The first implementation will probably have very few animals, to the point where you might never see one, and no damage model or AI for the animals.
-
No. Your shots will always hit slightly left of the crosshairs, no matter the condition of the sight.
-
Pristine and worn should be the same, performance-wise. If anything, guns should be VERY SLIGHTLY more likely to jam if damaged. Any gun that doesn't shoot where it's pointed, is useless and thus by definition "ruined" by the game's standards, so there should be no gradual accuracy drop. We already have to contend with the bullshit "cone of fire" mechanic, we don't need more make believe stuff.
-
Yes, and they were pretty much never used, because they're pointless. If you need more precision, you get a rifle.
-
Laser: Sure, why not. Won't do much, as night-time is currently totally unpopulated, and the dot is harder to see during the day, but sure. Reload animation: I hope we get these for all guns, but it's not a priority. Red9: It's a Mauser C96 chambered in 9x19 Parabellum. It's an antique, and while it's very cool (I'd love to have one), there's no plausible reason for it to be in the game, nor would it add any utility that we don't already have or can get with a more modern gun. Buttstock: What's the point? Just get a rifle and saw off the barrel. That said, we should be able to choose between sawing off the barrel, buttstock or both on shotguns and rifles.

7.62x51 is for a M14 7.62x54R is for a Mosin–Nagant

Does the 700 come in 7,62? I hope we get one in .308 and/or .300 Win Mag, though. -
better spawns,adding airport, general suggestions
rickenbacker replied to n0stic's topic in Suggestions
Another airport? This "country" is the size of a small town in real life, and it already has THREE airports. I don't think we need another. -

I've heard troubling rumours...(no helis)

The Mi-17 is no flying tank, it's just an Mi-8 with better engines and carrying capacity. It CAN be equipped with machine guns, but usually isn't. -
I just made a fundamental* mistake and paid* the price.
rickenbacker replied to Miquinei's topic in General Discussion
I don't think you did anything wrong, until they asked you to put your weapon down. When someone does that, you should just start shooting, or run if you think you can get away with it. -
Why such a difference between title development comparing to Dayz?
rickenbacker replied to Rick1633's topic in General Discussion
You're asking the wrong question. The question is why wouldn't there be a huge difference? They're two completely different companies, working on completely different games with different scopes and ambition. Do you also ponder long and hard why paint dries and why the sun comes up in the morning? -
Right now, you can knock them down with a hit to the head, then keep beating on them until they get up. WIth the new "can't aim" melee system we're getting on friday, you'd better just run.

Why co-operate if you're gonna get shot anyways?
rickenbacker replied to Goddam Firestations's topic in General Discussion
Actually, that also results in getting shot in the back a lot, unless you know the player in question from real life :). -
Authenticity is important, realism is boring. But I'm happy as long as we get rid of the bullshit "cone of fire" mechanic.
-
Well, that's now real revolvers work. All 6 shells stay in the cylinder until you eject them to reload. You could probably turn it around to see which chambers had been fired, but why would you point a loaded revolver at your own head?
-
Rubber = condom.

Well, the M4 accuracy is a bit off, for sure. I'm more of a pistol guy, but when I got to shoot an AR-15, I had no problems nailing a smallish (15-20cm) target at 100m with every shot.

[HUGE][Cracking DayZ open] What should you expect, and PROOF.

Oo, I want a big, yellow truck! :) -
Rocket has mentioned that he'd like to do snow, but that it "would have to be done right". I like the idea of an abandoned prison. I don't think you'd find very much ammunition there, though.

Hey...I see you....put your hands up.....
rickenbacker replied to River Lizard's topic in General Discussion
Exactly this. If both people lower/put away their guns, they can then have a civilized conversation. If someone tells me to "drop my gun" he might as well just shoot me and save time. I won't shoot other players unless I have no other choice, but I won't let them render me helpless either! -

That's probably because you have the experimental version installed? -

Lots more zombies in the current experimental, fun! But they seem to spawn in groups of 2-4 and immediately head towards the nearest player. I've explored villages that were completely empty, only to have three zeds corner me and beat me to death. This is mainly because, with the new melee combat system, there's no way to actually hit anything. You ready your ax, swing it, and miss. It doesn't seem to matter where you aim, it's completely random chance whether you hit a zombie or not, but you generally miss. Meanwhile the zeds hit you even when facing away from you, when on the floor below you or on the other side of a wall. Or all of the above. I really like the idea of more, and more dangerous, zombies. But this implementation is just strange, random and annoying. You can't sneak past them, because they don't even exist to begin with. And once they DO spawn, they seem to know where you are and come running through walls, bushes, trees and what have you. And then you can't fight back, because your melee weapons seem to all have a maximum reach of about 5cm. Not a change for the better, I'm afraid. -
The Ruger MKII Is Coming, But Whats It Like?
rickenbacker replied to leefriendfield's topic in General Discussion
While the GUN is accurate to 70m, I don't think many people could hit a rabbit-sized target consistently at that range. When I shot it, I could generally stay within a 10-15cm circle at 25m. Good enough for a headshot :). -
Probably Germany, yeah. But I'm pretty sure they're not soldiers, but airsoft players. That's a really odd combination of weapons and gear for real soldiers, in a real forest :).

The Ruger MKII Is Coming, But Whats It Like?
rickenbacker replied to leefriendfield's topic in General Discussion
Ahh, Taco86 found a match, I believe! So the version we're getting is the internally suppressed Mk II. Cool! Should be very useful for quietly dispatching zombies, and unsuspecting snipers above Elektro. Very nice guns, by the way, as far as .22 plinkers go. Not a competition grade gun (at least not here in Europe, in the US, where they don't really do "race guns" it might be), but nice to shoot and very accurate at 25-50m as long as the shooter does his part.
