  1. Agreed, however I think some of these suggestions are gonna bite people in the ass come the stand alone release. It's not the sims, it's not minecraft, and it's certainly not real life. it's nice to ponder standalone life in a forest using only a machete and crossbow/blow gun with poison darts with a likkle tent to live off the land but for 90% of people, IMO of course, that's gonna get insanely boring quick and people want the WHOLE game based around this? especially for people with lives and a limited time frame to play. ''Herp derp there shouldnt be any military weapons as the characters aren't in the S.A.S'' or ''we shouldn't be able to fix vehicles that easy without mechanical knowledge''. really? hell, one dude was complaining the old bicycle is too quick! I think these people just need to go camping IRL tbh. Judging from the thread comments i'm in the minority. However if I'm in a zombie apocolypse with crashed helis, army bases or outposts set up to try control it I know exactly where I'm heading for gear. Also, to the guy above saying guns should be the end game and melee more common place, can you imagine the balance issues there?

    Something to be aware of

This explains why on a majority of private hives I've been on the admins will always somehow ''find'' all the vehicles and always be geared up. My squad always knew they had some form of power, however this has opened our eyes to exactly what they can do.. I actually would be all for these tools if it forced the admins to take a back-seat, which I understand is completely unfair as they're paying for the server, however it's far to much power for one player to have if they're actively playing the game - I see why there's always admin ass kissers in every private hive now! You can speak about morals, ''I only use it to catch hackers'', blah blah however we all know it's human nature over half the admins are abusing it, more than that in my experience!

It's OK To Not to Love PVP

Before I start, I just wanna clarify that I've never geared up and gone down south purposely for PvP and can honestly say the only time I camp around Electro/Cherno is to countersnipe or gear up quickly. I also want to add I have a conscience and haven't betrayed someone and always feel some guilt for shooting on sight so I'm not flat out a bandit. My only argument with people who are against PvP and look down on banditry is realistically what else do you have to do? You can't tell me killing infinite spawning zeds is particularly fun, there's no reward in doing that anyway. Vehicles as a end game? I've been there, spent 3 hours searching for a wheel for example - boring. I've played on the 3-5 people max private hives who all know eachother, geared up with enough guns to start a small war to the point me and my buddy were ditching good gear because it was completely pointless hording anymore and...it's boring. I hopped on a 30+ pop at all times server, grabbed a akm and had a blast with no gear at all with plenty of PvP/player interaction. If everyone was friendly, there would be no tension at all in the game. It makes me laugh when people cry about there being no friendlies in game and being killed because they have good loot/ghillie which is only useful against players. Otherwise we'd all grab a common gun, like a Enfield, matches/hatchet/knife and a water bottle and just walk around the map. I've played on a few servers with medics/people giving taxi rides, role playing or just trolling people and I can understand that's fun but if there wasn't PvP in the game no other playstyles would exist IMO. PvP makes day-z what it is imo. And I'm aware i'm in the minority but I pray the standalone remains a hostile/PvP environment and isn't just spent grinding for various meds/supplies for days on end focused on PvE.
  4. Am i in the minority thinking 90% of these suggestions would make the game tedious and boring? And no, ive never sat outside electro with a 50 cal however pvp and player interaction is the only excitement or end-game, grinding for 4 hours a day just to find batteries sounds lame. Inb4 just play arma 3, cant wait.

  6. i cant help but these extreme realism changes people want would be game breaking. how would having 3 bullets in a low tier rifle running around for hours starving to death be remotely fun? especially for people with lives and other commitments....it would become tedious. just my opinion...i think its wishful thinking but hindsight will be a bitch

  8. Hilarious, this is the same Bill that came onto the hatchet reloaded server and whos buddy got global banned within 2 days of joining and then announced he was ''leaving'' the server himself 5 minutes after before he got admin banned and/or global banned as everyones shit kept going missing! Grow up, faggot. Because you suck at the game it doesn't mean you need to troll and ruin it for everybody else playing legit. Black Ops 2 just came out, go play that.
  9. Am I the only one in support of higher tier weapons? I would find people running around with hatchets, melee weapons and old school hunting rifles that take in game hours to maintain boring. I'm all for realism and agree ghillied up, thermal scopes and 50 cals behind every corner isn't realistic however there's a balance between being realistic/grinding/FUN. If there wasn't duping/scripting in I think with a few tweaks the balance would be fine. I don't have 12 hours a day to grind finding weapons in game. I hope and pray the standalone doesn't favour tedious survival over fun. Just like to add i've never gone back south to ''sit and snipe newspawns'', just feel it would upset the balance if guns were rare. Even reading this thread i'm scared people want things that sound good ''in theory'' but won't be FUN. Bikes should go @ 10mph for realism? Jesus. This isn't The Sims.
  10. yeah it's dead easy :) all are welcome, everyone is mature and easy going and some kind sirs will even give you a lift in the medi heli if you make your way to the little medical centre which has food/drink and stuff :)

    good private hive

I would recommend http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/105894-hatchet-reloaded-new-uk-private-hivev174-6-choppers-60-vehicles-custom-content-vehicles-private-teamspeak-server no hackers, and the one time someone was obviously using a map hack got banned, then global banned, along with his friend and we got gear rolled back. admins are awesome, and after all the hives i've been on there's no ''admin arrogance'' or ''admin abuse'' going on, just some guys trying to keep everything fair. cherno/electro is a safe zone, along with a custom medi centre by the lighthouse @ cap golova with guys who are prepared to give you lifts and real ''medi'' attention (they love it haha)
  12. edit : we found it @ kras, sweet :) managed to repair the old shitty russian heli...it's so quick :o makes the little bird and huey look slow
  13. Exactly..it's a well rounded server tbh. plenty mature players though, no electro kiddies sniping people. could do with some more squads on to upset the balance :D
  14. server is still awesome guys :) apart from the map hackers who got dealt with, cough naming no names of people! admins are great, just needs some more mature players..best server i played on yet

    Return to DayZ worth it?

i say come back 100%, if only to get you in the mood for the standalone and back in the swing of things! Also, play private hive. I used to only play public and didnt 'get' private hives at all, but i havent looked back. First positive is on the right servers, passworded and whitelisted with good admins, hacking is 99.9% gone. Finding vehicles and storing them along with camps becomes a must and actually stays put. Also, with side chat and a tighter community, there becomes more point to the game.
  16. Hopefully the server is back up soon :) Can't wait to jump back in and try get the little bird :D
  17. You could use a match. Thats what I use for ''auto run'' lol, jamming a match between the A/S key :D

I love how this game makes you feel

I agree. This is why I love this game and haven't touched much else since I first started playing in June. You can go from scoping in and stalking a dude innocently looting knowing you can ''end'' his life in a second to being on 1000 blood, pitch black night in a storm with no food/drink and zombies all around. My first ''life'' I remember how desperate it was, trying to head north only to spend 30 minutes looping in a full circle back to where I started. No food/drink, night time, severely low blood passing out stuck in the corner of a barn...since then, i've had so many moments and emotions in this game I wouldn't have felt elsewhere. fear, happiness, rage, feeling tense, remorse... Rocket has my beans.
  19. For a game that is allegedly out before X-mas we've essentially had no news about it. We've had what...a few screenshots of environments, and a couple of posts where Rocket has explained the direction/how the standalone will work. I'm not moaning, on the contrary i'd rather they delayed it somewhat to do the best job they can. Even for a alpha release we've not really heard anything.... Am I the only one who feels this way? I can't really find anybody else questioning this so I thought i'd make a thread...can anyone calm my nerves haha. It just feels like they're miles behind even to put out a alpha yet are going for some kind of release this year? Hell, I've heard the end of November thrown around, even early in December. That's 2-4 weeks. Look at War-Z, i'm worried. Can't see it tbh.

    Standalone - worried?

I dunno, I wouldn't view it as a failure and get all QQ about it, if delaying the standalone is the right thing to do development wise I hope they will rather than pushing it out before x-mas. It just seems crazy that it's still nailed on for a Late November/December release when all we've had is a dozen screenshots and a couple of P.R gigs that Rocket was @. Apart from that, nothing at all. I know it'll come out as a Alpha, and be ''developed'' as it goes along, but even so..
