  1. I'm sure the Photoshop Police will be all over this one
  2. Not sure if really bad troll...
  3. I suppose after hearing all of the stories of betrayal and banditry that go on, it would be nice to share a couple nicer events that happened to me on my recent trek in DayZ. On one, I was sneaking my way around my usual grab-and-go spots (East of Elektro) and I made my way very cautiously to the Power Station just north of Elektro. I snuck around the zombies without issue (surprisingly) and made sure to take my time around the fire station, to scout if anyone was around the tower. It was very quiet, no gunshots, just Zeds. So I crawl my way into the fire station and I see an M16 in the corner with ammo, I thought that was pretty awesome and I'd have no trouble meeting up with my buddy who was just north of me at the time. As I turned around to make sure it was clear to loot, I see a survivor walk into the door and two shots fire, and I am just able to scramble to the comms button to shout "Friendly! Friendly!" as I only had my hatchet out at the time (primed for Zombie killing) and to my surprise he actually stopped shooting and asked if I was alright. I was bleeding pretty bad, so I bandaged up and I had a broken leg. He apologized for shooting, saying that he had been killed several times before. He then offered to patch me up, he gave me 3 morphene and some food. He also trusted me enough to let me take the M16 an be on my way. So I took off as he was saying that he was pretty sure somebody else was coming too. I played it out long enough to meet up with my friend, by this time my character had about 1000 blood and was passing out, so I ended up dying. My buddy took most of the usable stuff and I respawned half a world away. Which brings me to my second encounter, After I marathon ran through Cherno, ducking in a couple barns and only aggro'ing one zombie, I found a Lee Enfield and a ton of ammo, food and drink. So I started to make the long walk to where my buddy was looting, and as I was closing in on his location, I hear a survivor calling out "Friendly, don't shoot, I need help, anything please!" So I stop, Lee Enfield in hand, as I see an unarmed survivor walking up to me. I cautiously told him "I'll help you out, just don't try anything cause I've got a friend nearby" He replies "I won't, I promise, I don't have anything to try it with! Please, anything you can spare even a can of pop" So I dropped a can of coke for him and he thanked me, he asked if we were near Elekrto, I told him "Yeah we're just east of Elektro, we're really close to the fire station. Be careful cause there's a sniper in the tower", I found out first hand after I had a couple bullets whiz past me as I took a wide berth around the power station. He thanked me and went on his way, and I went off to meet my friend. See folks, positive things can happen in this game.

Still think this is a good game?

Despite all of the sh*t that I have to deal with every time I play this game, It STILL sucks me in. I still get very immersed in the survival aspect of the game and it's always thrilling when you escape with your life against a horde of zombies or bandits. I'm still enjoying it
  5. I've been bandit'd in the power station many times, which is why I just smash-and-grab, I don't stay in that location longer than I need to.

    The Myth of Green Mountain

I think that is actually cased by barbed wire fencing, they populated a whole lot more since the patch,

    The Myth of Green Mountain

I don't understand what the hell just happened here. I think you lost the point of your story at Green Mountain

    Where are the zombie hordes?

Try firing any non-silenced weapon near a town and not run away. They will find you, and they will kill you.
  9. So I've been playing this for about a month now and I'm even getting to a point where I'm pretty familiar with the map and can navigate to places I've been to after I die. So I figured it would be interesting to share 5 things I've learned so far playing DayZ, feel free to share your top 5 as well. 1. SNIPER NESTS DON'T STAY EMPTY FOR LONG I found this one out the hard way... Before I knew to reference a map, I stumbled across the fire station/power station just north of Elektro. It was overrun with Zeds and I found a hatchet in the shed nearby, so I figured why not check out the main building. I heard random gunshots firing off in the distance, so I ducked in the fire station for cover, it was quiet. I made my way up the tower where I found a DMR and lots of ammo, I thought "hey this is actually a pretty sweet gun!" and I was checking out the scope, when I heard somebody running around downstairs. That's when I knew it was too good to last... I heard the ting-ting-ting of footsteps up the metal stairs and I prepared for the inevitable. A survivor with a nice shiny DMR popped his head up and fired 3 rounds in me. Needless to say, I don't hang around places where rifles spawn anymore! 2. INFECTED ARE DEADLY ACCURATE, ONCE This has happened to me more times than I can count. I'll be at 12k bllood and I'm sneaking my way through a small farm, when oops... I aggro a zed. No biggie, I'll run for the hills. So as I stand up from my prone position, I turn to run and I get a small nick from a zed and proceed to run away and lose him in the buses. Only to notice moments later that I'm spraying more blood than a Tarantino film. Strangely enough, after the first nick, I have found it very, very difficult to bleed again. Thank goodness for extra strength bandaids! 3. LEG BONES ARE COMPRISED PRIMARILY OF PREZELS I'm being tounge-in-cheek with this one, but seriously... I've broken my legs jumping down from a 5 foot surface, I've broken my legs when I have over 9k health from an infected beat down, I've broken my legs crawling around things. Maybe Rocket should implement wheelchairs into the game as a vehicle, cause clearly something happened to everyone's kneecaps. 4. FIRING A GUN AT A ZOMBIE IS A BAD, BAD IDEA Pre-patch, I did not have much luck finding a gun, so I stuck to my hatchet. Post patch, I've found shotguns littered along the coast like candy... I wonder if that's a coincidence? 5. I REALLY DISLIKE DODGING INFECTED One of the most significant things I've learned as I've been playing DayZ. is that I really f**king hate sneaking around a city for 20 minutes only to have a random infected aggro and send me high-tailing it into the woods. I'm not whining about the game, I still enjoy it as a whole, and it speaks volumes that a game gets me so involved that I am genuinely invested in what I'm doing in the game. I just really, really hate those zombies. Cheers folks
  10. I fired a slug from my double barrel shotgun (which did not kill the infected btw) and it attracted zombies from other servers,

    Your Shoot On Sight Threshold?

If there is no attempt at communication and they are hell-bent on following you. That's just too much of a creepy melvin to keep around.
  12. Try and wrap a plain old bandage and see how fast you can gain feeling in your near-severed arm too.
  13. One shot brought 75+ zombies down on my head post-patch
  14. One time I found a bunch of tents, just out in the open. They were filled with a ton of awesome rare gear so I thought that was pretty awesome. I tried going to that area cause I figured they spawn there all the time, but I was puzzled that every other server I went to it was just empty and no more tents spawned. /troll

Why are cars so rare in Chernarus?

It could be something to do with the fact that you wash up in a pseudo-west asian peninsula that resembles a mix of apocalyptic Germany and Chernobyl. I don't know if you've been to Chernobyl, but they don't have many working cars there.
  16. I don't know who the hell you are, but I promise you... I will find you, and I will kill you.
  17. What is the point of DayZ, if not to kill all humans?
  18. Kin0

    Zombie agro anyone?

I think there is a randomizer on Zed hordes. Cause I can remember there was a time I was coasting past a barn with about 6 Zeds wandering and hopping, I came within arm's length of the nearest one and nothing. I was crouching and running, I couldn't agro a single Zed to draw them into the barn. So I start making my way to the forest when I see a zombie booking it full gallop from around 300m (It was behind a house IN the town) at full agro. So, maybe they're one super-agro zed in every group?

    White Flag? Ceasefire? (Stop KoS)

The only issue with this, is that Bandits will use it as a decoy tactic and mow people down. The only true way to do it would be to have some way of differentiating who is a bandit (murdered a player) and who is a friendly (only killed in self-defence or never murdered, etc)

    Kill or Be Killed

I will find you, and I will kill you.

    Seriously pissed

Welcome to the new DayZ. Zombies will dog you endlessly, until you put them down or break their insane vision/hearing thresholds.
  22. I just had a random thought and I wanted to bring it up for conversation. What are your feelings on clans/bandits stashing their fallen comrades items in their "base" or camp? A normal situation: A clan/bandit group has a camp or base plotted out in the wilderness with someone watching over it. Clan member A goes out to scout for loot, and is decked out with military gear and a ghillie, backed by Clan member B. Clan member A gets mauled/killed by a survivor and by some grace, Clan member B is still alive and manages to kill the attacker/survive the attack. Clan member A is forced to spawn, while Clan member B takes all of his clanmates gear and hightails it back to camp. Clan member A makes it back to said camp, full health and gears up again then sets out again without hesitation. Is this setting up a "fair" gaming mechanic for the people who are going it alone or even in smaller groups who have not been able to gear up as well? It's imbalancing the gameplay in my opinion. The clans and groups that have all of the high powered equips will always have that gear. Case in point, there is a server I frequent and the owner of the server consistently zips around in a Huey. There are no other helis on the server, and he's part of a clan that has a lockdown on a major city. I'm not griping, I haven't been killed or had my gameplay detrimentally changed because of this, I'm just curious what everyone thinks about those points.

    Zombies way too hard now

Yesterday my buddy fired his AKM to HS a walker and apparently interrupted a convention, because it rained zombie-hell on us for a straight 10 minutes. 70 Zeds, 8 clips of ammo and a couple pairs of underwear later, it was over.
