The Ruger MKII Is Coming, But Whats It Like?
rickenbacker replied to leefriendfield's topic in General Discussion
Not sure about this one... The version Dean tweeted looks like a cross between the suppressed one and the regular, bull barrel variety (which I've shot a LOT). The suppressed barrel is a little thicker than the rest of the pistol, and the regular bull barrel is a little thinner. I think this is supposed to be an internally suppressed Mk II, which would then be pretty quiet. -
How would adding heat to your body lower its temperature? I'm all for coffee, would give you some fluid and also heat you up a little bit.
-
While I don't see why we shouldn't be able to do this, it's actually pretty retarded and no-one does it in real life.

THere was a post about this town last week, it's right where the live servers have a bunch of random houses at a crossroads. Should be great once it's done!

When Base Building Is Introduced, What Will You Build?
rickenbacker replied to leefriendfield's topic in General Discussion
I think we all know that the first thing anyone builds is a giant penis. -
If You Could Add Any Gun To DayZ, What Would You Add And Why?
rickenbacker replied to leefriendfield's topic in General Discussion
This would mean that the shooter would fly back 10-20 feet each time he fired a shot. Not very likely. -

rickenbacker replied to leefriendfield's topic in General Discussion
That thing IS basically a mortar. Why would you put another tube in a tube and launch it? -
I hadn't seen one in ages before today, when I finally figured out where to get one 100% of the time. I went to sniper hill in Elektro, and within five minutes, I found a dead sniper who had one on him! You might not be as lucky, but if you can't find a pre-killed one to loot, just sit around at the back of the hill. Within a few minutes, you'll hear a sniper firing in front of you. Just sneak up on him and whack him with an axe a few times. You now have your very own LRS!

Some of this is already in (i.e. the Kcal system) and some of it will be added in the future (fatigue, weight). Good ideas, but the devs probably already have some version of this working.

I just take them with me and dump them in the woods :).

Please make more equipment colorable by Spray Can
rickenbacker replied to SonicSonedit's topic in Suggestions
They will. The reason it's not going faster is that they have to create textures for each and every object in every color, which takes time, and is probably a low priority right now. -
We are inducting a large number of new people to the team, effectively doubling the whole project. Explain.

Yes. -
A bug ruined one of the best dayz stories ever :/ please fix rocket
rickenbacker replied to cmcdo207's topic in General Discussion
What's wrong with your rocket? -
The ballistics might not be final, but they're pretty accurate. The bullet drop is the same for all guns (i.e. the same as if you would just drop the bullet from eye height), but you notice it less with higher muzzle velocities.

Not sure how new springs would make a Mosin "more powerful"? Other than that, finding better parts for your guns is a good idea, and indeed already in place for the M4, so I assume it will be added for most guns. And as far as "sniper rifles" go, finding a high quality hunting rifle and adding a powerful scope to it, would give you one if you really want it. I don't see any reason whatsoever to add extremely specialized military gear like antimateriel rifles to the game at all.

When does your "switch" flip during an encounter?
rickenbacker replied to Wiggin Miller's topic in General Discussion
Depends. If he pulls out a weapon, or tries to get behind me, usually. Which is often too late, because of latency, so I end up killing him but getting hurt myself. Still, it's better than taking the cowards way out and KoSing. -
B95, Mosin question | Sawn of Blaser K95
rickenbacker replied to irishroy's topic in General Discussion
Accuracy doesn't change as much as you might think, just by sawing off a barrel. The problem is that it's hard to do it exactly straight, so the bullet exits unevenly, which causes it to tumble - at least earlier than it would have otherwise. If you can get a perfect cut, you'll maintain pretty much the same inherent accuracy, but the gun is now of course much harder to handle, and thus harder to shoot accurately. On the other hand, it'd fit in your pack! -
I would very much like to see more long coats and similar clothing. The problem is technical, though, the legs clip through the coats! If they can work that out, I'm all for it.
-
Well, to be realistic, there probably wouldn't be anyone left to take care of a helicopter. Ultralight aircraft make more sense, as they're much easier to service and require less specialised parts.
-
No, it hasn't. There are loads and loads of 1911's everywhere, including here in Sweden. But most of them aren't Colts, since they're expensive and no better than any other brands. So a Chinese or European brand would make more sense.

Pointless post, as servers can already have shutdown warnings. It's up to the server admins, not BI.
-
But since we can only adjust our sights' elevation in the game, that's not a good feature to have.

Concretely: what differs the pro from the noob?
rickenbacker replied to MarchmelloMan's topic in New Player Discussion
There's not much difference, but I can always tell if a village has been looted by a noob or by an experienced player. I've learned exactly which houses spawn loot now, and in which spots, so by looking at which doors are opened, I know how experienced the looter was. Take the beige house with the porch on the side, for example. The only two loot spawns that work right now, are both on the porch. So if only the porch door is opened, it was a player who knew this. If all the doors are open, it was a noob. -
Any military installation (including the airfields) will have piles of M4 magazines of all sizes.

Can you not climb up stairs with a broken leg?
rickenbacker replied to thequantum's topic in New Player Discussion
That's apparently a bug that's getting fixed soon, according to the stream last night.
