Snipers poll, what is your main gun?

Or you could just learn to aim for the head. I've only fired six bullets with my current DMR and yet I've gotten four kills. So I'm afraid your shot-kill efficiency is a tad inaccurate.

Sniper Chronicles: Being A Better Sniper

If you can't do it in one shot then don't do it. A motto I've come to live by as a solo sniper. Seems to have served me well so far.

No night time?! That's BS. The best things happen in the dark.

Need Help! I need some1 to come kill me please!

Good idea. Playing Justin Bieber music over your mic may help speed up this process as well.

Why the Hero skin is useless

I still think the forced "good" and "evil" skin changes are a complete waste of time, regardless of deliberate attempts to cheat the system.

    "Balancing" Survivors and Bandits

So you complain about people using Alt+F4 tactics to avoid dying and your response is... to do the exact same thing? Seems legit.

    The carebears BECAME the hackers

Actually there are some rare hackers that even I don't mind. Guys who do things like just mentally screw with other players or do absolutely hilarious things that doesn't even harm anyone (usually). Like the guy who got a Ronald McDonald skin who was running around scaring people with an axe and creepy mic music. Most of the time those guys don't even kill the other player (usually), they just like to screw with them. So I'd say those hackers aren't the former carebears. Perhaps that is what happens when a bandit evolves to the hacker stage? (This post suddenly turned into a Pokemon-esque view of psychology...)

    "Balancing" Survivors and Bandits

You guys wouldn't have so many problems if, instead of complaining, you learned how to survive instead. This is supposed to be a hard game and players are much harder than zombies are. If you're still running down the middle of a road carrying a lit road flare and then complaining that you got shot, then you deserved it. When you can learn to scout an area before moving into it, stick close to cover in case a sniper does take a shot at you, and to always keep moving when out in the open then you'll almost never get killed. I haven't died to a player or zombie in the last few weeks at all (not counting hackers that kill off whole servers, of course). I play by myself but I'm cautious as hell and don't take risks if I don't want to die. You just need to learn how to play the game and you'll find that even surviving players is relativily easy most of the time. And I'm not talking about Alt+F4 every time you hear a gunshot either. That's not playing the game, it's just being a wimp. If someone kills me without hacks, then that's fine. They got the best of me and I should learn from my mistakes and move on. Not post on the forums complaining that life isn't fair. As for Electro/Cherno snipers, I think we all agree that those guys are asshats so might as well just avoid those areas completely and save yourself the headache. Until duping/hacking is removed and rare snipers actually become rare, they won't go away.

    Be creative.

I plan on doing just that after my current character dies or after I get tired of carrying all my "end game" loot on me and decide to finally stash it somewhere. I wonder... can you kill someone by running them over with a bicycle? New goal in life: Kill someone by running them over with a bike while playing the Pokemon bike theme music over my mic.
  10. Professional N00b

how do you end game? what is end game for you?

My endgame goal is run through Electro on a high pop daytime server while carrying nothing but a bandage and a flashlight and aggro every single zombie while blasting "Eye of the Tiger" over my mic.

UPDATED DAILY: I'm Issuing a Warning to Any Snipers

  12. If the items really were rare and duping/hacks were not an issue then I'd say it would be okay to have them. As it is now it's just annoying to see morons using a spray and pray method to mow down new spawns with sniper rifles, of all things. Those aren't snipers, they're just maniacs with long range rifles. So if that's how the guns are going to be used then I wouldn't mind them getting removed. I prefer more of a challenge anyway, an AS50 (which I've yet to find) would be too easy to get kills, in my opinion. DMR for the win.

Big Foot In Dayz - READ

Just watched the video and you really didn't do anything other than go on and on about how you saw something you couldn't identify. Granted that's the same thing most of these accounts are like in real life, but I really failed to see the point of the video or the post when you really didn't have anything to show.

I sniped a guy the other day and while watching the in game chat managed to see: "Hitler was killed." See? Us snipers aren't all bad.

    Hero Skin Bandits

Honestly how can anyone see a game mechanic like the humanity in the current DayZ version and NOT think about exploiting it? I mean, it practically screams from the rooftops that it not only is easy to "break" but in fact almost encourages it. If I had the resources and wasn't content with my current ghillie suit, I'd probably do this too just to make a point of it. Trying to force everyone to be "good" or "bad" simply doesn't work in a game like DayZ. In fact, the whole point was that you had no idea who was friend and who was foe, and to be very very careful about who you approach. With bandits doing stuff like this, maybe things will stay like that. Not sure about the banning of people who Alt+F4 part, but then again, I'd probably do the same given how often it happens.

(Rocket) Why are we logging in on the coast

Because server hopping in general is not bad, most of us have several servers we like to play on. Punishing people for trying to reconnect to fix graphical glitches, avoid hackers, or one of a hundred other reasons is game breaking. The only forms of server hopping that were problematic is people who alt+F4 when being shot at or who do it to ghost around people, which a simple cooldown timer would have sufficed. But making everyone who changes a server for any reason spawn on the coast is not "fixing server hopping".

(Rocket) Why are we logging in on the coast

Well hope it gets announced when this "bug" gets fixed. Because I'm not playing until it is. 5km hike back to my spot every time I login along with spawning on the coast with ghillie and full gear? No thanks.

    Best Patch EVER

As a programmer, I can certainly confirm that alpha version are always going to be buggy. Especially when a new patch is released (or even better, just being tested and hasn't "officially" released yet). That being said, I am a bit disappointed at some of the problems that just keep popping up in the game. Graphical glitches I can understand, those are card dependent usually and are difficult to test when you have a small team. But the spawning on the coast stuff that seems to happen with almost every update? Surely someone would catch a bug like that during QA and keep it from being released at all until this is fixed. While the product may be free at the moment, there is still the pride as a programmer to only release code that has been tested enough to prevent massive bugs like this. It's that kind of professional mannerism that not only Rocket and his team lack, but most game companies in general these days.
  23. Professional N00b

What is your Character's D&D alignment?

Neutral Evil usually. Depends on my mood.
  24. Professional N00b

Spawning at the coast, anyone else?

You'd think a bug this bad would never have made it past any QA that the mod team does before publishing it out. I haven't even updated and I'm having the same issue. Hope it gets fixed soon, I'm not spending an hour running inland again just for the damn bug to throw me back to the coast again.

    Bandit skin is awesome

I have to say that I really don't like the new system at all. It's too "good vs. evil". Trying to force a stereotype or a style of gameplay on someone just because they've had a few murders seems silly. I personally don't care since I always act as though everyone else is KoS in the first place, but I think it's a step in the wrong direction. The idea that anyone you meet could either be a murderous psychopath or a guardian angel was part of what made the tension so great in this game, especially when you first saw someone else. It was the absense of stereotypes and "classes" that really helped me get into it, to be honest. While this isn't game breaking for me, I really don't like the way it's implimented. Still, might cut down on the tons of threads of people whining about being tricked..... Maybe.
