It's very easy to estimate range with regular mil-dots if you have 4th grade division skills. 1800/number of mildots for standing target, 900/mildots for crouching. Higher magnification scopes make it much easier to line up targets, especially at 600m+. DayZ is built off a mil sim and retains most of the simulation aspects. Have you ever played Arma 2? Chernarus is a warzone between NATO forces and Russian rebels. The AS50 guarantees kills no matter what, as well as being a primarily anti material rifle. It is better and easier to use than most other guns, it's supposed to be. People get too hung up on the idea of "balance". The world isn't balanced. This isn't CoD where every gun is more or less the same. Some guns are just objectively better. As soon as the duping and scripting goes away people won't have a problem with it because there won't be very many people with these weapons.

It's supposed to be overpowered, this is a mil sim, not a game, it's not supposed to be balanced.

How would no crosshairs/3rd person stop someone from insta-killing a server?

Uh... No they aren't. Some guns are just objectively better (AS50, FAL, etc.). It's a military SIMULATOR, focused on realism.

You'd be better off building your own rig, would get a lot more bang for your buck. Neither of those have very good video cards.

No zeroing, chevrons are off even at 400m, no adjustable zoom makes it even harder to line up long range shots, less rounds/mag, ammo is super rare, etc. It's like a DMR but worse in every possible way. Only reason I could see for anyone wanting it is the novelty of having one of the rarest weapons in the game.

Pretty sure we're going to have a lot more firepower and a lot more than 3-4 people on overwatch.

I'm definitely down to meetup, but I think we may need quite a bit of cover (apparently MLP makes some people uncontrollably angry, lol) - only issue there for me is I lost my gear to a cheater last night. If someone could spare some sort of sniper rifle I'm down for overwatch duty.

No, but they go to car conventions and buy tickets to be part of the audience. Just because you're being bullied in school for being weird doesn't mean you have to do the same for anyone else with weird hobbies, tastes, etc. But I guess you'll have to wait until you finish high school to learn grown-up lessons like that. :(

Well I did play quite a bit yesterday without running into a single scripter, which is better than I can say for any other day in the past 2 weeks.

I found just as many on Vet as I do on Reg/Recruit. I've started playing on only Reg/Recruit so I can see nametags and report people. I'd love to play on Vet, but there's no way for me to follow DCers or report cheaters that way.

It's Arma that's causing the issues, not Battleye.

Learn to read, kid. I was flanked, as in people coming towards me from my sides. One I spotted a fair way off (300m), the other two were within 150m before they were spotted. Not to mention other snipers (who have just as long of an effective range as I do).

In the past 5 or so days, I've found more than 10 ghillies/camo clothings in random residential areas on the coast. Compared to the two weeks before that where I've never found one other than at a heli crash site, this is quite a difference. Have the spawns been changed, or am I just getting incredibly lucky?

I survived because of excellent teamwork, experience, and a good amount of luck. Besides, shouldn't people want to be safe? Isn't that why you look for weapons, med supplies, etc.? Being as safe as possible means you survive longer, which is the point, isn't it? They do. Flares make it nearly impossible to see into the area with NVGs, and it takes 10+ seconds for your eyes to adjust to be able to see somewhat after taking them off, and another 10 before you're back to normal.

Clearly you haven't ever sniped or had sniper overwatch. It is very far from being "safe in a bubble" and certainly doesn't feel like you're an "unbeatable god". Every time you shoot, you broadcast your general location to everyone within 800m. Yesterday alone, I had 3 people trying to flank me while I was on overwatch, and 3-4 snipers take shots at me. Luckily I have a good spotter and a good knowledge of the area so I didn't die.

Depends. My squad generally owns Cherno on whatever server we go on, we don't kill unarmed players, or players with anything less than an enfield, as long as they don't stick around too long or shoot at players. If they run in, grab a gun or two and leave, we let them be (unless they're a potential threat, like getting too close to our looter).

There's no safe way to get gear from the NWAF. Joining a low pop server to raid it doesn't work because everyone else has the exact same idea. From my squad's experience, if anything, higher pop servers are safer because everyone's scared of the NWAF when there's a lot of people on.

If there's contact (one party shoots at the other), alt+f4ing shouldn't be allowed unless they completely disengage. Dunno how many times I've kept people pinned down behind cover while my squad flanks just for them to DC and waste 10-15 minutes of our time for nothing.

The main thing I want is bigger cities. Right now, Cherno (the "capitol" as it were) isn't even 2 square kilometres, including the outskirts. The tiny suburb I live in is at least 10x bigger.
