BIS are giving away copies of Arma X
Josh (DayZ) replied to mattlightfoot's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Getting points is as easy as doing nothing. Go play something. make some tea' date=' watch tv. It literally CANNOT be simpler. Sometimes i wonder how people have the patience to even wait for their computer to start. [/quote'] A.) I've never used Steam Gifts and I do not know anything about it. There fore, it's not being lazy its a simple "I don't know how" about it. B.) Its easy, I hit the power button and go take a piss. My PC starts up quick. -

Which T-Shirt design would you buy?
Josh (DayZ) replied to mattlightfoot's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
I'd buy the "I Survived DayZ Alpha". I like the design. -
Before you officially decide on purchasing ARMA II simply for DayZ you first need to know and understand that DayZ (at its current state) is still in early Alpha. This means that you will more then likely uncover a lot of bugs and your character may randomly loose its position or items due to a reset. You'll be in for a lot of changes within the development of the mod while Rocket tests and experiments with things. In my opinion, if you are willing to dedicate yourself to understanding what an Alpha is and how to better the modification, then you should definitely purchase it if your computer can run it. If you do not want to deal with bugs or wait potentially a month for a gamebreaking bug to be fixed, then don't. As far as Rocket's policy goes, he's taking a gamers approach to this. He himself stated that this is nothing but an experiment to see what can and can't be done, his phylosophy seems to be "Lol, don't be a whiny little bitch and treat people with respect, then you'll get respect". It's kind of refreshing to see a Lead Developer be so blunt about things. He doesn't beat around the bush to protect feelings.. Either your in or your out.. If you don't want to help, then GTFO. Its an Alpha for a reason.. ___

No problem if it isn't. I'll be here to help out in other ways I hope. I can send a short little about me to him if he wants it just for reference. I'm only a PM/Email away.

The whole 21 or older ruins it for me. I'm an active moderator for Eutechnyx (UK Gaming Company).. but I'm not 21.

Doctor, I was more so pointing out the bold part.. He's one of those people who think gamers are stupid and just believe everything they are told... -

Oh god, not one of you guys again. -
How can we simulate something that isn't proven to be existent? How can we simulate something that no one knows is real? This is a game, it turned into one when DayZ was released. Sure, it might be awesome and feel real.. but in the end its still a GAME... Once the government or some one with valid proof of zombies come out, and lists all of the keys of the zombies, we can call it a Simulator, once its updated.

Bandit to Survivor Transformation Items lost
Josh (DayZ) replied to sleepo_o@hotmail.de's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Not to detour the original intent of this topic, but Legacy, do you know if you being a bandit now will effect your skin? Is there anyway to keep the Bandit Skin until you die, after the new patch? I'd like to keep my Bandit skin as I actually had to work to find those suckers.. LOL. -
Arlt, I believe the primary reason as to why it was made public in Alpha stage is to help test the load stress and servers. I do not think you read anything in this thread by the way that you are speaking here. Why not helping some out by posting in the designated forum? The "Bug Report" forum: http://dayzmod.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?fid=6 There is a thread asking you to please read it before you post, that thread will have all of the information you may need to make a bug report. You have raised the awareness of that happening, how ever, you have not assisted in reproducing the bug with sufficient information. Please look at the thread in the "Bug Report" area and fill out as much as you can, if you think you have more information then please do so. Alpha Testing can be used for multiple things. It can be done to test the stability in a high play count area, where as if you did an internal Alpha using a Q&A Department you couldn't get near as many results as you could with a public Alpha. Majority of Q&A Departments are In-House so they are on stable machines using stable internet connections. When you do a public testing you get so many variations it isn't even funny.. So this is helping with stability of high play count as well as server load. Now if only you'd do your part and submit a proper bug report and wait patiently for it to be tested, tested again, looked into, fixed, tested some more, then released for a public test... Then go from there.

Will familiarity kill this mod?
Josh (DayZ) replied to Disgraced's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
To me, its about comfort. I know of one town that I go to very frequently and I prefer it over any other place, including military spec gear spawns. I know where things spawn inside this town because I feel comfortable there and I can look around. Just me though, I'd prefer to know rumors, but not confirmation of spawn points. -

Bandit/Survivor Morphing to be removed
Josh (DayZ) replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
I'm on the fence about the change but I'm glad we can choose new skins now. I'm just not looking forward to having to find the camo. Was a bandit strictly for the camoflauge, lol. Well, time to hunt when the patch comes out! -
I make it a requirement for people to approach me to have their weapons down. If they lift their weapon once I fire because I don't want to get killed. I think it should be of slight importance to at least allow them to lower it like you do a two handed weapon, so that people who have a Makarov can approach someone. Just my thoughts.. By slight importance I mean it should be up there, but not infront of the major issues.

It's okay to report (and its encouraged) the bugs that you come across, but you need to do it in a respectful manner. Go into the game understanding you may trip over a few dozen bugs one day but not the next. Be ready to loose your stuff due to an error. It happens in Alpha and BETA stages. When you come to report a problem, do it respectfully and everything will be fine. Be as detailed as you can with your report. Give the developers your system specifications, version you are running, where it happened, what you did, what you had, etc. Anything and everything that you can so that they might be able to reproduce the error(s).

I agree about the variety, to be honest. I think it should be only the ones with a bandana or a balaclava.

Welcome, my comrade! To the house of Bodies, located in Hell Town! You may pick a body of your choosing! Enjoy!

I'd only play if it was a $60 purchase or something. I don't want to have to purchase stuff like that.

Being a bandit, isn't all about being a murderous survivalist. To me, being a bandit is to have a higher presence. I'm not afraid to kill, but I'm not afraid to help. If I come across you, just because you identified yourself as friendly, don't mean I'll be. I go by a saying I have, that makes little sense most of the time but 'Trust no one, and no one will be trusted'. To me, this is saying that I shouldn't trust no one, so that I won't have to trust them. Basically, in english if I don't trust them, I don't have to constantly look behind me to make sure he isn't aiming at my head. Getting back to the bandit part. It's all fun and dandy when traveling the land of DayZ, but sometimes it requires you to show your warface. This is a story about how me and my friend think a bandit should be. The other day, me and my friend was going around the towns with a mission to get to a specific place. When we got to the area (We will not disclose the location.) we began to infiltrate the building to check for any supplies. I was placed on point as we entered the building, my 'partner' behind me, watching my six. We went up a flight of stairs and found a few weapons on the ground but no ammo. We continued on to the next flight. Upon looking up the stairs, I tilted over to the right to see someone gleeming down on me with a pistol. He quickly opened fire, having the drop on us. Instinctively, I quickly returned fire from the bottom of the stairs with my Winchester. Boom, Bam, BOOM! Gunfire is lighting up the building, you hear shouting coming from the man upstairs, blood begins to pour downstairs. The man, is down. Quickly, we move up to clear the area. I turn right, check the area and quickly announce that it is clear. At this point, we sat there for five minutes working on a game plan. While we were doing that, we were interrupted by a group of about 4 survivalists, including a bandit. We quickly took a defensive position, I dropped my sights down onto the stairs as he was looking around quietly, we sat still as can be for a few minutes as we heard the footsteps getting louder, and louder. Listening carefully we picked their chatter up confirming our suspicion that they were in the building. They identified to each other that they found the same weapons we did. Sitting as still as a statue, we waited until they turned the corner. Without hesitation in an attempt to protect our selves, I opened fire on the individual at the bottom of the stairs. Freaked out, he looks up, dives behind the stairs as you hear a crack. The man, has broken a leg. Bleeding out on the ground he bandages up as his friend walks to the corner of the room, directly in my sights. Noticing the familiar camoflauge I opened fire, hitting him in the chest/back area. Scared, they flee to a nearby building where they hunker down. Chatting about how much blood he had lost. Deciding against our own rule of trusting no body, we talked and agreed to helping the poor soul. We quickly identified him and told him that if he agrees to our terms, we will provide to him, a blood pack. Negotiations ensued. Our terms were simple. He and only he can enter the building, how ever, his weapon would have to remain down. If he once pulls his weapon up, we will not hesitate to shoot. Unfortunately at the time, he only had a Makarov and we allowed him to enter with it. How ever, a survivalist happened across us and tried to take advantage of this. He snuck into the building before the other guy and tried to take his place. Not knowing it, we attempted to help him. He couldn't take the transfusion due to his blood being too much. This raised our suspicion. I moved out of a line so that we could open fire on the individual as I had a feeling something isn't right. At that moment, he proclaimed that he wasn't in the building, infact, he hasn't even moved. Without hesitation, we shot and killed the man infront of us. "We warned you!" we shouted. We pondered about taking the offer out of the table. We decided that if he wishes to receive his blood pack, he has to come without any weapons! At all! He agreed and began his way over there. We waited, my ironsights staring down the stairs. Finger on the trigger, heart pumping. I waited. He identified that he is entering and he made his way up. We allowed him to stay long enough as we gave him the transfusion. At this point, we assisted his exit as zombies entered the building. We covered him until he got to the building. My 'partner' proceeded to identify that there was someone else at the door. The person at the door proceeded to enter, at which point we shot without hesitation. He didn't have permission to enter. This was our location and anyone who dares to enter without permission would die. This is my story, bandits. Just because you are a murderer, don't mean you can't help out. Always keep an eye open and be careful. Trust no one, and no one will be trusted. Have fun out there. Bandit Josh
