10 minute is not enough to loot dead bodies you put down
rickenbacker replied to crazyandlazy's topic in General Discussion
Because even with the current 40-player limit and (admittedly too short) 10-minute corpse cleanup, the game can't handle more than a handful of zombies spread all across the map. And those zombies can't have any AI, they simply run straight at you, ignoring terrain, walls and everything else. Imagine how quickly a server would bog down if they corpses weren't removed... -
Mostly good advice, but I have a slight issue with these two. Why empty the magazines? Ammo only stacks to 30, and the most common magazines take 30 rounds. Might as well leave it in there, so it's ready for reload. An alternate method is simply to run straight at the zombie, swinging your axe at the right moment. Keep going, and the lunge will miss you. If it's a fireaxe, one swing is enough, a splitting axe takes two.

To clarify: The revolver is chambered in .357 Magnum (will also fire .38 Special, but that's not in the game). The pistols we have currently are .45 ACP, and - incorrectly - need a magazine to function. We should be able to load a single round into the chamber of the pistol, but maybe that will be added in the future.

Flash hiders are sometimes referred to as flash suppressors, that might be what you're thinking of. A suppressor probably reduces the flash somewhat, but not as efficiently as a flash suppressor. Then we have muzzle brakes, that's a whole new chapter :). They reduce the recoil and/or muzzle climb by diverting the gasses upwards/forwards.

So why do people refuse being held up?
rickenbacker replied to Mays (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
There's currently no reason to surrender. Gearing up again takes five minutes, while being force-fed rotten fruit/having your backpack looted probably takes longer. And there's no disadvantage to dying, nor any reward for staying alive, so why not just take your chances? -
Ear plugs for firing guns or else you get a loud ringing in your ears
rickenbacker replied to joeymp's topic in Suggestions
Yes, if you're firing .22LR. If you're firing anything bigger, you'll notice effects pretty quickly, and your hearing will start taking some damage long-term. It's much worse standing next to the firer, though. -
Has anyone else encountered the 'amazing' bandits that camp Balota airstrip?
rickenbacker replied to ItzNasha's topic in New Player Discussion
There are no bandits at Balota. Only psychotic 11 year olds who have server hopped for guns and ammo. -
Unfortunately there are no environmental sounds like that. I wish we could hear doors opening, but who knows, maybe in a few years?
-
You're not the first (more like the 100.000th) to suggest this. The zombies are placeholder, there will eventually be more of them, and they'll be harder to kill. At the moment they are WAY too easy to drop with any axe, and not that hard to get with your bare hands either. If you get hit, just tear up your shirt and bandage yourself, and (almost) no harm done.
-
The only fix needed is to keep the food in your hands after you finish, so you can immediately eat again. It's stupid to imagine eating a handful of beans, putting the open can back in the backpack, then getting it out again for each bite!

Why would there be a shitload of ancient British vehicles in modern-day Czchechoslovakia?
-
Bandits aren't boring. Random psychopats who kill for no reason, however, are boring. And since the game is mainly populated by 11-year olds at the moment, that's 80% of the population.
-
I only have one realism complaint: How come I'm wearing another t-shirt under my t-shirt? And how come I can't tear my second t-shirt up for bandages, even if I'm bleeding to death?

I guess 14% of the respondents in this poll has a very rude awakening coming...

Current Spawns,where are they?
rickenbacker replied to korpisoturi (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Solnichiy seems to be the most common spawn, but I've spawned outside Elektro a few times. -
No one cares.

"Friendlies" are just a bunch of lamers
rickenbacker replied to gamerer's topic in General Discussion
I don't need to, because no-one gives a shit what you think. -
The Magnum just plain looks better. A big revolver is always more intimidating than a puny plastic gun :). And the in-game revolver is modeled on a Colt Python, one of the few Colts that I actually think look good (I'm more of an S&W man, myself).

I've been up there, and I really like the train station, complete with actual trains! Can't wait to see what they fill the street grid with up there.

Do you remember the first person you met in SA?
rickenbacker replied to Mcleane's topic in General Discussion
Met a guy in Elektro, neither of us had anything but axes. Later ran into the same guy in a village inland, we chatted a bit about where to find backpacks, and went our separate ways. -
It's because everyone else who plays at night is a gamma cheater.

This needs to happen! Awesome idea.

Being Able To Carry 2 Rifle Sized Guns Would Be Nice
rickenbacker replied to Deathlove's topic in General Discussion
I regularly carry 3-4 handguns at competitions (because I don't want to leave them in the car :)), no problem. I would NOT want to carry even two rifles around all day. There is a slight size and weight difference... -

Two? You can do that now. -
The day in the life of an utter expert
rickenbacker replied to mooky32's topic in General Discussion
Cute. You'll notice, though, that the number of enemies goes from five to seven halfway through.
