There is more. The bandit currently aiming at your head normally has it. Those are the airfields. Decide for yourself if that's worth it.

I'm not sure how much they altered the original values from arma2. Those however were very very accurate. Not as good as with the ACE2 mod, but still pretty realistic. Take the SVD for example. It has this scope: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-lrpfFQnoqC8/TzhjZAy-lAI/AAAAAAAADbE/4XZSTNU4CUo/s1600/Ranging.jpg In Arma this scope actually works. You can measure distances with the scale on the left, and then aim accordingly using the different rangemarks on the crosshair. That should give you an rough idea about the realism.

In that case you dont know about that magical thing called the windows registry. run > regedit look for: 1. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Bohemia Interactive Studio 2. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Bohemia Interactive Studio should be somewhere there, cant tell you exactly right now.

It most certainly does.

Random numbers are always an essential part of games. This has nothing to do with difficulty, but with diversity. Fixing the glitches is a different story, I agree. However let me remind you of this sentence in your opening post: This led me to tell you that you died not because you weren't lucky, but because you took an uncontrollable risk and failed.

Its not tied to your computer, just to your cdkey.

Oh I do get that. But you said that fighting zombies is easy. Well... if that is the case then nothing can happen, right? Somehow you still got killed though, so maybe you underestimated the situation and didnt use enough caution. That's all I'm saying, everything else was just examples. This game is unforgiving when you take risks. Sometimes it works and pays off, sometimes it goes wrong and you die. Minimizing risk = maximizing survivability. Fighting a group of zeds out in the open just because its easy, is a definite risk. (and in no way a necessary risk as zombies can easily be avoided outside)

Surely you werent carrying a gun and backpack full of supplies at the time. :dodgy:

Can you starve to death or die of thirst whilst logged out?

What is the reason behind this mechanic btw. ? Why drain food when we're offline? Doesn't really make much sense to me and it seems a bit unfair towards players who can only play for short periods per day. -
It really doesnt. What I'm saying is just that it is your very own fault if you even let it come to that. The risk of getting knocked down can be avoided by keeping your distance to the zeds. So its not like you dont have control over it.

Some zombies in the woods/up north.
tajin replied to Outsider (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I like the idea of dangerous (probably also zombified) animals in the woods. But regular zombies dont make much sense there. Stalker online has some rather terrifying mutant bears (they're gigantic and very hard to kill), those would be awesome. -

Bad things happen all the time and often completely random, thats life. Problem is that you rely on it that they don't happen to you or that you get a warning before it gets critical. Thats not how it works. A lucky blow can be fatal. You could trip over some rubble on the ground, you could loose balance or whatnot... theres always a chance for this to happen. This is almost a non-factor if you're careful. Hell I bet one could even play the game without ever having to fight a single zombie.
-
I can still yet at my pal over TS to save my sorry ass. That means I'm still in control! :P Number one rule for surviving against zombie hordes in DayZ is to always immediatly run into the next building. Then as long as you have enough ammo, you have absolutely nothing to worry about. Hell... if the building is big enough, you can even sit there and bandage youself easily while they slowly shuffle towards you.
-
Getting knocked down simply tells you one thing.... or actually two things: a) be more careful b) don't travel alone I think it should stay.
-
Aye. Shooting people out of moving vehicles is also fun. Thats an art I've been practicing since OFP. Nice story though. ;)

I really like the fact that the game has some aspects that encourage you to try and group up with others instead of just mindlessly gunning everyone down. Also, as far as "skill" is concerned. If you're skilled... then you dont get into close quarter combat with zombies if you can avoid it. (and most of the time you easily can)

If there was an autojoin, others would use it aswell, so it wouldn't make any real difference. Just keep hitting your join-button. (I really hope the devs have thought about ways to clean up their char-DB, we currently have a capacity of over 700 players online at the same time and with all those dead chars stored... well.)

Yeh like i said: If the servers are tied to our real word date, then the moon-cycle on the servers also depend on that. Got it ?
-
The day/night cycle is an arma-thing. Same goes for the moon. Depends solely on the date the server is set to. So if they use the current date, that would explain why all servers behave more or less identicall in this matter. Aside from that, your personal graphic settings ofc also make a huge difference. Darkest nights are usually with no moon and no clouds. Sorry for the harshness though, it wasnt really because of this topic.

Good god. You know... there is something... I don't know... some call it "moon". Heard of that phenomenon? It's not allways there, so its not always bright. Use some commonsense before you go around using hightech stuff like NVGs.
