Bring back the debug menu! or at least another way to find out my humanity!
tommygun9504 replied to elf cakes's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Personally, DayZ Taviana's debug monitor looks like a great idea to me, it shows murders, zombie kills and bandit kills, humanity and the combat system. It's probably the best move for the rest of the game. -
Haha! I'd forgotten all about the standalone's clothing system when I commented! Oops!

Realism aside, the ArmA 2 player models cannot use backpacks, only units added with Operation Arrowhead can use them, since that's when the backpack system was added. However, I'm sure Rocket could change it IF he really wants to. Here's hoping some more variety of skins are seen in the standalone.

The most ingenious DayZ Campsites I've ever seen. (Chernarus)
tommygun9504 posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Before I begin, there's a few stuff in here that's not legit. Two words. Private Hive. It's been a hectic few weeks in the apocalypse... I've been around the country, trying to hoard the sought after Beanz, fending off the subhuman monsters roaming our once great land, and the healthier men, some driven insane by the apocalypse, who stand on a building... just... killing. I like to avoid these men, so I hit closer to home, I loot campsites. But nothing comes close to these few camps that amazed me at how well they were hidden. I once found a small camp, about 2-3 people, I'd say, at Vybor. I was hiking in from the south, after checking out Pustoshka, when I saw the little dam on my left. I stopped to refil, and a little silver glint caught my eye. I looked under the bridge, and lo and behold, I saw 4 tents, one full of weapons, military stuff, minus a hunting rifle or two, one with first aid gear, another with spare tools, the last just loaded with food and drinks, a few spare sets of clothes and the like. The glint I'd spotted was their ride, a little M1030 motobike, I remember owning one after my brother stole it on a raid against the Marines in the civil war. I stood in bewilderment for a bit, took the bike, some food and two AKM mags. Couple days later, I was beachcombing, I thought I could make some traps out of spare driftwood, and I saw some smoke coming from the back of Cap Gulovo. This time there wasn't as many tents, just one, but this was full of good stuff, the best. I saw some quality Russian rifles, AK-107's, the very latest, a KSVK, I hadn't laid eyes on one of those before, very powerful rifle, and a special little weapon I now keep close, a silenced Makarov PM. Another great one I saw was the ship off the coast, you know the carrier? I decided to check it one day, I was dropped off there by my friend Petya, in a PBX he'd always owned, never had time to use though, being the farmer he was. I got into the launching area in the stern and found my way to the flight deck. Finding nothing exciting, I proceeded below decks, and I found a massive compartment, loaded with these vehicles, AAVP7A1's, they were, with tents and a campfire in the middle, an interesting choice for a camp. I did not take anything from this camp, but the AAVP's were calling, I did a few donuts and drove over the tents. God, that vehicle is amazing. But yesterday, taking a joyride with Maruk in the Huey, I did see an interesting sight... A small island, no bigger than perhaps two cattle barns? It was located a few kilometres off the coast, and it was LOADED with tents. I was loaded with stuff, I had a nice CDF military uniform, I always liked their camo. However, Maruk was peckish, and he took some hi-tech stuff, some L85's, most with a holosight, some with an underslung grenade launcher, but he took one with a strange sight. It was reddish, and the helicopter, ourselves, anything that appeared hot, glowed white. He called it "thermals" or something. What've you guys found? -

Noting that a few seconds into the video, we see the pilot wearing Soldier Clothing, which to my knowledge, isn't legit... I'd like to hear where you got it, and if it is indeed legit, other people showing me where they can get them. -
What you need is a server package. At the moment, there's two main contenders, both are current. ayan4m1's Bliss, located at https://github.com/ayan4m1/blisshive and Pwnoz0r's hive, located at https://github.com/Pwnoz0r Please note that Bliss supports various maps with the same package, while Pwnoz0r has different packages for different maps, hence why I linked you to his GitHub profile rather than his actual package. Bliss is the one being used by DayZPlanet (otherwise known as ViLayer) Pwnoz0r's database is set up to mimic the official DayZ hive. It's really your choice. Setup is fairly straightforward, however there are people out there willing to help. Good work installing Navicat, one can access his DayZ server database with that and tweak vehicle spawns and stuff. I prefer MySQL Workbench but that's just me.

[Video] UFO SPOTTED ON PANTHERA OMFG WTF OMG OMG, UFO'S ADDED TO DAYZ?!
tommygun9504 replied to ORiGiN Machinima's topic in DayZ Mod Gallery
Yep, hackers have figured out the AttachTo script -_- Expect to see Pchela-1T drones with emplaced machine guns and quad AA guns attached, or if someone has way too much spare time, the PC Gamer BattleBus. -
Being an ArmA 2 player, long before DayZ, this is what comes to mind when I hear the word BattleBus. www.youtube.com/watch?v=kZc0mwTbgwI

Looks like something for the standalone. I'm a fan of this idea. I think there should be a cheat reporting system that sends a message to the server owners, and a server reporting button (where applicable, like in official DayZ servers) that sends a message to the dev team.

Stand alone melee mechanics
tommygun9504 replied to scoffield77@gmail.com's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I'm sure Rocket will streamline the melee mechanics for the DayZ Game, but I have my doubts about your proposed mechanisms... I myself would rather flee than fight with those controls -
2 things i would like to see in the standalone.
tommygun9504 replied to M.I.A TIDNAB's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
It would be fantastic to see those ideas =D I'd like to see DayZ support all manner of survival techniques, whether people fortify buildings, move underground, become nomadic, hide in the forest etc, would make for a very expansive survival game with many paths to take! After all... this is our story. -
I'll be happy to see weapon camouflage taken care of in the standalone using the "crafting" system. It'll be interesting to see what people do with their camo, I expect some sweet looking black and red M16s with skulls and serpents =D

Server info such as map, timezone, vehicles, difficulty etc. are things servergoers look for. If you don't provide that, don't expect much traffic to your server

I don't think yellowjacket wasps are found in Europe, and therefore not in Chernarus. Aren't the zombies, bandits, snipers and jason Voorhees wannabes enough for you sadist players? :D

Visual friendly/neutral/hostile player system for standalone
tommygun9504 replied to kranky@dir.bg's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Rather than a system like this, I tend to draw back on one of Rocket's previous statements about there being something to promote friendly (not shooting randoms for the sake of shooting randoms) interactions in-game. I agree with Rocket's idea there. At the moment, there isn't much. The only friendly interactions I've had with people have been the RRF, random Heroes I find around the joint, on private hives with side-chat and when I'm completely unarmed. It would be nice to wave to the man on the hotel rather than evade his gunfire.
