How to make .22 long-range sniping impossible/unviable?
rickenbacker replied to Sister Ray's topic in Suggestions
I imagine you could probably hit stuff at 800m with a .22. Provided the "stuff" you're trying to hit is a moderately sized house... -
The devs are well aware, and it's not a problem - the game will be optimized once it's feature complete. At the current pace, I'm guessing this will be sometime around 2019, or whenever Half-Life 3 comes out.

I just think the whole "add plastic bits to magically decrease dispersion" mechanic is counterintuitive, unrealistic bullshit.

Interesting. I agree that it should be possible to put in a single shell at a time, if you have them accessible in your inventory (i e NOT in a canister, preferably not even in your backpack), but don't have a magazine or clip.

Hello Everyone-Unfair Deaths Anyone?
rickenbacker replied to flamegunner3457's topic in New Player Discussion
Most of these are (known) bugs. But one lesson to take away is this: Don't ever, EVER, take out or put away an inventory item anywhere NEAR a building, or you will probably die. I've died by taking my rifle out when I walked slowly across a roof - I instantly dashed forwards 5 meters, fell off the roof and died. -
I'm all for sewers, but I think a subway would be a little out of place. The entire map is basically the size of an average city center, the "cities" in the game are tiny, and none of them would need a subway. Hell, Chernarus doesn't even need cars, it's so small.

DayZ SA's current state in a nutshell.
rickenbacker replied to nurdseprem's topic in General Discussion
I find it amazing that the OP had a screenshot with "Berezino" RIGHT THERE on the screen, yet managed to spell it wrong in the caption... -
I'm all for parachutes being found in the world, and replacing backpacks when worn. Should be repackable as well. Jumping from helicopters is fine, except for the pilots. A helo pilot wouldn't have time to get out if the machine went down, and even if he did, he'd most likely get shredded by the blades. Besides, if anything goes wrong with a helicopter (short of the blades falling off), it's far safer to autorotate anyway. You can't really do that in ARMA, but maybe DayZ will implement it.

Barrel length doesn't really affect accuracy to any noticeable degree. It becomes harder to aim, but the spread and accuracy remain about the same at all effective ranges even if you saw of your shotgun.
-
Good idea, but completely pointless until we have door sounds and zombies can't go through walls.
-
My point is that what we see in the game (i.e. a perfectly lined up sight, that doesn't move during the trigger pull) doesn't reflect what happens (the weapon "sways invisibly, spreading the bullets all over the place). It's counterintuitive and stupid. Sway, shake, misaligned sights... There are many realistic ways to show the human factor in games.
-
The thing that really bothers me is that our character in game IS holding the rifle perfectly still when firing, and still gets a spread like a leaky garden hose. It's counterintuitive and just looks wrong. There are better ways to simulate the human factor than to make precision rifles act like a 300 year old musket.
-
That still doesn't mean that your bullets should end up in a HUGE cone, if your sights are lined up properly and don't move while firing.

Those coats need to be added. Well, if the devs ever manage to solve the problem of clothes covering more than one body part, that is. And the FACE on the woman on the left absolutely needs to be in the character generator, like yesterday!

What would be the point of that, and why would ANYONE want to pay for it? If you want to play the mod, go play the mod.
