. It just encourages them to stop playing so the mod quickly dies and then your left hacking no-one. I mean come on, do you guys seriously suck so much at this game that you dont want to play it for the experience it is, you would rather just ruin it for yourself as well as others? Im not very good at all, but I am learning how to be better at it, but I would never consider cheating, let alone these stupid hacks. Doesnt sound very smart to me. Please dont take this as a 'boo hoo', butt-hurt, wail at you, its not. Nor is it directly aimed at you, its just there doesnt seem to be many people admitting to hacking, so its in your direction, just not specifically at you. People like you do not bother me in the slightest, Ill just move along to another game, easy come, easy go. Its more about just understanding the reason for doing it and as to why try ruining a game that has so much potential? Heres hoping to getting a proper answer rather than just some lame flame attempt.

Just joined, first post, hope its in the right place and done properly. I have been reading the hacking threads, so Im not adding this as a 'there are hackers' thread, just putting my evidence so that maybe these people can be dealt with. The server was GB #00, today around 13:24 GMT. Seconds after respawning I was teleported to a plain, flat area where I was surrounded by goats and couldnt move. 30 seconds later, I was teleported to somewhere along the coast and high into the sky, there seemed to be around 9 other players around me. We just seemed to be floating there, but the player animations were of swimming and treading water. There seemed to be a lot of bodies falling, but I could not tell if these were players or just spawned 'actors' (for want of a better word). Then every few seconds the message that player x, player y or player z had been killed popped up. I logged out after about 2 minutes. I did get a fraps video of the floating with the other players, I also browsed the player list while fraps was recording in case it was of any use. Screenshots Heres the link to the video http://depositfiles.com/files/u0xsip4cl 28MB .mkv Sorry I dont use youtube. Hope this helps. Many Thanks Rhoobarb

It wasnt intentionally so lol, if you watch the video (I do pan the view around a bit) its just a group of people floating above raining bodies :S

Im not sure what you mean by 'art'? It just seems so pointless, there is not skill to it, certainly no honour or pride in doing it, so why do it?? This sort of thing was the reason I gave up with online multiplayer back with Jedi Knight I saw the writing on the wall way back then.
