So I'm a little ways into my second life, and I end up at the power station north of Elektro. Long story short, I end up trapped on the roof trying to pick off all the zombies on the ground with a Lee and a revolver (I got 50 kills, btw). So I completely run out of ammo but take out all the zombies, and I head down to search for loot. Another zombie wanders up so I hide in the grass. Suddenly I hear "I'm not here to hurt you, but if you aim your gun at me I will shoot you." Bricks were shat. Turned out this dude was cool, he said he heard all the frenzied gunshots from up on the hill with his buddies and got curious. When he saw me hiding, he figured I was a newb and wasn't a threat. Then when we went into the fire station, he saw a car drive by, and hoping they didn't see us, we hid. For the next half hour he escorted me around, telling me the do's and don'ts and where to find the best loot. I even used a bloodpack on him when a zombie knocked him into razor wire. Shortly before I logged off, he told me that his group of friends were all bandits and that they had been hanging out in the hills around town sniping people. I realized that they had had multiple opportunities to shoot me before I even knew they were there. I asked him why he had been nice. He just said that when he saw how helpless I was, he took a liking to me. Long story short, bandits are not inherently bad people, they just play the game different. My first real experience in Day Z was a positive one thanks to this guy. EDIT: I'd just like to add that after all this, I logged back in... then immediately got shot and died. Didn't even have a chance to assess my surroundings. BAM. Dead.
