If all you do as a game is provide the player with the tools to kill things, then don't cry that you're getting killed. the game is see how long you can survive for and get the biggest gun. I hope that maybe the survival will be as painstaking as Don't Starve where hunger is a real threat that forces you to play the game to feed your hunger. Right now DayZ is pretty broken in terms of how you can keep yourself alive, which leaves the guns. and the pvp as the only real challenge and gameplay. -
So...how are you SUPPOSED to lose agro (mod and standalone)?

I just hope the game's survival system gets a decent enough overhaul to justify certain player actions. Let's face it, you get an axe, matches and a canteen and you can survive as long as you want squatting in a bush. I'd like to kill another player out of necessity to keep my character alive, not just for entertainment value. Same with visiting a city. I want the survival aspect to drive my in game choices, not the boredom aspect forcing me to dick around as squatting in a bush does actually get boring. KoSing happens because people are bored. I want KoSing to happen because people are starving. -

There seems to be a rather naive nature in dealing with obvious valid concerns for the games future. If people didn't like the game at all they wouldn't post on the forums, or why else would they. I've been doing a lot of DayZ bashing, because it's sad to see something not realise its huge amount of potential. -

Is this game an indie title? Rocket came from that area right? Show me the standalone indie title, that requires the kind of PC requirements this game does... That's actually successful. I'm not getting the game until the reviews come out. I most assuredly won't be getting the game if I read the following from critics and reviewers: "game still suffers from FPS drops and stuttering" "if you have the mod of Day-Z not enough new or expansive content to justify purchasing the standalone" Like me and probably alot of other people, I bought arma to play day-z. Which I came to realise was a buggy poorly optimised mess of a game, with the unique graphics setting in which turning things up will get you extra frames, I will hold off on getting DayZ until I hear how much more the game has been optimised. I will not buy Day-Z if turns out the only real difference is, a better AI, some new skins for players, enterable building and a swamp in kamenka. It's not worth the money to me if thats it. -

His own naivety has got him in this mess anyway, why even say a release date? Loads of publishers don't, why? Because when you make a promise or give your word on something then renege on it you come across like an idiot. -

@Target Practice Yes because the ammount of work bioshock infinite must take must fucking dwarf the DayZ standalone. You're also forgetting Bioshock infinite has this huge amount of time in development because it's getting released as what's known as a Finished Product, that will only be supported with slight performance patches. Standalone is a completely different beast in these respects as its not going to be released as a finished project; at all. Like I said it's like Minecraft/ The only reason why its not getting pushed out as it must still have some serious serious issues with it. Either that or they are afraid of getting trashed on by critics by not being too much of a leap from the Mod and no one will buy it. But seriously, DayZ is Rockets creation. I wouldn't go up Mount Everest if I knew I had deadlines to make. It sounds like he's demoralised by the game to be honest and he wants out. Sounds like he's not up to it. -

I'm saying if you fail to miss your expected release dates; its fail. I assume Rocket wants to do this proffessionally right? I mean hes getting fucking paid lol. Let me make another example for you; Peter Jackson is in the middle of filming lord of the rings, but dont worry he's decided to fuck off half way through the movie to climb everest, and he's letting his team get the work done whilst he's there. It's called making some fucking priorities, this isn't the first time I've heard shit about Rockets personal life getting in the way of development. It's totally unprofessional, and you can bury your head up your ass all you like about it, but if it looks like shit, smells like shit, then its probably going to be shit. This is compounded by the fact theres nothing really stopping them pushing a release through, since were basically going to be paying for an active beta again and by no means a finish product when it gets fucking released in the first place... so whats the problem? review scores? -

Happily be the moaning guy for y'all!!!! Yes but the thing is, it's going to be released incomplete anyway right? That's what we're being told - that it's going to be a minecraft kind of deal with huge updates being rolled in over time... And he's going on holiday before he's getting the job done? Real. You show me the Professional developer that goes on holiday in the middle/end of game development. Secondly, just fucking release it already, since you're telling us when you release the game you'll still be adding content to it, why not release it as it is before sodding off to everest. Sorry but this game has been delayed and delayed, with games that have this ammount of delay theres usual an equivelent ammount of epic fail associated. Examples? Duke Nukem forever etc! -
I think there needs to be a drastic overhaul on the zombie/zed/walker type. I don't remember seeing female zombies - where are they? are we on some strange planet where only men live there? I don't remember seeing children zombies - and if you want to be super immersive and realistic and scientific you should better have children zombies, yeah it's shocking, but you shot a kid in the face in TellTales walking dead. So it's not really that controversial. Different types of mobility dependant on zed type ; for example; a fatty zed should have a reduced move speed over say, a well built black man zed, same goes for children zeds. tldr: zed models need to have a more of an accurate reflection of the diversity of real world body types/ sizes and ages.

Hero skin, bandit skin, and imposed moral compass feature coming into a game that's supposed to simulate a lawless sand boxed zombie apocalypse. Counter intuitive and immersion breaking. Also kind of hand holdy -
By hardware intensive he actually means poorly optimised shit. This is the only game out there where if I increase my settings to high I get more frames. That shit better not be in the standalone version.

In the standalone or mod is it possible to make it so that you come up on the map irrespective of what kind of difficulty mode your using? Considering your guy is proficient in car repair, is a crack shot (if your me), can administer a lot of medicine etc I don't think being adept at cartography is that much of an ask xD Or maybe it only comes up after you acquire a map and a compass? Or does it do that already and I'm just slow. -

In all honesty I would prefer no map at all and the DayZdb map did spoil a lot of the explorational experience a little bit, i didn't use one at all on Namalsk. But maybe instead of a huge blue blip maybe just a pencil marking or perhaps there can be certain points in a town entrance you can use to orientate yourself. -

Yes but the fact remains orientation is piss easy with the use of third party maps, the idea is to just eliminate the need to constantly alt tab? A lot of retards chipping in with a meaningless 2cents that am mount to dik all really, it just streamlines the experience without the need to alt tab? As I'd rather use the game map to orientate than the dayzdb map. -

Yeah but the point is, no one can really get lost in Cherno anymore, especially considering the dayZDB map anyway!!! And also, I think I must of been far too tired/drunk/high last night cos I got home and started playing some, by the time my play session was finished I figured out I'd spent about 2 hours running in a huge circle :/ "this cant be riight... omfg gg" -

Yeah my bad for thinking real update blogs and the like would be incorporated into the dayz website, better use a tumblr instead. And the frame rates will be a deal breaker for a lot of players just sayin

Two things I want to know. 1. When the fuck is it coming out? A pre december release was promised, that's fine you had to delay it, I feel like the PR team is non existant? 2. Secondly I'm not fucking touching this game as a standalone untill specs have been released, the only promise about the game I give a fuck about is reduced FPS stuttering and an overall performance increase, and by that I don't want to hear "oh yeah it'll run better" but a bench marking or at least a percentage given on FPS and Performance in contrast to the mod. tldr: I will not touch the standalone until the promise of fixing a poorly optimised engine is on the table. You cannot release a relatively indie title and ask for a god king PC to run it.

Don't pretend otherwise with fanboyish. I'm moving around in the cherno apartment blocks, then one scream from a zed outside later, the flat i'm in becomes completely infested with zeds, that aggro made zero sense. But it's ok i can just prone and they can walk all over my body without finding me? It's immersion breaking, cut it out, mod it out, do whatever the fuck you need to do to change it.
