Moderators shouldn't have to be care bears with the community, especially when alot of people are hostile, have the wrong idea about the mod, or feel they have greater entitlement than they do. I'd rather have honest mods.

Why Bandit skins are a terrible idea.
Maxgor replied to RaxUK's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Humanity needs to be removed till it works properly. I got a few kills, basically went bandit, didn't really mind since I was going for action in the cities, but now everytime I die, I respawn as a bandit...Every time I log back in, I'm a bandit, my humanity resets to 0 every time and it makes it really impossible to play as a survivor/hero now cause the system is broken. I haven't even killed anyone in a few days with numerous deaths. I'll eventually revert to normal after some random length of time, but during that time, I might as well be running around with a flare on me. The idea is kinda interesting, but it hasn't been fleshed out too well. -
Can we get humanity removed till it works right? I'm tired of every log in, not respawn, every time I log in, I revert back to Bandit. I haven't killed anyone in a long while, many deaths now, I shouldn't keep spawning as bandit. Yes, I'll eventually revert after some random length of time, but it's frustrating. I even randomly got -10k humanity today for no real reason. It hurts my chances to live if I keep spawning as a "bad guy" to people.

How much would YOU pay for DayZ standalone and Why?
Maxgor replied to sparta436's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You didn't buy the DayZ alpha, you bought a fully functional game, to play a slightly functional mod. That's different from buying the standalone in Alpha, which will get proper support, as the reason the standalone exists, is because the mod simply can't progress in it's current state, being very limited in what it can accomplish, such as stamping out hacks, properly implementing weapons and vehicles, etc... -
Dear Benevolent Bandits and Generous Good Bastards
Maxgor replied to broguenz's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I actually came across this myself today, where a guy that was hacking was gonna give me gear. He spawned boxes, said to take whatever, I politely declined and started running off, he killed me, saying he was just helping me. Now, if I had taken gear, would he have killed me? I don't know, but basically, I agree. I'll take stuff from friends or maybe even people if it's legit, like they are offering some supplies or whatever, but I don't want all the best gear just given to me. The majority of the game is about survival, I actually enjoy searching for stuff. -
How much would YOU pay for DayZ standalone and Why?
Maxgor replied to sparta436's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
If DayZ was released as a full fledged, completely finished game, I'd pay 40 bucks. Nowadays I feel the max 60 dollar price point for alot of games isn't warranted unless there is alot of content to warrant it. For an alpha, like doing it how Minecraft started in alpha and then built up and got more expensive as it went, I would do 10 to 15 bucks for the start...I don't think I could pay over 20 in the middle beta phase. It's either I get in at the ground level cheap, or buy a finished game for a proper game price. -
After getting nearly killed, basically losing all my blood, down to 93 by the time I bandaged, futile effort really, I then actually died. Got the screen, did the whole thing to start over, but I didn't get asked for gender and it put me at the beach. I'm still the same character as before, I have 93 blood, but I can't move, press escape, can't do anything, I just have the knockout timer on the screen, but it doesn't decrease. How do I get out of this? Changing servers doesn't help.
-
YES! I got lucky! I was just about to post to ask someone to come kill me, I had some good supplies, but luckily someone happened to come by, keep telling me to "Get up" and thankfully shot me. Thank you, kind, dickish, stranger, you've saved me some horrible waiting lol
-
Well I got the You're Dead screen and the time doesn't actually go out, it's not like when you get that long wait on the timer and it takes a minute to get up, it just stays on screen. Can't move, can't talk to anyone, can't do anything, can't even just abort out of the server, I have to force close it.
-
If you want a camp, you build it away from any location that spawns something. Green Mountain is just a bad place to be when a dozen or more zombies spawn when you come to it lol It's not even that good of a spot to camp since even if vehicles spawn, they are pretty rare for the most part and most people are sensible enough not to go there lol

Would you Abort if in Danger of death?
Maxgor replied to abnormalweeny's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I use to abort once in awhile when I first started, but now it's just part of the game. Never abort in a firefight, it's just a sad thing to do. I only do it if a hacker is around or I'm loading into a spot and there's that brief moment of hearing whats around you, such as either gun fire or flies, and then I'll disconnect. Only real times I'd disconnect other than having glitches or just leaving. -
5 Thousand Peak players on Arma2 today in Steam
Maxgor replied to Gumpnstein's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
lol Thinking a million people were playing the game all at once. I don't think there are enough servers to support every single person that downloaded DayZ lol -
Why do you think he's going standalone? DayZ is a mess right now and he can't move forward without basically ditching the mod.
-
A smaller scale DayZ could easily work. If it was singleplayer or a smaller scale co-op, you just take something like half the map, maybe add in some scripted spots that come in when you get close, maybe even have a win condition after surviving a certain amount of days. The idea is very simple, it's not hard to tweak it to be something completely different to DayZ. Maybe just do it more like a very large and open Dead Rising. You have 7 days to survive, you can do whatever you want till then, but you'll probably never explore it all in that time, giving replayablity to the game. There's a brand new zombie game right there :D
-
You can easily do DayZ without being DayZ. The idea of DayZ is a pretty broad and generic idea really. The zombies really aren't unique, the setting isn't overly unique, the mechanics are basic shooter mechanics. About the only unique idea for DayZ right now is that it's done on dedicated servers with upwards of 50 people. I don't really know anything else like that right now. Heck, STALKER and it's mods did alot of this already, just on a singleplayer level, rather being online.
-
It says it's coming to PC on the website under the trailer.
-
The game will only become harder once its fixed. Zombies are broken, loot is really easy to get (I've seen super markets where you can find like 3 Alice packs in them among other great gear), and the only real danger are people camping cities, something you only have to visit for a short bit to get supplies and then leave.
-
Your edit doesn't really change anything, it's been in development longer than DayZ and it looks to share little with DayZ other than basically being a zombie survival game.
-
Wrong section, but I think it looks good. It has some pretty interesting mechanics to the game that separates it from what DayZ is trying to do. Cause DayZ was the first zombie survival game right and has been around for such a long time, right? lol
-
Till they fix it, it would be best to at least remove those models, those pointless dead soldiers and I think they are a debris pile. They happen more often now than they use to, almost always in Cherno and it seems that airfield near cherno is the worst cause there are so many artificats there.

Zombies are most likely the biggest threat..
Maxgor replied to Jesters (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'd like to see Zombies be abit stronger, have there be many more zombies, at least twice of what there is now, and have all their bugs fixed like losing them in trees or buildings, and how they only walk in buildings. In turn, they need to lose that stupid GTA cop mode factor of how they can pretty much be faster than you, but never actually catch you, just have them be abit slower, so you can run away, but with everything else, unless you really lose them, your not gonna be able to go hunting in towns or cities. -
The DayZ forums have been sluggish for awhile now. Don't think their server is handling the people load super well. *EDIT* And just as I say that, the forums have picked up speed lol I managed to get back on, but of course it went back to a point before I got my gear off my dead body so I lost my items, but luckily the server had basically restarted, so I was able to gather up some more supplies and get myself kinda back to where I was, just missing those awesome NVG's I scored :C Oh well, that's DayZ lol

Should DayZ continue after Standalone? POLL
Maxgor replied to shahanshahin's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Seeing how limited the mod is, compared to what they do can do with it being standalone, I don't see much of a reason. Maybe just keep it running, do some bug fixes and what not after whatever version ends up being the last before the standalone comes out, and just have that. I know I won't be going back to the mod once I get the standalone. -
Yeah I don't know why it does that exactly. YOu just gotta keep trying till you find the right server.

Artifact glitch is getting ridiculous
Maxgor replied to KillCam96's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I mostly see it from certain debris and and dead soldier bodies. One of the most common and prevalent ones is in Cherno by the clock tower building. I think there's a debris pile over that does it constantly. Usually i can get rid of it with a v-sync reset, but it's not a guarantee.
