I was playing the other day and everyone could see the mtvr and for some reason I couldn't see it. A few weeks before that I couldn't see someone in some type of commando clothing. And then today, an osprey was flying over us and everyone could see and hear it but me. I'm guessing something is messed up with my arma 2 folder. I have it on steam I tried checking the file integrity and it reacquired 2 files but that doesnt seem to have helped any. Any ideas?

DayZ stops working, corrupts current windows session.
malin replied to TechnoLlama's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
This is EXACTLY the same problem I've been having. I made a post about it here a bit back. http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/126978-garbled-sound-distorted-video-then-crash/#entry1221735 I like you, tested many things before I posted and tried some of the tips that certain people posted. One of the things that people would bring up was that it was my video card drivers, it was overheating, or something was wrong with my card. Well it wasn't the video card drivers since I tried multiple revisions and I have two of the exact same video card and this would do it on both I also would watch them during the game and the temp would never get passed 65c. Well, come to find out I think it has something to do with running multiple monitors. I have a second monitor that I have dayzdb map on while I'm in game on the other. I'm running a amd black edition with a 6870 graphics card. When this was first brought to my attention I unplugged one of the monitors and was able to play for 8 hours with no problem. I recently started playing again and was using both monitors yesterday for 6 hours straight no problem. I logged back on later and within 20 minutes had it happen again. TLDR: I really think the problem is some sort of flaw with Dayz and multiple monitor setups on AMD cards. If you really want to test it out try playing with 2 for a while vs 1 monitor. -
Actually, I remember reading something about it being due to the way the zombie AI worked in arma2 can't recall where I read that at though. But what your saying is what I was thinking too all the stuff being spawned in + zombies vehicles etc.

I doubt that has anything to do with it but you never know. I've seen people with i5s i7s and amd chips having problems. The fact that so many people are having problems and say that it runs fine on other games, to me shows this is a problem with the game. I'm running a black edition processor overclocked to 4ghz and I get 20 fps in cherno done all the work arounds etc. Even loaded up arma 2 and OA and they ran beautifully was even able to turn the graphics way up with a solid 50 fps.
-
I wouldn't rethink a purchase because of just this game. It seems it runs horrible for a lot of people with decent rigs but I also wouldn't buy any hardware specifically for it either due to all the problems. Arma 2 OA runs great for me maxed out with great fps. Yet in Dayz sluggish as hell.

I'm running an AMD processor and I get horribly fps just like this guy does, switching to high graphics or low makes no difference.

*Which version of the game did you purchase? STEAM or RETAIL or MIXED: -Running steam version. *Are you running an Arma 2 OA beta patch? If so what version?: -102591 *Which method are you using to launch the game? I.E Sixupdater/steam/batch file: -Steam *What is the Error/Problem you're having? Please provide screenshots if possible: -After not playing for a while, I install the new patch, 1.7.6.1 manually through steam like I always have, and after playing for around 20-30 minutes, the game audio gets garbled and I start to get almost like artifacts on screen and after around 30 seconds it crashes to desktop. Where the colors on my desktop are all wonky and I'm not able to run my browser without it crashing and are forced to restart my computer to get it working again. I've had this happen in the past I quit for the same reason before and when I returned new patches were out and this problem did not happen at all. I have troubledshooted for this, it is not my video card or cpu overheating, as I have put the VC fan on 100% and monitored the temp in my other screen. It would never get above 65c. I did the same thing with my CPU never got above 45c I even removed the side of the case and felt the temps with my hand on the cpu and video card and it was nothing out of the ordinary. I remember when this happened months ago, one of the things I tried at the time was switching different drivers I don't recall if it made a difference or not, but this time I was running older drivers while it was doing this problem so I updated to the latest and it still does this. Here's a video of what happens. Funny, but when I was recording it, it wasn't as colorful as fraps portrayed it afterwards. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A1VFPFiK_Tc&feature=youtu.be *Your PC specs: -AMD black edition 955 overclocked from 3.2 to 3.9ghz -m4a88td-v evo Asus mobo -8 ghz of gskill ddr3 1600mhz ram -XFX amd 6870 using 13.1 drivers -Your Operating System: -Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit OEM -Have you looked at these threads? -Yes.

I didn't think to try removing the overclock as it's been stable for years and I've never had a problem with it even in more stressfull games. I did try unplugging one of the monitors like you said after I did that I was able to play the game for 6 hours with the error occuring.(usually it would happen after 30 minutes.) Doesn't really matter as now I'm getting horrible fps performance once again.
-
Other games work fine and it only started doing this on Dayz after the patch. It's not the video cards as I have two that are the exact same and it does the same thing with either one. It hasn't done it in a while though, usually it will happen within the hour but the other day I was able to play for 6 hours after unpluggin one of my monitors as someone suggested.
-
I doubt it has anything to do with the overclock, I've never had a problem with it and it can play every other game without any crashes or anything. I tried both of my 6870s and they both had the same problem so I doubt it's the card. I did try running just one monitor, and while I was running two could never get past an hour without a crash.. I've been playing for about 6-7 hours without a crash at all. Seems like that might be the problem. Wouldn't be surprising I've had nothing but problems with AMD drivers crossfire etc.

What makes you think im a bandit?

I don't have an attitude. Usually when people respond in that manner it's usually trolls. That's exactly the reason why I try to give as much info and make a video showing what I see happening to avoid responses that are things I have already tried but yeah if you weren't trolling then my apologies. I updated my bios a while back but I just checked it now and it's waaaaaaay outdated. I'll have to try that next, been trying some other things. I'm not using a hdtv using a 19 inch LG along with a 23 inch asus as a side monitor. I'm usually pretty good with cleaning my case out do it every few months. After you said something about it I went ahead and cleaned it out just in case with some can air real good and it still does the error. I scanned the reg and fixed some errors. Maybe that will help some. I'll have to play around with it some more seeing how it sometimes takses at least an hour to occur. This has never happened in any other games. In fact, I can't recall the last time one of my games crashed like this. I thought the same thing too about the card maybe dying, thing is I used to run crossfire but I only run of the cards now but I have the exact same two and have swapped them out and tried them and they both do the same error. Tried switching the drivers also. Maybe fixing those reg probs and updating the bios will help i'll get on that and thanks for the suggestions.

If you bothered to read my post you would of seen I did that already.

Having FPS issues... Norrowed it down to the GPU or the CPU. Advise?
malin replied to bjorn72's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
I can't say getting a new video card will help it. My 6870 runs terrible at 1440x900. Usually around 19-20 fps and in cherno I get 10. I think it's due to the game being horribly optimized, why they're redoing the engine for Dayz. I know arma is very cpu intensive so a new cpu I'm sure would def help but I wouldn't say it would solve your problems, a new ivy bridge processor prob would help, can't really speak since I don't own one but mind you I'm on a 6870 with an amd black edition 3.2 quad overclocked to 3.9 and I get horrible fps even though I can run every other game fine, although this could be due to some installtion problems. I installed it manually and didn't try any troubleshooting so far. I noticed you were on a Q6600 I used to run that with my 6870 but it was bottlenecking it like crazy. The hardware you got doesn't seem up to par for this game to run smoothly yet, it could be a mixture of that and optimization. -
Maybe it's your inner Nelly Furtado trying to come out.

I take it you have everything turned off that you can? Could always try going to a smaller resolution if you got a spare 19inch or so laying around. The 8400 isn't much tbh. I forsee you having a lot of trouble running the game on that. The problem I had with my 6870 was that I didn't have enough vram for 1080p and for the game to run smooth. Could have something to do with your problem. I seriously doubt my old 8800 could run this game at a decent framerate. -
really need help with bad cd key thing
malin replied to brockahlys@gmail.com's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
I had the same problem. When I tried installing the beta patch on my laptop, it gave me the no cdkey message. Tried a few tips off the web and nothing helped. Finally, I thought I already had tried launching both Arma 2 and CO first before I tried installing the patch but tried it again then tried the beta patch and it worked for me. -

Devblog update: Where is the Standalone?
malin replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Oh man.. these screens look so good. Can't wait to try this out, although just my mentality will not let me get amped seeing how I've done that in the past only to be super disappointed with the droves of bad games that have come and gone. -
Do you ever feel bad, or regret a kill?
malin replied to tals975's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Sometimes I do.. but majority of the time I don't because I just pretend they're the English. -
Been using this name since the game launched because it has a blue facepaint option on the player model.
