I definitely like the idea of implementing radios. As we have seen in the OPs post there are a ton of interesting directions you could take this and it would open up a lot of very interesting game play possibilities.

+1 OP this is how it should be. Right now zombies are an annoyance more then a threat and I think zombie behavior needs to change dramatically in order to remedy this (and it will, especially in standalone). Zombies need to have a dull awareness of their surroundings and be more prone to investigating noises and sights rather then just sprinting off to attack the rustling sound in the grass or the silhouette of a body in the distance. I think the quantity of zombies needs to rise overall and their behavior should facilitate the possibility of large groups forming and wandering around together. They also need to investigate gunshots from much further away. If a player can hear it, a zombie should be able to hear it and lumber in its direction to check it out (not somehow acquire the shooters location instantaneously and sprint off to eat them like they do now). Lastly, zombies should be much more difficult to lose which will change when pathing gets fixed and they don't slow to a walk inside buildings. I'm betting all of this and more will be remedied in stand alone. That is when we will find zombies become the real danger they were intended to be and the feel of the game will change entirely for the better.

Your body should disappear after death

I see what you did there! Sorry OP but this is a very bad idea. -
Hackers, and the state of the standalone game?

Why not make Humanity clothing optional?

Why not make Humanity clothing optional?
Cysquatch replied to Dartendal's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Simply put, the whole humanity affecting appearance thing is dumb. As Rocket has stated before a similar mechanic could be implemented where players who have recently looted player bodies will have blood on their hands for X amount of time identifying them as someone who may possibly be a bandit. That may be an acceptable compromise but the idea of making people easily identifiable as friend or foe is completely contradictory to the nature of the game in my eyes. -
Should the new standalone have bosses and dungeons?

Seeing how DayZ is now free from the bonds of Arma 2 the sky is the limit as far as its potential to explore new game play experiences. I would really like to see a more visceral and dynamic combat experience and I think one of the best ways to accomplish that is by building a robust melee system. Melee weapons should have a dedicated slot so that one can be equipped on the fly and they should be incredibly easy to come by. They would be available in dozens of different varieties ranging from 2x4's and baseball bats to knives and large fire axes. To go along with this I think that there should be much less emphasis placed on crazy military gear and much more emphasis on commonly found weapons and equipment consistent with the setting of the game. The map is based on the Czech Republic which doesn't exactly have a limitless budget for military spending. All manner of Russian weapons like the AK and its variants should be very common while AS50s and the like should simply be non existent. I'm not saying that all high end military rifles need to be removed (though some certainly have no place like thermal scoped weapons) but most should be very rare indeed. -
Absolutely not...

Indeed, it would be a nice touch if player bodies killed by zombies eventually became zombies themselves and roamed around with the rest of them. However, this talk of playing as a zombie after being killed is just silly and ruins the authenticity of the game. Zombies don't think, players think, therefore players should not be able to play as zombies. Otherwise you'll have zombie players sprinting to the beaches to kill freshly spawned human players and other such nonsense.

Please, DONT add a bandit-indicator in this patch

+1 OP Everything you said is spot on. Making other players easily identifiable as possible friend or likely foe totally ruins the tension and excitement of encountering another player. -

I'm not saying the game should be more like L4D at all (that game never captured my interest). I'm also not saying the combat system needs to change per say I'm merely suggesting something that could be added to it in order to improve upon it. Melee weapons, especially improvised ones would be very common in this setting and, in my mind, makes way more sense with regards to survival then .50 cal sniper rifles do. You are exactly right! Here is a post I made in a different thread on this topic: I think zombie behavior needs to change dramatically (and it will, especially in standalone). Zombies need to have a dull awareness of their surroundings and be more prone to investigating noises and sights rather then just sprinting off to attack the rustling sound in the grass or the silhouette of a body in the distance. I think the quantity of zombies needs to rise overall and their behavior should facilitate the possibility of large groupings forming and wandering around together. They also need to investigate gunshots from much further away. If a player can hear it, a zombie should be able to hear it and lumber in its in direction to check it out (not somehow acquire the shooters location instantaneously and sprint off to eat them like they do now). Lastly, zombies should be much more difficult to lose which will change when pathing gets fixed and they don't slow to a walk inside buildings. I think that when zombies become a bigger threat more focus will be placed on avoiding them and thus people will think twice before needlessly shooting at others and drawing attention to themselves. -
Death needs penalties. Suggestions welcome

This is a game on the internet, you know? The problem here is lack of things to do once your character is maxed out on gear and relative safety from environmental hazards like zombies. The problem is definitely not death penalties being too lax. I think zombie behavior needs to change dramatically (and it will, especially in standalone). Lastly, zombies should be much more difficult to lose which will change when pathing gets fixed and they don't slow to a walk inside buildings. Overall, I think that when zombies become a bigger threat more focus will be placed on avoiding them and thus people will think twice before needlessly shooting at others and drawing attention to themselves. -
You know, in a real zombie apocalypse
Cysquatch replied to fluffyg's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
But they don't have anything better to do because the mod doesn't yet facilitate a deep "end game", if you will. Thus you have bored maxed out players with little else to do but kill for fun. The only real solution here is to actually give them something better to do and I'm willing to bet that when this mod becomes a fully featured game you will see this kind of behavior diminish. -

Are zombies too easy now? (because it's so simple to hide from them)
Cysquatch replied to zemalf's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Zombies are just borked at the moment. Once their animations and pathing are fixed they will become a legitimate threat again. -
I would love to see a CB Radio item implemented that would give you access to server wide voice communication with others who also have the item. I know this has been suggested before and I think I even saw Rocket talking about it. It would be the perfect solution.
