so, hacking is here to stay apparently

I know some people are saying that hackers aren't all that bad, or that "they're in every game". While this is true, I died three times in two days due to hackers. All on different servers, and all within a couple of hours of gameplay (I only get to play in the evenings). In a game with "perma-death", it feels really game breaking. Maybe I just had a run of bad luck but being killed every few hours before you can even get reasonable gear is not only frustrating, but just flat out boring. I'm tired of crawling through zombies with no weapons just to grab a box of matches and then be teleported into the sky where I fall to my death, along with everyone else on the server.

What is the nicest thing you have done in DayZ?

My nicest thing....? Erm.... Well, I shot this one guy in a four man group one time. Afterwards I let his friend finish looting his body before I shot him too. Does that count?
  3. I'd have to agree with every point made. Good job, putting them all together in an easily understandable and well worded format too. I've killed many players as a "sniper" (though I don't think I'm quite good enough to earn that title, I'm still just a crazy-ass moron with a long ranged gun) but have yet to die from one because I know how snipers work and operate. The only people I've ever shot is those who stop in the middle of a field to talk to their teammates, or who go into extremely exposed areas (ex: the construction site in Stary) and sit there trying to shoot zombies. If you don't want to be sniped... Don't. Sit. In. The. Fucking. Open.

    Gunrunners Arms Dealing

With enough people who know what they're doing and a clear procedure on what happens during trades and what happens if you screw it up (ex: trying to shoot the person trading the item), I can see this becoming quite interesting.

    Spawn Killers

How does killing someone right after they spawn teach them to "stop being easy targets"? You can't exactly choose where to spawn.

    What gear do you rock?

Well I have the absolute worst luck at finding loot and have never found a ghillie, camo, NVG, Rangefinder, GPS, AS50, or any other high level items. Thus, I like to stick with the effective yet more common (especially ammo wise) combo of a DMR with a M1911 sidearm. DMR for distance targets, usually players, and the M1911 for its ability to take out a survivor in three or less body shots with minimal sound. Well, at least it could until it got severely penalized in the latest update, which I really hope gets undone. Nerfing the damage so heavily on so many weapons really has messed up the game quite a bit if you ask me.

    Spawn Killers

Look at my killcount, my killcount is amazing. Give it a lick (mmm!) it tastes just like raisens. ♪ Summary: It's a "My killcount is bigger than yours!" contest for them.

    [Insert Badass One Liner Here]

How is it that even when hunting deep inland I still haven't seen one single person with camo or ghille yet you saw at least two of them in Electro, of all places, doing the stupidest possible things? Curse my luck!

    Highest Kill Count?

I've topped out at 7 before a bug removed all equipment from my character and I had to start over (only to be later killed again by a hacker who killed everyone on the server). People who move in groups of 3-4 need to learn not to stop to discuss plans in the middle of a field. But then, I only hunt inland in areas like Stary or NW Airfield and won't shoot someone who doesn't have a weapon (unless they're trying to get into my backpack). Plus I prefer to work alone, so don't go into major firefights like most people on here probably do.

    Never trust a N00b

If you're stupid enough to run that close to the coast with decent equipment, then show off your guns while someone just stands there and steals stuff out of your pack, then you deserve to be shot. Us N00bs have to make a living too, after all.

    Loading...

This happened with the last major update too. Most people get stuck on the "Waiting for character to create" or "Loading" screens and can't join servers. Now it seems this bug is back, which is rather annoying. I only had an hour or two to play tonight and now I can't get on at all.

    Complete Inventory Wipe on Logoff

Yep, I lost a full inventory to this bug as well. I understand that the mod is an alpha version and that the people working on it can't spend 24 hours a day to work on it, but I really hope this bug gets fixed. Being killed by zombies, players, or other normal conditions I don't mind. But just randomly being punished by logging in at the wrong place/time/whatever is a bit disheartening in such a great game.
  13. I think it had something to do with hackers, yeah. Though I fail to see how this is going to do anything to stop them. It's just an annoyance for those of us who enjoyed doing a bit of normal Single Player during times we can't use multiplayer. Like right now when half the servers are down due to updates.

    My first murder! :D

Kudos to you for actually going and checking out a source of gunfire in the middle of a city. Even when I'm out in the woods I find myself going the exact opposite direction the instant I hear gunfire. Maybe the guy you killed will learn to pick a better spot next time and not give away his position. Would you like some cheese with that whine? All you've managed to do so far is dig yourself a hole and show everyone else just how arrogant you are by assuming yourself to be better to everyone else. Not to mention your sweeping generalizations are so laughable that my sides actually hurt now. Suppose I should at least thank you for the laugh though.

    Thanks to Bandit Wars

Nice find! This is why you should always get away from an area after you shoot, especially near populated areas. Or at least lay up and wait for anyone investigating the scene.

The friendly guy and the helicopter

Even as a fellow bandit that was not only cruel but a bit dumb to do as well. Opening fire like that killed the guy who was helping you (and had no reason to kill you, given that he just gave you most of what you had) and also probably drew the sniper to you in the first place. Never open fire in a field, us snipers will find you.

    Good loot from heli

Gah, I've played this game for several weeks now. Mostly traveling through forests and open fields, and yet not once have I spotted a downed heli. I feel so left out :(

  21. Honestly there's only two reasons why I became a bandit. 1) I don't know anyone else personally who plays this game and everyone I meet shoots me in the back, so teaming up doesn't work. 2) Just surviving by myself isn't too difficult once you get basic supplies. Having good equipment becomes pointless at this point and the game loses replay value. To remedy the second one, I decided to take on more interesting prey to increase the challenge and make the game more fun again. Course, I don't ever shoot people who are unarmed or people on the coast, just people going to military camps or towns that are deep inland. If I get killed then that simply means I got bested (unless it was a hacker) and wouldn't really mind having to collect all my survival stuff again. It's just a game and this is what makes it enjoyable, the thrill of thinking that you're always being watched. That every field you cross could have a sniper just waiting to blow a nice hole through your head and every town you crawl into could have a full team of assault rifle weilding bandits just waiting for you to come in the door. That's where the excitement comes from, if you ask me. The zombies, by themselves, become boring after awhile.

My Conversion From Bandit to Survivor

Not sure if killing one guy with a hatchet to get a shotgun really qualifies you for "bandit", but congrats on finding people to actually work with. Every time I've tried working with people they just shot me in the back.

    Explosion of hackers?

I've noticed this trend as well. Logged onto a server the other day and all of Cherno had some sort of horribly stretched fire animation spread across it. Logged out right after that and used a different server, only to find that my character data had been corrupted and now my weapons, backpack, and tools were all gone and every time I'd log back in, I'd appear in a different location. Not sure what the script kiddies get out of screwing up people's games and servers, but it's rather annoying.
  24. Professional N00b

Where do you draw the line?

Problem is people disconnect, shoot you while you're trying to give them the chance to survive, etc. With the game mechanics its simply too dangerous to even try communicating with most people on the server. Just take the shot and get the loot, any other way will end up with you getting shot at or the person disconnecting.
