Hell, I'm using cheap earbuds and I can tell where gun shots and moans are coming from. -
I quite like this idea. I live in an area with a lot of ranches and have even seen a guy riding a horse who did not look anything like a "cowboy". With the lack of refineries for gasoline, automobiles would be less common in an apocalypse.

Max effective range is not the same as max range. You can still hit targets much further away, you just have to know how to compensate for it. I have a friend who made a confirmed kill at 2200m with an AS50 on non-Dayz ARMA2. Why shouldn't you? It's possible to do, although difficult. -
You can find a lot of info about playing ARMA2 on the ARMA2 forums.

SD ammo for a non-SD gun does mess up your aim, but only slightly. You can shoot well over 200m with either ammo type as long as you understand the difference between your point of aim and point of impact. -

M4A3 CCO OR M16A4 ACOG

Both have such similar ballistic performance it's basically negligable. Keep in mind the bullet can still travel much further than the 300m/400m effective range that's listed. You just need to make up for the drop. The ACOG will give you 4x powered scope while the CCO/Aimpoint is better suited for close quarters fighting. -
Yeah, The Road is the closest thing I've seen. (Possible spoilers) When they find the bunker loaded with food, it's like that moment you first find an unattended camp.

I used this method to fix my artifact issues: http://dayzmod.com/f...24-artifacting/ Sometimes the issue would crop back up, so I would just c&p a backup copy of the original file over the modified one, then go in and do the scenery edit again. Seems to work for me. I haven't tried the flush command yet. I think rocket is addressing the issue with the next patch.

Pistols vs. rifles is all fine and dandy on paper, but as for 'superior fighting capabilities', that is totally dependent on the user. Give a noob an M249, and you have a noob with an M249, not a superior fighting machine. Give an experienced veteran a pistol, and you have a real threat. Yes, bullets can knock you out. As you said, this is MilSim, not an MMO. A random .22LR can kill IRL. It's part of the randomness of life. -

I just want the zombies to stop trying to juke me like some NFL football player. Even the 28 Days Later infected (supposedly what DayZ infected are based on) didn't have these moves. -
I like the idea of having a cooperative efford into restoring infrastructure or something. Kind of like a group scrabbling together to restore civilization against the zombies and bandits?
