Worst addition to the game? Hackers.

AKM is my favorite for it's ability to both kill zombies and players with ease and it isn't too loud. You can also zero it in up to 800 meters (though hitting a target at that range with the iron sights takes some practice) so it's a very versatile weapon that does good damage. The FN FAL I haven't ever had the chance to use. But from what I've researched, it does even more damage at the cost of being louder, having more recoil, MUCH rarer ammo, and (I think) the inability to zero in the way the AKM does. So overall, I'd personally choose the AKM for it's flexibility but if you have a group then the FN FAL may be the best since you can afford to specialize your weapons more than usual.

I played Arma 2 after DayZ for awhile but I think I have psychological effects leftover still. I can't see a good loot location without running into it even though I know loot doesn't spawn like that in vanilla Amra. It's just so sad when I don't find nice piles of loot laying where I expect them to be :(

It all started when I logged into my usual sniper spot south of Stary and spotted another guy in a ghillie suit laying prone just 3-4 meters from me to my left. Turned around and, without thinking, shot him in the face with my DMR. Turns out he had an AS50, range finders, and tons of other awesome stuff. Basically all the best gear in the game. Sadly, I was so excited that within five minutes I somehow got shot in the face by another AS50 from out of nowhere, despite the fact that I was in a ghillie and under a large pine tree. I was pretty damn sad as I respawned until I made my way about 800-1000 meters into the woodline north of the coast and spotted a tent. Checked it out... AS50, ghillie, rangefinders, coyote backpack, tools.... everything I had lost plus some. It seems the gods of DayZ were looking out for me after all.

Just one well placed satchel charge... just one... That would be beautiful.

I just want to get a light machine gun and kill zombies to AC DC. That's all I really want in life.

I knew about the speed bit but they have resistance to damage too? Won't affect me since I snipe for the head anyway, but that's still extremely stupid. What kind of sandbox game punishes a particular gameplay style? Honestly I've not been terribly impressed with most of the latest features that have been added and discussed. Would rather bugs be fixed rather than adding new problems.

Normally I can't stand hackers but there are a rare few in these games that I actually enjoy. Mainly the trolling ones that will just freak players out without harming them or ruining the gameplay for them. Those guys are always hilarious, especially if they do it right. People who spawn in weapons, make themselves invincible, or various other hacks to improve their odds are sad and ruin the game more for themselves than anyone else. The real problems are the assholes who kill everyone on a server, teleport players, or otherwise affect people other than themselves through non-legit means. Those guys are beyond me, I can never figure out what they get out of it.

You know, there are ways to avoid getting sniped. I've only gotten killed by a sniper once and that was because I was an idiot and stood around looting the body of someone I just killed for way too long, a body which apparently had a buddy coming after it. If you keep moving, stay away from windows, and avoid open spaces whenever you can, then you'll be fine. Very few of the so called "snipers" in the game are nothing more than morons with long range rifles. They can barely manage to hit someone saluting them at 400m away, much less a moving target that is staying partially hidden by using bushes and fences. Also, for God's sake, don't go prone when getting shot at with a sniper in a field! I can't tell you the number of people I've killed just because they decided to go prone the instant they heard my gun fire, whether I missed or not. Instead, get your ass up and haul it to the nearest cover while listening for the direction of the shots. THAT is how you screw over a sniper.

It's not just the look of your character that gets altered either. People with Hero skins DO run faster than those with bandit skins, so it is a deliberate attempt to punish a particular style of play. Haven't experimented with survivor vs. bandit, but I'm willing to bet the bandit "style" is the slowest of the three possibilities. Honestly I can't wait for this to get removed in the stand alone, and I don't even get a bandit skin due to my humanity recovering before I can kill again.

I agree. The female models should all be wearing nothing but underwear while having massive boobs that would normally break their spine. Just like every other video game model out there.

I use Astro A30's myself. I don't even use the mixer that they sell for it, I just use them plain and I can still locate gunshots or footsteps really easily.

Zombies in this game are completely unrealistic and they're total asshats. I mean, they sit at spawn and kill unarmed players who are just trying to get loot. They just make the game too difficult and they should be completely removed to fix their game-breaking attitudes. Who agrees with me? (Disclaimer: Only respond if your opinion is exactly the same as mine because I don't want to hear other people's views.)

I do the same thing but try to pick a theme. For example, I stayed near Balota for about two days just focusing on sounds relating to creepy little girls. Just random sound clips I found where they'd sing creepy songs, yell "Moooommmmmyyyyyyy!", or other things. Had several people flat out abort by the time I had the singing bits playing. Or if you go to Green Mountain (though it's a lot slower there) you could focus on weird radio noises.

I agree fully. A video game can only replicate the real world so much. There are some senses that your computer monitor and headphones just can't replicate though, and that's why certain game mechanics (like the UI) exist. If you want it really realistic you might as well tell people to stop pushing buttons to move your character since, after all, you don't push buttons to move in real life.

So you're saying that your AS50 DOES have a thermal scope then? You do realize that it is a hacked weapon and most server admins will ban you if they see you with that weapon, right? As for daytime or nighttime, I prefer night. I just feel safer exploring in the dark. Which is odd, given that usually it's the other way around.

My character got killed due to a lucky/unlucky encounter with another survivor and right after I respawned and ran into the first house, I found another ghillie suit. The gods of DayZ just don't want me to be spotted it seems.

There's a massive difference between a video game and real life. I play games for fun, killing other players (not on the coast) is the only real way to have fun late in the game when zombies aren't an issue. Therefore, I kill other players. Simple as that.

If you have a gun you can kill me within 3 seconds. Why would I take the chance when I can take you out first? It's a simple weighing of the risks. Especially given how many others are KoS.
