Duct Tape Mod. If you find a roll, you can use it a couple times to attach flashlights and knives to the ends of certain weapons. It sounds silly, but I really don't think it's that far fetched lol

Anyone else plan to play the mod even after the standalone comes out?
Maxgor replied to rollo23's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
See no reason to go back to the mod after the standalone. Maybe for some private servers with added maps and what not if people start expanding it on their own...Like how Minecraft has it's own stable build and then people make their own offshoot mods. -
[Android] DayZ Central v2.27 - All-in-one App [Database, HD Chernarus map with Loot and Tables, Waypoints, Guides, and more!]
Maxgor replied to skunkfu's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Pretty fantastic. All it needs is the loot locations added to the map and it'll be awesome. -
Current Dayz mod and the future Dayz Standalone game.
Maxgor replied to NicholaiGinovaef's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
DayZ was never meant to be a MMO to the degree that needed quests and grinding and other stuff like that. It's a survival simulator. You try to survive, that was only ever the point. Do anything else and it's not DayZ. If your wanting that, your not wanting DayZ. -
SIx launcher or Dayz commander ?

Commander is way better than Six to me. -
Current Dayz mod and the future Dayz Standalone game.
Maxgor replied to NicholaiGinovaef's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You are a completely oblivious person then if you haven't seen anything about the cheating. It's been talked about to death and the standalone will clamp down on the scripters, because it will be it's own game. They can't fix it now cause the base game has a more open system that sounds like it was running on the "Honor System" to not hack, but with the popularity of DayZ, it brought the scum out of the woodworks. And you payed 40 bucks for a game to play a mod that was well know for being buggy and having alot of hackers, you knew what you were getting into. -
While i may looke like one, i'm NOT a bandit!
Maxgor replied to Tordenskiold's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
That's why the game is pretty faulty in the Bandit/Survivor department right now. If your being shot at and the person isn't a bandit, you'll get negative points. Then you become a bandit, and to stay alive, you have to shoot back more cause people are going to shoot you, giving you even more. -
Weird, first I've ever seen an infected doctor. I've put hours into the game and been to that hospitals a few dozen times and not seen one once.

DayZ players should have the courtesy to play Arma2 at least once or twice.
Maxgor replied to mio.rogvall@gmail.com's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Have really very little interest in playing a military sim. If I'm gonna play a military shooter, I'm gonna play Battlefield 3 cause I'm going to have more fun with that. I might poke ARMA2 once, but I really saw nothing interesting about ARMA2, but DayZ enticed me for being a survival shooter online with perma-death and have really enjoyed the mod, problems and all. -
Alright, now I should be able to visit the airfield by Cherno again! It just seemed to get progressively worse over the past few weeks, from a small annoying aspect, to becoming so bad I could literally not see anything if I looked anywhere in that direction lol

Getting sniped is pretty easy to avoid really. Most are not going to shoot a moving target at the distances they would be at. They are gonna wait for you to get down and loot something. So if your going to loot something, make sure your not just sitting by the window pointed at the well known sniper camping hill. If your are getting shot at on the move, keeping moving, zig-zag, serpentine, get behind cover and figure out a plan. I've seen people in sniper videos that aren't too bright when realizing they are being sniped and where the obvious sniping locations are. Also stay off roofs. Most roofs have nothing of value aside from the hospital and it's up to you if you want to try and get the easier loot on the roof, or break in down below and risk making some noise.

Where did you get your weapon (AKA how bad is loot inflation)?
Maxgor replied to Heiduk's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I don't really go for killing people now, so I've mostly just been getting my weapons from loot spawns. If I have to, I'll kill a bandit and loot them, but I'm not particularly trying for that right now. -
Will rocket ever stop getting his wig plucked in interviews?
Maxgor replied to TheMachine's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Population on the mod really doesn't many anything anymore, with the standalone on the horizon. Even if he patched a couple things, there are still tons of other stuff that aren't going to be fixed cause of it's mod status. Lots of people are just waiting for the standalone right now. I'm still playing, but I don't do alot anymore other than hopefully get in alittle action or meet up with someone in game that won't just shoot me lol -
DayZ community supports Hackers and scripters
Maxgor replied to ShigZ's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The community isn't silent about it, we just know by now that there's very little that can be done right now till standalone releases with those scripts closed out. -
I think this could be a good idea. Yes, it won't get rid of the hacked weapons that will return, but it will get rid of some of the excess weapons that came around due to the tent and saving issues. It won't hurt people to start over. No ones character is guaranteed to be permanent in Alpha. The problem with that, is that you can't just pick the duped or illegal guns out one by one. The way to do it is to wipe everything. This is an alpha, a test build, if you've played games before that might have persistent elements during alpha or beta, your rarely guaranteed your character.

Considering buying A4 + Arrowhead for day z. Worth it? How to get the most from it?
Maxgor replied to Leezeebub's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
DayZ has alot of problems now and I wouldn't exactly recommend it in it's current state, but you could still probably have some fun in it, especially if you have some people to play with. I don't regret getting it back in July, but I would just say to wait for the standalone, unless you could maybe get the game for under 20 bucks. Anything for under 20 bucks is usually worth it unless it's just a really bad game lol -
Opinions on releasing DayZ on console?
Maxgor replied to Statik (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Console games only stifle development if they are built alongside the PC version. It's pretty obvious that they are gonna focus on PC, especially with how the release setup is designed. It'll be like how Minecraft was released on PC and then a version was later on built for the 360. That game didn't suffer from being put on console. -
Really fantastic design. Signficantly better than what is there is now for sure. Would definitely like to see them implement something like this in the standalone. There's dumbing down and then there is streamlining a recognizably broken/faulty design. Of course it's just a mod and there is only so much that can be done, but there are a number of things that I feel ARMA2 does as "realism" and really is just poor design on the part of the developer. From the slow animations to how things are interacted with, it's "realism" that is "unrealistic".

One server ruins hours of gameplay :/
Maxgor replied to 2hi4me2cu's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
And this is why we are waiting for the standalone. If you do anything in a reasonably populated server, expect to die. Actually, being an Alpha, expect to die alot anyways, cause there are some many bugs. I died once just the other day at the airfield in a way that could've been a hacker, but no one else was around and no one else was killed, or I had a terrible glitched that killed me. It's the way of the Alpha. Once it's an actual game and not a mod, then we can see more reliability in surviving. -
The Bandit Dilemma: An Inner Look at the Economics and Psychology of Banditry and the Inevitable Collapse of Day Z
Maxgor replied to Chiefmon's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I skimmed through the OP thread and while I would agree with some aspects, it's not going to be the end of DayZ. I've seen a number of players around here that try and purposefully do things the harder way. Sure, just being a murdering dick is easier, but once people work themselves into groups, it'll create something better right there. People will learn that if they want to solo, bandit might be easier, though if they want to group, getting a group of bandits together will be harder to do if they aren't all friends. I mean, who is going to trust a bandit? A leaning towards grouped survivors could be something we end up seeing and putting people into larger groups, can detour solo bandits from just being all kill crazy and steering away from them. -
Opinions on releasing DayZ on console?
Maxgor replied to Statik (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think it's fine if they want it on console, but clearly it will be the dominant game on PC as the console version will have to be chopped up to even be made possible. Not that the PC version couldn't use alittle streamlining, but the console version and the PC version are gonna be very different games. You can look at Battlefield 3 as an example, despite what was the main focus of the game, the console version is the inferior version of the game, running with much less people and smaller maps. There wouldn't be 50 people on a server and a full sized Chernarus I think. -
So why is the game fun in its current form?
Maxgor replied to jacket13's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Hackers? In DayZ? I think your lying... As for being any fun, I usually steer clear of the really populated servers, so I rarely come across them. Nothing can be done about them till standalone. -
Even for standalone, it just not an idea that makes much sense. The point of DayZ is not just to kill people, to basically hack in a bunch of weapons and set everyone off. It's mildly entertaining, but with how the game is designed, you'd have to basically make a completely separate multiplayer deathmatch mode, and then what is that point? There are plenty of games for that already that do it better. The whole point of the game is survival, esports don't play into that and serve little purpose. Now if two clans managed to get onto a server, maybe it's one clan storming a server, and the objective was to say take over the city that was occupied by one clan, having this form more naturally, that would be a killer thing to watch, but it's not really something for esports.

I've had hackers try to give me gear, it led to my death saying no to it lol
-
I'd wait. Even if you might enjoy it, the mod just has alot of problems that probably wouldn't be worth it for new players anymore. Wait for the standalone, which will hopefully be abit more stable all around than the mod and start from there, unless you can just get ARMA2 for like 10 bucks or less and then it probably doesn't matter lol
