    Suggestion for new name

If anything is silly, then it would be to change the name of a project that has already gained so much popularity. I personally rather like the second meaning in that name (intentional or not), seeing as Z is the last letter in the alphabet and therefor similar to "omega", represents the end. Hence DayZ also stants for the end of days ^^ A little far fetched, I know... Anyway, no point in changing it. Besides, every name can be made fun of – if you really want to.
  2. Don't play on a server with crosshairs enabled so noone can magically measure the distance and simply dial it in on the CZ. Aside from that, distances in ArmA are easily overestimated, especially when you're used to other games. Besides, in other games, people start use their sniper rifles as soon as something is more than 50 meters away. Thats not really a wise thing to do in ArmA. A sniperrifle only really outclasses assaultrifles at ranges way over 200 meters. I.E. I could rather easily pop your head with an M16 from 200 meters away, using only ironsights. The scope sure makes it easier to spot people, but it also limits your awareness and is rather slow to use effectively. When you use the CZ or similar guns on a range where they actually outclass regular rifles, then you also have to try quite a bit harder to hit a target on first shot. Especially a moving one. (if you're smart, you learn to avoid moving in straight lines) To sum it up, I don't really have much of a problem with sniper rifles in ArmA. They fill their role, and that is fine. It's not really the weapon that kills you, its the situation and how you handle it.

    New HUD icon

Here, that should shed some light on things: Full interview can be found here: http://games.on.net/article/15603/I_didnt_want_any_sense_of_balance_at_all._I_wanted_it_to_be_an_anti-game_Dean_Rocket_Hall_on_Day_Z_Part_1

    New starter weapon [PIC]

Hmm.... well, there are rabbits and chickens around, go figure. :D

    anyone tried a controller?

A friend did that a while ago (regular ArmA), we're still making fun of him because of that. People playing ArmA with a controller simply cannot be taken serious. (using it only for vehicles is valid though) Try it at ur own risk.

    Spawning in "Wilderness"

It's not an admin command, this is due to the last patch. As far as I can tell it happend to pretty much everyone after logging in for the first time after the patch. If it occurs otherwise, it might be due to hackers or an actual bug (not so likely).

    I keep respawning dead.

Hmm, in that case it must be a bug. Also, the punishment I was talking about is just for logging out after taking damage (or after dealing damage to a player), not if you actually die.

    Tower defense DayZ

You've surely noticed the loo's that can be found in some villages (they even have loot inside). If you manage to capture someone alive (by intimitating him with sheer number), tell him to lower his weapon and turn his back towards you... now tell him to walk into the loo and stand there. Once he enters, close the door behind him. Sounds boring? Well, heres the catch: The loo is too tiny to able to turn around in it, so he wont be able to open the door and get back out by himself. Enjoy ;) (also works well as a prank to play on friends when they happen to wander into a loo)

    I keep respawning dead.

You're not dead, just unconcious as punishment for logging out too short after recieving damage. Simply wait 3 minutes. You're only really dead when you see the dayz-logo.
  10. Well, ArmA has motorbikes (even bicycles). I'm not sure if they spawn, but I've seen a couple of ATVs.

    Trains

Learn to read. His "not at all" was related to your "Is it only my opinion that Alt-F4-ing players should get permaban?"
  12. That functionality is there, to allow you to play with the gear you've found even when your favourite server is full or unavailable. It's not really intended for jumping from server to server once you've found a good spot with loot. What that does, is it puts more pressure on the hive making it more likely that it may not save your gear in time when you jump back out. So this actually promotes the sort of bug (rollback) you encountered. (not the part about spawning on the beach, that was related to the patch) It's a good practice to check the debug monitor and make sure you'r character is actually saved before disconnecting. It should save automatically when you leave but I wouldn't always count on that, considering how overloaded the hive must be.

    Forced first person view?

I agree on the point of spatial awareness (which is actually one the arma devs mentioned themselves) but in a pvp-environment the downsides outweight that by far. While spatial awareness is somewhat reduced, the immersion is always better from the first person perspective. (the original meaning of the word "immersion" (to dive in) already tells that) Try doubletapping your minus key when your in a confined space. That will decrease and lock your zoomlevel, resulting in a bigger FoV. Finally, I do like using third person in ArmA myself (when travelling around, or simply to check if im properly camoflaged) but this whole "baaa, I can't play without it!!!!11!" is bullshit.

    Server issue

I'd much prefer them to focus on making ArmA3 as awesome as possible. Maybe they could even squish some of the usual release-bugs in advance. :)

    Forced first person view?

Well then maybe you shouldn't be trying to wield something like a winchester or enfield in confined spaces. Use a more compact weapon or switch to your sidearm. (That has little to do with first person btw)
  16. Theres a suggestion forum, you know? btw.: A plethora of different mines (also ones with tripwires) are available in ACE2, go check them out. I'd especially love to see the signalmines here: Cross the tripwire and the mine will light up like a flare, emitting smoke and light.
  17. Horses? Who needs horses? Just let me ride on one of those wild boars, while wielding an M249. THAT would be awesome. ;) Anyway, this is something that would require a lot of work to implement properly. I wouldn't expect it to happen.

    Forced first person view?

A dot in the middle of your screen is of little use as the bullets do not originate from your viewpoint as they do in many other games. They actually come from the muzzle of your gun. If you worry about fov, you can zoom out or look around. More fov isn't always good anyway. Arma has much detail, the more you see the harder it is to notice details. Looking around is important, no matter what. Those imbalances as you call them are marginal. - To all those persons claiming they would stop playing if they couldn't have third person.: If that headbobbing annoys you so badly... disable it. Ok, first person here is somewhat different to other games, but not completely and after getting used to it, it shouldn't be a problem at all. If you're all like "hurr durr, I'm Lara Croft from Tombraider and I need my thirdperson view!" then maybe this game isn't for you. ;)
  19. Serverhopping for loot... boooh ! Really... :dodgy:

    The Infamous 'Bird Simulator'

Just saying: Walking in the middle of the road is not really careful. Roads are ok but never walk directly on them, only next to them. Otherwise you'll be easier to spot for both zombies and hostile players.
  21. Oh yeah, I think you're right. Didn't pay attention to that when I found it. :/ Was on some dead player in Cherno. Maybe a clientside script should be added that automatically removes such items from the local inventory. Reduces the risk of autobanning people simply for picking something up. Too bad, I've grown used to it. :(

    How about some T34?

I don't think that's a good idea. A Huey can be shot down/disabled with either well aimed or concentrated gunfire. That is not the case with an T34. Beside beeing able to easily knock down fences/walls can lead to some nasty problems in multiplayer that I don't really want to explain further.
  23. Try searching the fourm, the other questions have all been answered before, several times. ;) Just one thing: Tents and vehicles are persistant only on the server where they currently are. SD weapons are sure useful against zombies. Though it can still go wrong. Personally I love taking an MakarovSD with me, it can use regular makarov ammo aswell (makes no difference to the zombies) so I never run out. It's not very accurate though, so you usually have to get pretty close. M4A1SD is pretty nice too, that one however only accepts SD-ammo and can be a bit weak in a PVP situation. ps.: There are several coop-communities that are quite friendly to newcomers, as long as they behave. So thats not much of a problem usually.
