    DayZ Mod 1.7.5.1 Update

There's tough and there's "no one but a small group of dedicated masochists are going to play it". It's going to be interesting to see what effect this update has, if I was involved in the mod I'd be monitoring player hours and especially new player retention. You may like playing with an ever dwindling pool of hardcore players, but I'm pretty sure the people developing the mod don't want that. Possible compromises could be things like only military zombies get the "talk" ability or the further north you go the further the zombies can "talk". No idea if those are even feasible. *edit* also what the guy above me said.

    DayZ Mod 1.7.5.1 Update

Won't somebody please think of the bambis?! I've been playing Dayz for maybe 8 months or so and this patch has made things challenging, get spotted, shoot etc and you have 20 zeds after you. That may be fine for the experienced player, but I think it's going to be too much for someone new to the game and it's not like it was noob friendly to start off with. I tried picking off a zed that was denying me a clean run to the tents from the hill above starry, in a way that would normally have been totally safe and 10 seconds later there's a horde charging at me. Shooting the horde only made it bigger. I admit it was fun in a "arghhhh, that wasn't meant to happen now run away!" kind of way. But anyone new to the game is just going to get destroyed and then stop playing. Obviously, that will be bad for the mod. Auto-drop tin cans would be nice, that way they aren't in my inventory but are still available if I need to make a pot noodle.
  3. I've had this quite a bit. It would say "Phil has died" when I joined and then I'd spawn on the coast with no gear and no backpack, or if I was really unlucky, miles off the map. The only way I found to stop this happening was to alt tab as soon as I saw the "has died" message and then use the close game button on Dayz Commander. I've only managed to do it successfully once, so I can't promise it will work. It hasn't happened to me for a while so maybe updating your Arma and Dayz version helps.

    bored of lone wolfing it...

Best to say roughly where in the world you are, timezone and maybe other stuff like when you usually play. Say if I was looking for some people to team up with, there'd be no point if they are on the other side of the world.

    UK220 - =MGUK=

So I joined this server: UK220 DaYZ - UK (v1.7.2.6/Beta 96584) [Regular| [GMT] dayzmod.com - =MGUK= 81.19.208.22:2300 Time - 5:30AM GMT Got on with looting the NW airfield and then got teleported next to a guy in a ghillie and then got killed. No idea where I got teleported to, there was a concrete floor and then I died. There were 2 players on server when I joined: IM A BADASS WOW They were there when I left. I tried to disconnect as quick as I could but too late. So there goes 34 day guy and all the kit.

    Humanity should reset at death

Minus how much!? You deserve demon horns and a pitchfork, you bad person you. I do understand your argument though. Assuming you genuinely want to change then you are pretty much screwed under the current system. But there are a few problems with changing it. If it's based on one life then it would be relatively easy to get a hero skin and then if you were a bad human being, exploit that to gain trust and kill people. That's assuming they would make it easier to gain/lose humanity, which they would have to if it were per life. I quite liked the idea of a points cap, if that were set right then it would mean the most evil player (I'm looking at you OP) still has a chance to change. But it would have to mean a lot of work and even then it would mean 6 months of killing unarmed players could be undone by fewer good deeds. Perhaps there could be intermediate skins, so if you do nice things and don't score negative humanity points for x number of hours you could get a "bandit trying to be nice" status. Sort of like fallout 3 when you can be loved by a faction but if you kill some of them it changes your status with them to acknowledge that you killed some of them. That's likely to be difficult to implement and probably confusing for players. So enjoy your demon horns and pitchfork you murdering murderer, because I think you are stuck with it.
  7. So far I've killed one player in a couple of months playing and that was a friend of mine I shot accidentally trying to save him from zombies. I decided early on that I wasn't going to shoot other players unless I had to and so far I've not had to shoot at other players often. I guess it partly depends on your initial experiences in the game and what you enjoy about it. On my first go I met a nice french guy on a bike who helped me and another player who could have killed me but declared himself friendly and went on his way, so I knew there were nice people playing. All before I'd figured out direct communication. Then the next 6 lives were all taken by other players including a couple of cheats. Two guys identified themselves as friendly, they had rifles, I had an axe, they asked if I wanted to join up with them, I said no thanks I'm not playing for much longer and they shot me. Then I'd just spawned, was running away from zombies and ran into a farm building where I found a player looting some stuff. He didn't seem to notice me run past him or the zombie that was now a few feet away from him, so I warned him. He shot the zombie and then me. So I learned there are also players who aren't so nice. I avoid high population servers as those seem to be popular with cheats, I avoid other players as most seem to shoot on sight and I don't want to shoot on sight because I might be shooting one of the good guys. Me and a friend could have killed a guy the other day, we'd quit the server to get rid of graphical glitches approaching NW airfield. We leave it a few minutes before reconnecting and when we do there is a player crossing a field between our positions. He had high end gear, ghillie suit and some fancy sniper rifle I didn't recognise. We disconnected, it would have been unfair to kill him and we didn't want him shooting us thinking we were stalking him or server hopping for kills. I like the exploring and looting, I can play death match in other games.
