Admins Shutting Servers Down When They Get Killed
rickenbacker replied to Solopopo's topic in General Discussion
Well, if you server hop, you're quite likely to log in in the same room as the other server hopper on there... -
I've broken my leg once in the SA, by walking across an open field! Must've been one hell of a blade of grass I ran into...
-
Make sure you have the "open door" icon up, and you won't accidentally reload. That said, I think the reload options should just be removed from the context menu altogether.
-
It's in, yes. But it should ALSO work with sticks+duct tape, or sticks+rope, which it currently doesn't.
-
Well, since we are getting a lever action Winchester, as far as I know, a mare´s leg is a no brainer. We already have the necessary hacksaws :).
-
Now I have this picture in my head, of handcuffing my buddy, putting him in a wheelchair and letting go at the top of sniper hill in Elektro :).

Players need to make a sound when combat logging
rickenbacker replied to infiltrator's topic in Suggestions
This, I agree with. Just how many times to I have to load my damn Mosin anyway? :) -
Weeelll, from what I remember of my army days, if we could carry less shit, we did. So I don't think most soldiers would pick up a second rifle unless they were ordered to. But in any case, we're not talking about soldiers here, we're talking about a game that wants to force its players to make hard choices. Which is why I think the current system fits it very well. I just wish that we'd have to find a sling (or make one with rope, or whatever else might work) before we could even put a rifle on our back in the first place! Until then, you have to carry it in your hands at all times. Once you put a sling on it, you can shoulder it, and carry another rifle in your hands if you really, really want to.

People really need to read the official lore before spewing crap about "how the zombies should be".
-
There WILL be private hives, but you have to keep in mind that the current setup is for testing, and the game isn't due for release until 2015.
-
My usual laundry list: 1 fire axe 1 long gun 1 handgun (unless I have an M4 for a long gun, in which case a pistol is pointless) Ammo (2-3 reloads for whatever guns I have. If you ever need more you're probably dead anyway) Some bandages A can opener A water bottle (for emergency hydration) That's all you really need, everything else is gravy!
-
The nature of public hives effectively destroy the challenge of surviving.
rickenbacker replied to froggan's topic in General Discussion
They didn't. The current system is only for testing, there will be private hives after release (in 2015). -
Just met a server hopper with a Mosin in a barracks. I had the B95, and I fired two shots before he even had time to aim. The rapid two-shot capability makes the B95 better at close range. That said, I did take his Mosin and left my B95 on his corpse :).

Players need to make a sound when combat logging
rickenbacker replied to infiltrator's topic in Suggestions
The only part you'd be taking away is combat logging. No reason to make it easier for people who chose the coward's way out, quite the opposite. -
Was that while carrying a backpack with 200 cans of beans in it?
-
...for each item it can be used on, yes. It's a complicated and resource intensive project. But I hope the paintables keep trickling in :)
-
Making choices is at the heart of this game, and the choice of your main weapon is important, so I vote to keep the "one rifle slot" system. Besides, you can already carry two rifles. How many more do you want?
-
Is server hopping for lots of loot possible?
rickenbacker replied to MarchmelloMan's topic in General Discussion
It's very possible, but bring a good book if you do it more than once, as you'll have to wait for login on a new server, unless you played for 30 minutes on the previous one. Server hopping is frowned upon, but I'm not judging anyone for doing it until loot respawn is in. -
why isn't the zombie fix rocket's priority?
rickenbacker replied to bioned's topic in General Discussion
What makes you think zombie fixes aren't a priority? -
In the future they'll stop moaning and so on. Right now, they do nothing.
-
Why are you against many military items in game?
rickenbacker replied to CrazyCorky's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, I keep imagining if the zombie apocalypse would really happen where I live in Stockholm... Say 1 million zombies, moving slowly through the streets. It'd be easy to kill them, it'd only be a matter of time, and your trigger finger would get tired :). Shooting a gun is very unlike clicking a mouse, believe me. I do both :). -
7 of us wiped out by a single teleporter.
rickenbacker replied to Lildoo's topic in General Discussion
I have to say, the title of this thread sounds like the words away mission ever :). -
So the guy in the Ukraine getting shot straight through their steel riot shields this week should only have gotten some scratches, instead of dying like they did? Those selfish bastards! Riot shields are not designed to handle any kind of firearms, if they were they'd be too heavy to carry around for any length of time.

Knives are very underpowered at the moment, seems like only the big, heavy weapons do any damage at all. It'll get rebalanced eventually. I like the idea of two knife "stances", though. Could just be switched with space, like every other weapon.
-
I think it'd be very appropriate for most DayZ players, actually :). And we need more types of backpacks, for sure!
