So - I made it to Stary...apart from getting glitched/lagged out so a zombie took 4 point blank shotgun hits to die and insta-broke my leg before it dropped. Ridiculous but it is a alpha so I forgive it. Desperate for a morphine shot - I don't have anything to really trade in all honesty, so all I can say is i'll leave Stary and you can have the army tent loot if you're heading that way. PM me for server details and stuff. Much appreciated!

Theres probably not a fix but i'm just curious - can run everything at full and get a solid 60+ fps, even in cities. 30 solid with fraps. some servers though i barely get over 15 and notice it as soon as the place name appears as you spawn. anyone else? bit annoying when i've spent 30 minutes stuck on various loading screens and ''ending process'' through task manager to finally get in a server at 10-15 fps!

I've had a couple of experiences where i should have just shot on sight. The worse was being in electro firestation and hearing a dude run then fall off the roof. I strafed out - saw him fucked up - and stafed back inside. Asked if he was friendly and he said yeah. So he spams his enfield at some zombies and rolls inside the firestation as i finish the remaining zombies. Low on blood myself i offer to get morphine in exchange for a transfusion. So off i go...hospital is neatly empty so i spend about 10 minutes searching and finally get some. Heard one or shots since but all quiet. I hit the main road by the hospital so facing the tower and im one shotted - dead. Now it could have been for a number of reasons - trolling, thinking i was someone else, hoping to rob me, someone else could have shot. Fact is i could have wasted him and been out of electro in 2 minutes.

Feel like I've been travelling in the middle of nowhere for the past hour. Probably double back'd on myself successfully. I'm currently in a ruined/damaged church, in a whole town that is empty shells/damaged buildings. Not sure if these ruins are THAT common so I'm not sure if it narrows it down. Thought I could hear the coast a while back though - I'll continue on for a little and see if I come across any towns to try get my bearings.

Holy shit, how did I even get there? I know I'm close to Electro cuz I'm right at that mini dam now just N.E of electro w/ the little lake and just passed a sign. But jeeeez, I started from just outside Electro at this same spot when I fired the game up earlier today! I thought it was actually in the North East haha - I would LOVE to see the route I took! I <3 day-z but miss my GPS. Don't think it's wise to go to Electro with 1 CZ mag and no ammo for my side arm with hardly any supplies and 6000 blood on a nearly full server at night. Accident waiting to happen. Where's quiet(er)? I really want a suppressed weapon and need to find some cows cuz I've got matches/knife and some wood so i'm set. Might hit up the fire station just on the outskirts of Electro.

Found a town called Mornnebka. One of the N's is backwards and the other is like a dodgy upside down U haha. I love the authentic Russian/Baltic placenames. Doesn't look much of a town though - generic couple of un enterable buildings by the looks of it. Think it wasn't the coast I heard but wind - think i'm well above sea level. All the Electric lines are almost slanted upside down V shapes if that helps too.

Being a noob with a bit of background knowledge i pretty much decided to avoid cherno on my first few lives. Eventually i spawned between cherno and electro and following the clouds i decided i had nothing to lose so off i went. I hit cherno in the dark, and as i wasn't planning on living i decided to go for broke and sprint in and smash n grab. I hit the hospital, store, fire station and a few other buildings aggro 'ing nearly every zombie cherno had to offer and finishing the ones off who got too close with a enfield i found. I looted a alice pack and food/soda from the store, gps and a m9 with 3 clips from the fire station, 3 more enfield mags, some medical supplies from the hospital and a watch/matches/knife and compass from the other buildings with some extra bits and pieces. I sprinted out of cherno with a few.zombie chasers which o lead up a hill and headshot, then swiftly move north through sniper hotspots unscathed. Did i just get lucky?

I was actually about to post the same topic - luckily I backed out to check if anyone had. But yeah, I agree. We need a GTA SA Bigfoot/Leatherface/Area 51 - or legendary animals like on Red Dead Redemption. Or the ''lost'' island on Just Cause 2 where the weather would turn rough and planes would get tesla coil'd out of the sky. Urban Legends are awesome and many hours extra gameplay could come from peoples imagination through rumors, little in game hints and ''sightings''. But actually legit. Hell as a kid I spent hours with a sniper rifle in ''Back O Beyond'' in GTA SA cuz of the car that randomly roll'd down a hill and the bigfoot rumors! Forums buzz'd with possible news and sightings back in the day. UFO's/random flying jets or super rare weapons. Treasure maps that mark loot spawns or ''last known sightings'' of stuff. Mini easter eggs, you name it. I could be here all day!

So frustrating! I can't even go to Cherno anymore because unless I look in the same direction through the whole city all I see is huge rectangle blocks + warped lines completely obscuring my view to the point it's all I can see. No wonder why it's a ghost town!

I'm done with playing like it's a survival sim after only 3 days. In advance tl;dr ''why not kill on sight when everyone else does'' I spent the first couple just grasping the basics - few stupid deaths and eventually got to that point I felt ''better''. Not good, but better. So I gathered a ton of supplies over a 2 day period (about 3 hours gameplay per day) I had a Enfield with 6 mags, g17 with 4, GPS, matches, knife and everything - pretty kitted out with a full ALICE pack I found in Cherno supermarket with food/soda, medical supplies and a few extra bits. So I decide to head north - pretty easygoing with my GPS mini-map, I looted a few small towns along the way to keep my food/soda up and quickly realize by the co-ordinates that I'm actually east of the NW airfield (there we go) Seriously suprised as I expected it to be a huge trek and I started from Cherno so while I was up there I figured I'd check it out. I swang by a town just south - forget the name but theres huge amounts of farmland there. Being low-ish on blood after a few zombie scrapes I hang around for what felt like a hour to find a animal to cook before hitting the NW airfield. (seriously need to sort that shit out - I know ''survival is easier'' in teams with blood packs but I didn't see so much as a rabbit for a HOUR in FARMLAND). Eventually I spot a goat a couple hundred meters off - Enfield pretty much alerted every single zombie in a 15 mile radius. Spotting a long barn half a mile off (my ears still ring from that zombie sound behind me for 2 minutes) I figured I'd lead them in to take advantage of A.I and pick them off. So I mop them up, loot them for some beans/soda and figure i'd go back to hunting completely minding my own buisness. No sooner do I leave the barn silenced shots fly past me - determined not to die I call ''friendly'' and type some messages, guy couldn't have been more than 50m off. More shots. Figuring I need to bail I use the barn for cover and dash for a treeline and make my way along it. After 30 seconds I decide to just hit prone and survey the area with my binoculars. As soon as the animation starts - pew pew pew, you are dead. So from now on, I'll let myself die till I get Cherno spawn, loot it - hit stary and deer stands straight away for some guns and camp the area around the NW killing everyone I see.

Haha - pretty neg attitude though. You can apply the same rule to anything, anygame. In all honesty I can't QQ about it because thats probably exactly what i'd end up doing once I get some good kit and a comfy ass camping spot. It's more about the experience than the end result. Heres a example again forcing me to banditry - I'm looting the firestation in Electro, find a m4 and a 24 slot coyote pack after spawning 20 minutes beforehand finding 2 dudes dead - one with a full Czech backpack! This is after my QQ story so can't believe my luck. As I made my way downstairs I hear a dude run, then a leg break sound. I peak out the front door and see him. ADS but decide against it - then run inside and say friendly. He says ''me too'', and I offer to take a trip to the hospital for morphine in exchange for a blood transfusion. He crawls in and I waste the zombies following him after spamming his Enfield. So off I go - find the hospital is empty but have a blood bag and find some morphine after 5 minutes. I'm extremely low on blood at this point so being extra careful. I approach the station from the East in full view of the tower and boom - one shotted. Frustrating? Sure. But looking back it's only in DayZ that shit will happen. He'd broken his leg and aggro'd so many zombies I doubt he'd have made it either! From now on I see why it's a shoot first game. I could have wasted him easily as he was knocked out, looted and got out of Electro to live another day. Now i've respawned in Krutoy Cap and am currently sat in the water to kill myself for a better spawn. So far it's been 15 minutes and i've only lost 2000 blood. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuu.

Just spawned in Electro, in that first large factory I found 2 dead survivors - one with a full Czech backback. Awesome luck - gonna loot Electro and head north!

Any good locations for picking up higher tier weapons on the way up north? I literally have Enfields, Winchesters, Makarovs or G17 is all I seem to find! A nice M24 or something silenced would be awesome. I'm about to gear up and go for round two haha.

There was 34/40 when i joined the server and spent about 25 minutes finding my way around zig zagging through stores and buildings at full sprint too! I wasnt even cautious when looting once i found the enfield , i just ran around till i found a building and headshotted the zombies who followed me inside! In 3 days the only human activity ive seen is a car driving past me at krutoy cap as i s pawned and gunshots in the distance in electro which i never found the source of. Maybe everyone is just camping the airfield or making the way there. Edit : also saw a dead guy who just spawned in some random town - that's it.

Luckiest - went from 2000 blood in pitch black, thunder and rain stuck in a barn with beans and 2 shots in my shottie to finding a ghillie suit, cooked meat, binoculars, enfield with tons of ammo, and 4 sodas and 2 beans in my first half hour of day z. Unluckiest - travelled for 45 mins from that point and ended up back at the barn i started in. Complete fucking circle!

don't get a laptop - you'll get 4 times the amount if you build your own desktop - trust me.

First one is simple - I've been on about 15 different servers now and not one has anybody talking in the chat window on the left? So when/if I run into somebody I don't feel confident in texting ''friendly'' when I havent yet seen anybody talk - just notifications of people dying. Is it a server issue my side or is everyone just quiet? Probably just a setting maybe? Global/Direct options don't change anything... Secondly, any ideas on the config.bin/weaponscfg error? I don't get it often but was just wondering if it actually ment anything because I just ''okay'd'' it and got on the server.. And thirdly, are the connection issues just because it's a alpha or something my end? My internet will be working flawlessly yet I'll continuously get disconnected no matter what server I go in even during joining i'll get the broken red chain.. And lastly, what are the ideal settings for DayZ graphics wise? Not for asthetics but for gameplay...like turning off post processing, lowering texture detail so players stand out more or something. I can run ''most'' games on Ultra (radeon 7850/i5 760 - beast overclocking combo) for a benchmark but i'm not bothered about looks - just enhancing the gameplay. Thanks guys! It's good to be a noob at a game again!

I literally don't know where I am - scouting a town with what looks like a huge white church at one end with a large open space behind it. Can you shoot zombies from range without alerting them? I'd take a few down but have a feeling they'd all just run at me from 400 ft away EDIT : I died. A zombie randomly got aggro'd and him and his buddy ran at me from about 100ft away crouch running. Great. And oh, I spawned in Electro. Fun times.

Any advice on finding cooked meat for blood? I'm now on 1100, passing out every 2 minutes. Every single place I find insta spawns like 15 zombies on top of me - even if it's a 3 building farm. Can't risk being hit...

Haha same, already. Somehow I made it out - Ended up in this military looking place. - 3 big factories surrounded by a fence that had a small gate with a archway over the top like ''KOA EOX'' or something - found 3 pepsis, a ghillie suit!!!, binoculars, a winchester and a ton of ammo and some ammo belts of LMGS and some other bits and pieces. Followed the lines out and came to a little town, currently looting for meat - I have 1300 blood and keep passing out but don't wanna lose this kit! Argh.

Edit, I just found a fucking ghillie suit. Will trade for halp haha. Edit x 2 : Found Pepsi and some Binoculars. Seem to be at a army base? Had a little gate that said KAO AOX on a arch above it or something? in the middle of nowhere though.

I'm in exactly the same position. Pitch black, 2000 blood so I can't see anything - heavy rain, thunder and lightening slowly dying of thirst and I keep blacking out. All I have is a double barrel, 2 shells and beans. I also have no idea where I am haha..

I'm currently in the middle of nowhere by myself with 2000 blood, pitch black with heavy ass rain, thunder and lightening and zombie noises all around me + I have 2 shells for my Double Barrel left and some beans when I need water. Fuuuuuuuuuu. I literally cannot see 1 ft in front of me but it's hands down a amazing experience for a alpha...I kinda want to suck forever, games lose their touch once you get the best kit! EDIT : Made it to a barn using the lightening + quick burst of my flashlight to navigate. I'm now stuck in a pitch black corner slowly dying. Hahah.
