Awesome! Can't wait to see little paramotors buzzing around the Chernarus skies :).

Ammunition should be extremely rare
rickenbacker replied to hannibaldaplaya's topic in General Discussion
It's not entirely unknown to find 3-4 magazines of 5.56 in a single barracks building. And some bases have four of them :). -
Sawn-off Shotgun, not what you'd think.
rickenbacker replied to Nainakai's topic in General Discussion
Dispersion should be the same as with the non-sawn-off. The difference between barrel lengths in shotguns is barely noticeable. -
Rolling Changelog: Stable Branch: 0.32.114557
rickenbacker replied to rocket's topic in News & Announcements
Damn, I was afraid they'd fall for the old "sawn off shotguns get a wider spread" myth. Oh well, there goes realistic weapons. -
Yes, and other players need to make noise as well. As it is now, I'm not sure if they make any audible noise at all, at least I've never heard a sound from another player, except the reloading noise. Would also be neat if they doors would make noise that's audible to others, but I think that might be impossible in the ARMA engine.

Clip is not the same as magazine. A magazine is a box the holds several rounds and feeds them into the breech. It can be either fixed or removable. A clip is a metal strip that holds several rounds together, to make them easier to load into a fixed magazine. So you're wrong. Sorry about that.

Those are on your harddrive. You need to put the on an image hosting service, like Imgur or something so we can see them. -
Putting backpacks in hand - Looting in "safety"
rickenbacker replied to stolenbanjos's topic in General Discussion
You already can carry a backpack. All you have to do is leave your own behind somewhere safe, before you go banditing. That way you can pick up your victims' backpack and take it with you. Problem solved! -
Try it, unload the guns and hit R, see if anything happens. Then try reloading manually and time both reloads. Voila! You have your answer! In real life they're designed to reload a revolver very quickly, just use the reloader to put all six rounds in, twist it (or push, on some models) and remove it - your revolver is now loaded, just push the cylinder in. No, don't SLAP it in, that's a good way to ruin your gun. Speedloaders for a double barrel shotgun are just stupid, though. But I guess the game mechanics make them a necessary workaround, or something.
-
When did they remove this? I know it's not there for the M4 anymore, but with the high-power scope for the Mosin I was able to do it as late as last week... Only with that scope, though.
-
I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that the second guy uses subsonic ammo, while the first uses regular standard issue ammo.
-
There is no such thing as a "silencer", that's just a word stupid people use to describe a suppressor. There are suppressors, that suppress the sound of the shot, flash hiders (or flash suppressors) that hide a bit of the muzzle flash and muzzle brakes (not breaks, dammit!) that negate some of the recoil and/or muzzle climb. That's it.
-
All survivors are of course high speed, low drag Spetznaz soldiers. Or 11 year olds who have played way, way too much CoD and think that weapons work that way.
-
So, about the Mosin's new compensator...
rickenbacker replied to -Gews-'s topic in General Discussion
OK, that's just wrong. Especially considering that the devs seem to focus on fairly accurate weapons handing so far. A muzzle brake shouldn't affect accuracy at all, only recoil and muzzle climb. Which of course would make it very nearly pointless on a bolt action rifle, but then that's why they generally don't have them in the real world. -
Since there's nothing to lose, you might as well run around everywhere until you find some decent gear. The zombies (that used to force you to crawl, or die, in the mod) are harmless and even if another player shoots you, all you lose is a few minutes of your time.
-
Medicines taken when you're not sick currently give you a bogus "sick" status. This is mentioned in the patch notes for the coming patch as fixed.

Nights simply too dark. Like walking on the dark side of the moon.
rickenbacker replied to Cydone's topic in General Discussion
Just don't play at night. 99% of players at night are gamma cheaters anyway. -
Locks and Door mechanics!!!! PEW PEW PEW!!!
rickenbacker replied to MastrBlaster's topic in Suggestions
And how exactly had you planned on opening a box like that yourself without getting blown up? -
There IS something wrong with it, because the devs say there is. So it'll get patched out somehow, and we'll all have to make do with what we find on our selected server. But until loot starts respawning, even I can't see anything morally wrong with server hopping for loot once or twice. You got careless and got there too late? Take your medicine!
-
How seriously do you take your gameplay?
rickenbacker replied to KnightFall1856's topic in General Discussion
It depends. But since DayZ is very good at creating player investment, once I get geared up a bit, I get pretty seriuos about survival. Then I get bored, talk to the wrong people, and get shot :). -
Rivers, Canals, Bridges: Survival Resource, Transport Medium, Natural Chokepoints
rickenbacker replied to ZedsDeadBaby's topic in Suggestions
I'd love to see rivers, but they'd look really odd, as the ARMA engine doesn't seem to support running water. -
I think the current system, where you can carry one weapon slung on your back and one in your hands (if you absolutely have to), is just fine. From a realism standpoint, carrying TWO long guns is retarded anyway.
-
We know. And that's an AK-74, not an AK-47.

Rolling Changelog: Stable Branch: 0.32.114557
rickenbacker replied to rocket's topic in News & Announcements
Do your research. The players are immune to the zombie plague. -
How full your stomach is has nothing to do with how hungry you feel. You feel hungry when your energy (an abstract measure, in calories, probably) is low. Eating refills energy, but when the stomach is completely full, you have still only refilled maybe 5% of your energy. This is actually a pretty realistic simulation of how our body works: you can't eat unlimited amounts of food, but you can store lots and lots of energy in fat cells. Some love handles would let you survive longer than a totally fit person in a zombie apocalypse!
