Stand Alone Better Be POLISHED
Maxgor replied to arma2eraseditself's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yet another person that didn't understand what they were doing when they got DayZ. People really need to learn what the point of Alphas are. Also in response to OP posting in another spot, no, Rocket has no responsibility to finish this mod. He could abandon it and never touch it ever again. He could've done it at any point over the past months if he really wanted to. It's a mod. It's free, it wasn't meant to bring in new people to ARMA2, it was meant as something for people that already owned the game, to play. It just happened to be a very interesting idea, that the media and youtube hyped it like crazy, which made the whole thing take off. The purpose of the standalone is to fix things you just can't do with the mod. You can only hack into a game so far, before you hit a wall, due to how the original game was designed. The hatchet is an example of that. The only way he could get it in, was to basically make it a nearly infinite round gun with really low range and accuracy. -
Unconscious upon starting a server, Really long hourglass wait.
Maxgor replied to MrCallumKing's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Adding myself to this problem. Just started and now it seems to happen with every log in. The first time was in a city, in a fire station, but I got lucky I was on a quiet server and didn't die. My second was now out in the woods, logged in after some time off, back to the long load. Pretty lame, but I just need to remember to log out in really safe places lol -
It's fun making up nonsense percentages for fictional ideas, isn't it? The atmosphere of DayZ isn't meant to be a care bear "Lets survive together!" type of atmosphere, it's playing a game with the idea, that at any time, you could die. You can play the good guy and try to be friendly, or take the chance of being shot. If everyone had to have a reason to kill someone, people would probably never kill each other.
-
Wait..."nice" hacker? He admits to killing people using god mode and cheats to kill people or get revenge on people, just because they shot at him for no reason (With a pistol, no less), while also giving his friends the best gear in the game, which in turn, they'll most likely kill people who are aren't on the "level playing field" as them, further adding to the scripting menace in the game. He's not out there just handing out AS50's to people just getting in the game, which would be a terrible thing, but to his close friends.

Why people should stop leaving satchel charges in tents + Animal Cruetly
Maxgor replied to mr_seacucumber's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Must have been some good eats. Mythbusters proved you can make a mean, tenderized, steak with explosives :D -
Ah yes, such intellect you've shown by correcting my grammar. How about you come back when you're not a cheating, hypocritical, dick. You claim the other person is an asshole for trying to kill you, even though you had gear you cheated to get and also admit to using godmode to kill people who you think are just being plain mean to you. Level playing field, my ass.
-
Your not smarter, your cheating, making yourself out to be worse than the douchebag that killed you. This game isn't about having a level playing field withe everyone. Some people are gonna have double barreled shotguns, some are gonna have M107 sniper rifles. Learning how to deal with this, is the GAME. If you don't want to get sniped, stay out of Cherno, Elektro, and the NW airfield or if you do plan to go there, be wary of the obvious sniper locations. It's called learning and getting better at a game, not taking the easy way out.

I'm not unsatisfied with the game, but I only play it once in awhile anymore. Mostly just waiting for either an update or the standalone alpha to come out, but the past day or so I've popped back on to fool around with surviving more.
-
All I see from the OP is "I'm not very good at this game, people kill me too much, so I negate the whole point of playing the game, which is to survive and get gear, but give me and my friends good gear, and then cheat when I feel like I don't want to die...even though I'm a hacker and can just get more gear anyways." Your just making excuses for a game that is too challenging for you, to try and validate your reason for hacking, which is completely crap. Yes, there are douchebags that shoot on sight (Though that is part of this game, that is why bandits exist). Yes, there are hackers that will kill you. Yes, there are bugs that will make you lose your gear. The biggest draw of the game is how intense it is when your life is on the line, struggling to survive, trying not to die. Taking that away from yourself, is really like taking away one of the biggest aspects of the game.

IGN Live Presents: DayZ with Game Creator Dean Hall
Maxgor replied to Holliday (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
That interview was worth it for just some of the funny moments lol Would've been nice had they brought up new stuff, but I'm not really too bummed about it. -
Yeah, there are tons of gun locations in Cherno. You can find the majority of lower loot guns there. G17, 1911, Revolver, M14, MP5, AK's, Shotguns, etc...yes there are times when Cherno is dead empty, I've seen it before, but that's due to it being picked clean, usually from high pop servers.

You just respawned, head to Elektro/Cherno or straight North?
Maxgor replied to welch's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I always head to cities now. I did the run north thing and it gets abit old after awhile lol Your death is more guaranteed in Cherno/Elektro, but I'm finding some fun experiences by being there. I'll probably get bored of that and head north again eventually. -
DayZ is not free so stop saying it is.
Maxgor replied to treyshone's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
No, he's specifically said he's continuing work on the mod. There's an update on the horizon. Just because he's not updating every week, doesn't mean he's dropping the mod. And of course the standalone won't be free, that's an actual separate game. DayZ is a mod. It's an optional mod to a videogame. Just because people bought ARMA2 for DayZ, doesn't mean they bought DayZ. -

There was talk about going completely HUD-less, using sound and visual queues for everything. Dogs will growl if zombies are nearby, will attack zombies, can become friendly with people if they stick near you, but also become more aggressive against new players. There was talk about weapon degradation, not with weapons breaking, but maybe you find a poor quality Lee Enfield, which works, but it's not as accurate, or you find a perfect quality version. There might be some weapon customizing. They said that the new version of Chernaurus with more open buildings is pretty much already done. Hackers will be handled better when they go standalone and that's all I remember. -
It's fantastic for scavenging, it just depends on how long ago the server restarted and how many people are playing on it.

Maxgor replied to treyshone's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
That's not how things work. Even if you bought ARMA2 for DayZ, you still bought just ARMA2 to play a free mod. Rocket could've just stopped making this mod months ago, because there's nothing holding himself to the mod. Luckily for us, he wants to push forward past the mod into the standalone. Hell, he actually has no reason to continue work on the mod right now, but he plans to anyways for testing and such till the release the standalone alpha. -

Maxgor replied to Holliday (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
He said he can't really do anything about hackers in the mod, which is why the standalone is gonna be better, for that fact alone. *EDIT* A form of weapon of degradation and weapon customization would be pretty cool. -

He breaks another guys leg and then gets rammed by a hackers chopper. That was amazing lol The moments when hackers can be hilariously awesome XD -

LOL He broke the guys leg to leave him behind XD I do love the talk about going HUD-less. Everything is a visual or sound queue. -
Moderators shouldn't have to be care bears with the community, especially when alot of people are hostile, have the wrong idea about the mod, or feel they have greater entitlement than they do. I'd rather have honest mods.

Why Bandit skins are a terrible idea.
Maxgor replied to RaxUK's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Humanity needs to be removed till it works properly. I got a few kills, basically went bandit, didn't really mind since I was going for action in the cities, but now everytime I die, I respawn as a bandit...Every time I log back in, I'm a bandit, my humanity resets to 0 every time and it makes it really impossible to play as a survivor/hero now cause the system is broken. I haven't even killed anyone in a few days with numerous deaths. I'll eventually revert to normal after some random length of time, but during that time, I might as well be running around with a flare on me. The idea is kinda interesting, but it hasn't been fleshed out too well. -
Can we get humanity removed till it works right? I'm tired of every log in, not respawn, every time I log in, I revert back to Bandit. I haven't killed anyone in a long while, many deaths now, I shouldn't keep spawning as bandit. Yes, I'll eventually revert after some random length of time, but it's frustrating. I even randomly got -10k humanity today for no real reason. It hurts my chances to live if I keep spawning as a "bad guy" to people.

How much would YOU pay for DayZ standalone and Why?
Maxgor replied to sparta436's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You didn't buy the DayZ alpha, you bought a fully functional game, to play a slightly functional mod. That's different from buying the standalone in Alpha, which will get proper support, as the reason the standalone exists, is because the mod simply can't progress in it's current state, being very limited in what it can accomplish, such as stamping out hacks, properly implementing weapons and vehicles, etc... -
Dear Benevolent Bandits and Generous Good Bastards
Maxgor replied to broguenz's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I actually came across this myself today, where a guy that was hacking was gonna give me gear. He spawned boxes, said to take whatever, I politely declined and started running off, he killed me, saying he was just helping me. Now, if I had taken gear, would he have killed me? I don't know, but basically, I agree. I'll take stuff from friends or maybe even people if it's legit, like they are offering some supplies or whatever, but I don't want all the best gear just given to me. The majority of the game is about survival, I actually enjoy searching for stuff. -

Maxgor replied to sparta436's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
If DayZ was released as a full fledged, completely finished game, I'd pay 40 bucks. Nowadays I feel the max 60 dollar price point for alot of games isn't warranted unless there is alot of content to warrant it. For an alpha, like doing it how Minecraft started in alpha and then built up and got more expensive as it went, I would do 10 to 15 bucks for the start...I don't think I could pay over 20 in the middle beta phase. It's either I get in at the ground level cheap, or buy a finished game for a proper game price.
