Runed Wings

Okay. So. I need advice. It seems no matter what I do, no matter how far I get in this game, I get shot in the face before I can get anything good at all. I have trekked across the entire map, passing zombies, avoiding players, without even finding a single gun. If I do, it's a shitty pistol that I can't use without letting every zombie in the vicinity know my location. The best thing I've found so far is a damn crossbow (I've found a lee enfield, but no ammo, so it doesn't count). I can't shoot a damn crossbow in the game. The controls (Mainly aiming) are just too stiff for a one shot reload weapon. Then, I make it to devil's castle, loot everything, and then when I decide to go to the top someone blasts me in the face with a shotgun. My girlfriend (Who was watching) and I almost pissed ourselves. I'm not really trying to rant, but how can I avoid getting shot at every turn? I can't find any military bases, no matter how hard I look. I just always seem to get lost, or get killed. I hate that I can't trust anyone, but I'm asking for advice. How do I find these military bases? I either starve or thirst to death before I can get anywhere. Also, none of my friends are PC gamers, and thus, I can't form a group with them.

Well, then I'm one of the unluckiest people to play dayz. I never find anything in barns.

Not always, but I'm fairly impatient, so sometimes I will. I've never been shot that way, though. It seems people always scare the piss outta me when they do it because they're always hiding around corners. xD
