    Zombies were extremely broken in 1.7.5.1 lol They do need to be made more dangerous, but not as ridiculously bad as it was with the bad spawns and insane aggroing. Most people like a difficulty that makes sense. I'm bummed to see the cans removed, I felt most of the complaints were fairly bogus (Calling to some level of immersion I don't think the game ever had), but I hope to see them back in with some regular names soon. I liked seeing the variety of foods than just a bunch of beans and sardines. A man needs options! lol

    You can't even see them nearly that well in the game either and they all seem better than I thought in those pictures. Everything seems to blend pretty well texture wise. I think alot of people just thought they'd look at their inventory and see "Herpy Dooves Muffins" rather than what is actually in your inventory "Can (Muffins)".

    Anyone find the machete yet? I went to about 8 deer hunting stands on a public server and didn't find anything new in them. I assume it is mostly just like the hatchet, but I thought it was still cool. Does it count as a tool or an actual weapon?
  4. The heck is all that? I had no problems with the update bug wise today. And yeah, its an alpha state, more things are probably gonna break than get fixed, its about seeing what works, adding in new tweaks and fixes, and hoping everything was done right. Not too mention, many bugs don't show up till a public release.

    Seeing as how people have been complaining about a texture they can't normally see and an item description they'll never read more than once, changing them to be brands familiar to the area, but keep the easter egg name translations in like the item description, wouldn't change too much.

    It's really an issue that is extremely overblown. I wouldn't be against some basic, generic, rebranding of the items, since this all has to do with the texture and item description (Not the actual item name as it is in the inventory). I think its humorous for the community to have those names. I'm actually curious how many that are complaining have actually seen them ingame, or just saw the changelog and freaked about it. For those that don't know, the food items are simply "Can (Spaghetti or Ravioli, etc)" with the item description giving the name, of which most don't ever read more than once. For a community driven mod, I think its a nice nod to the team and mods who help out.

    Yeah, I don't think anyone honestly ever reads the description for items other than the guns when they need to remember what kind of ammo it takes lol In game, you only ever see them as Can (Spaghetti) or Can (Ravioli) or Can (Muffin) (Honestly, that is the only one anyone should complain about it, cause it is a muffin in a can...WHAT IS THIS! lol), with the description giving the name. It doesn't clutter up the inventory, you can barely see the picture on the cans anyways. I can understand immersion, but this isn't like adding in a laser gun or jetpack into the game, it is simply a texture most won't pay attention to and a description no one will read more than once.

    I thought it was kinda funny to see the added trash items, adds alittle more variety than just seeing empty cans everywhere. I'd like to see them add even more stuff. Forks, dishware, crumpled wrappers, magazines, etc...It adds alittle bit to the game when you see more things around.

    You've gone so far overboard, your struggling for things to complain about lol This mod is an alpha, for the mod. It was always that. It was then kinda gonna be something to playtest stuff for the standalone, but they decided to make a better game and make it entirely original content, then allowing the mod to be community driven by people with their own free time. There will be DayZ the mod and whatever the standalone will be, which probably won't have the kind of community support that DayZ has, such as being able to easily make new maps and mods for people to play. I really can't blame BI for giving more support to the mod, because it is helping to sell their older title, making it easier for people to get into the mod by just downloading it through Steam, though it is blatantly called a mod, and is free, so they aren't doing anything really wrong there.

    Good to know your completely wrong. DayZ is free. It is a free mod. Yes, you have to buy ARMA2 to play it, but that is because it is a mod, the mod doesn't become something more because of that, it was originally designed to be for those that had ARMA2 already. The mod is also not the alpha, they are two separate things now as the standalone has basically rebuilt everything. It might've originally started out as that in the early days of the standalone, but now they are two completley different entities, the mod being community driven, the standalone having full developer support.

    The foods thing is such a non-issue and people are making them out to be worse off than it really is. In your inventory, they are still just labeled by their food types, so you don't have to say what their name is, and you can only tell what they are by reading the description, which no one does if you played the game longer than an hour lol

    And I can confirm the food thing is a non-issue. The name is only in the description, and the picture you really can't see well, and most won't even pay attention to it, people are just complaining about an item description. The bigger variety of food items is nice and a welcomed addition, it doesn't mess with the inventory (In the inventory, they are actually just labeled by their food item) though I have to wonder...Who would make muffins in a can? lol As for the actual update, I have to ask if the zombies really had reduced speed. I didn't see zombies being actually slower than me at all when I was playing, they would still stay on my tail, even seemingly catching up alittle bit at some points. Zombie hearing does seem to be off, as it seemed like when I was running by zombies, it was kinda hard to get their attention, then at other times, they'd definitely hear me and be right on me like usual. I couldn't tell if things were really better or worse.

    Its not nearly as immersion breaking as people are making it out to be in any way. Also, the mods didn't make them do it, and it was cleared by Dean, so its hardly a big deal.

    Its seriously sad when people are making such a fuss over such an extremely minor addition to the game that isn't as immersion breaking as anyone is making it out to be. This update was more important than any of that stuff as I just realized they brought down zombie run speed, something I've been wanting to see for SOOOO long. That is awesome. That makes this update worth it.
  15. Actually 1.7.5 had some problems that needed to be fixed, so don't act like it was fine. Your testing/playing an alpha mod, this is all expected to happen, with updates both breaking and fixing things till they get it right.

    New update looks good, I like the additions of extra food, a new weapon sounds great, and it sounds like the Crossbow might be worth it abit more now that ammo can stack lol

    Most of those should be server settings. That is a legitimate disagreement to have lol I hope your #1 is just you joking also. I don't even understand what #3 is. Bloom should be a player option, so that is somewhat removing it. Some games do have that. Everything else, a server option, though dots have been removed already in the mod at least. The weapon optics one, I don't agree with at all though. There are guns that have zoom optics. This is just fact, there's no legitimate reason to remove them. Tweak and alter the higher powered snipers sure, but not remove. There isn't really much I'd like to see removed, particularly feature wise, as it all pretty much works as it should. Most of it just needs tweaks to be made better.

  20. I think admin that do this are terrible admin and can ruin the game. Admin should do nothing more than keep control of the server by banning/kicking scripters and trolls. Sure, its their servers, they can do what they want, but giving away free gear or porting people around defeats the purpose of the game. It also throws off the economy of the server if your just giving away mostly rare weapons and gear to people.
  21. I'm all for having more animals in the game, especially hostile ones. Wolves, bears, moose, deer, wild dogs, it would make the game world more engaging.
  22. The game should remove any marker on the map I think. I actually want to see the map be a realistic map, one that doesn't scroll or anything, it at most puts the latitude and longitude markings and you can mostly just read names on towns, being able to visually zoom in abit to read a little closer. If you have a compass and a map, you should NEVER be lost in this game. Its not that hard.

    I think with the idea of creating a HUD-less DayZ SA, that the map could be done with a better mechanic, much like with Far Cry 2. https://thelure.files.wordpress.com/2010/09/far-cry-2.jpg Your able to pull out the map and see where you are based on the section of the map available, maybe pressing map again would bring it up fullscreen so you can look at everything, but something like the picture shown would be better for the immediate area on the map, so you get at least a good few kilometers on that section of the quick use map. The compass or GPS could be in the other hand so you could figure out your direction. This would also change the use of the GPS/Watch/Compass, as when you press K, instead of pulling out a floating Compass, your hand would be holding it, and your watch would be worn on the bottom of the wrist, so you imagine your hand holding the compass out and you see the watch just fine. Bringing these out would also lower your weapon. It basically just makes the map more functional on the go rather than pulling you into this out of game map menu all the time.

    I certainly don't get those that don't want change cause they are comfortable with a certain way, especially when its already guaranteed that standalone will share almost nothing with the mod. Rocket said that almost nothing is coming from the mod, its all being redesigned. With that, they should go all out, especially when the purpose of the mod is to try and make everything very intuitive and realistic, no HUD, less menus, stuff like that. Its the much better way to go for the game.

    Bambie is still the worst term for a new spawn, always will be lol I think at most, there should be punching. Its obviously the weakest form of attack in the game, but its a simple mechanic that allows a person to fight off a zombie, maybe it takes four or fight hits to kill one, way more for people, but gives them at the very least a basic form of attack. Plus it'll just be funny to see the inevitable badass who uses nothing but this fists to survive lol
