  1. Guys, these nerfed guns do not make the game more challenging. Yes, your rounds do less damage to enemies, but you take less damage as well, so it evens out. What it does do is kill the realism. This is killing any 'simulation' aspect of the game. One shot should kill or seriously wound any human. With a zombie, and only a zombie, shots to the chest should do little damage.

    It's coming ............

It seems that although WarZ did start development before DayZ took off...after DayZ's success, WarZ changed the direction it was going (which was quite a bit different from DayZ) too make it more DayZ like. It's pretty obvious that they're trying to capitalize on DayZ's success. Things about WarZ that concern me are the "safe-zones", being able to buy a game mode without permadeath, and XP with skill trees...no thanks.

Gun nerf made the game more challenging

Not having a weapon at start is one of the best things about dayZ. It makes finally finding that weapon so sweet. but the weapons shouldn't be nerfed, that will kill the realism. a single gunshot to center mass will kill most people, and should in the game.

    DayZ Stories

I had spent the first few hours being so careful. Crawling, crouching, hiding in the darkness. I was hungry, and thirsty. I had nothing to my name, no water, no food, no weapons. Then...in the light of day, I screwed up. One zombie saw me, and attacked. I ran, and one became two...which became four, then eight. Suddenly, I am running down the road with a dozen undead in tow. I see a house. No good, locked tight. I run further, and see a barn...yes! Open doors! I hit the first floor...nothing. Second floor, nothing! Then, up a ladder and there it was... my salvation. my love. ...my ax. And now, undead c-suckers...In the words of Ash..."Come get some!"

    Worst Community Ever

More than 700,000 people would disagree with you.

So what is this game basicly?

I could have written this myself...perfect.

@ Beginners..no gun start is not impossible

Best advice ever. Also, be human. Real people in this situation wouldn't immediately shoot each other in the face. That falls under 'going for a leet kill' category.

    o.O feeling alone

Agreed. The more people that run around shooting everyone on site, the worse the game will be.

    My first day experience

It's a good read, but I'm not crazy about the idea of randomly shooting people you see.

To all New Players... I Can Help

I might want to take advantage of this as well. I'm also on the East Coast US. I've never used Skype, but I'm sure I can figure it out.

Last night I killed a man.

Definitely! I'm, pretty new, and not too good, though...

Last night I killed a man.

This sums up exactly how I feel about DayZ, and how I intend to play. It'd good to know there's others out there.

    First impression: This sucks.

I think I know what he's talking about. My screen (by that I mean the landscape graphics) was blurry until I turned post processing off.

Hi Guys, I'm a new player. I just had a comment on the video guide posted above. In it, he suggests as a way to begin the game, running at full speed and just zipping by all the zombies, using indoor corners to slow them down and grabbing all the loot you can while running. It seems like that may not be in the spirit of the game as far as realism, immersion and role-playing. I know that personally, if I was trying to survive a zombie apocaplypse, I'd be crawling in the dirt hiding. And that's how I try to play. It seems like the creator of that video is exploiting the AI pathfinding indoors to grab loot while zipping around. Are there better videos that are more in the spirit of the game? Thanks all. **Oh, also I had the opposite reaction as the OP. I played DayZ for 20 minutes and was hooked...!
