I know a screenshot would probably be easier but I already had this typed out from a message so figured I'd copy/paste - my drivers are the 13.4, could roll back or download the new 13.6 beta drivers? AA Mode - use app settings AA Samples - use app settings Filter - standard AA Method - multisampling Morphological filtering - off Texture Filtering Anisotropic Filtering Mo (mode i think) - use app settings Anistropic filtering level - use app settings texture filtering quality - standard surface format optimization - on Frame Rate Control Wait for vertical refresh - off, unless app specifies (it's off in game) OpenGL Triple Buffering - on Tessellation Tessellation mode - amd optimized Maximum Tessellation L..(level?) - amd optmized. And here's some misc settings, like my monitor display settings etc - Screen Refresh - 60 Hertz, True Colour 32bit, DXDIAG Display Mode - 1920x1080 (32bit) (60hz) DirectDraw Acceleration - Enabled Direct 3d Acceration - Enabled AGP Texture Acceleration - Enabled

bump. i don't care, my head hurts (again)

Finally, some progress maybe :) I'm pretty computer literate but not sure about ''master set''. My OS is Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit, RAM is Corsair Vengeance 2 x 4gb 1600, PCI Express slot settings are just the default, and I've got a small OC through the CCC on the card - temps are all more than fine. If I underclock or go w/ the stock settings through CCC it makes no difference. Thanks!.

I feel like I'm writing a profile for match.com or myspace back in 2007 lol. tl;dr version - Looking for a serious relationsh - I mean ..uh,teammates/squad. I'm 24, from UK - from down south London way originally but living in the North East for the past 5 years. Played DayZ mod since June last year, would consider myself above average and usually come out on top when it comes to PVP and hold my own as a lonewolf. Good vehicle driver and decent in heli's. Played Vanilla, Origins, DayZero and Broken Point (try to avoid BP cuz of all the issues it has). ATM playing Origins as DayZero is preferred but too squad orientated even for the better lone wolves (the standard of PvP and squad play on there is ridiculously good - approaching Stary/NWAF solo can be suicide). I'm not looking to build anything on Origins however, just general banditry. Half the reason my original squad disbanded somewhat is losing our shit on Origins every 2 weeks haha. I would consider myself a neutral player generally - I go out my way to help people on occasions and sometimes hesitate to KoS and will never shoot a unarmed player. I met everyone I squadded with in game through helping them/them helping me and us teaming up so I'm not a straight hero or bandit. Record my gameplay quite a bit and would stream if my 0.8 upload could handle it and I'd put effort into a channel if I had some decent squad play behind me - at the moment I just have a shit ton of clips that I just keep deleting and recording over lol. So I'd be happy to team up with some serious players who actually don't mind taking their time and playing tactically, especially hotspot areas (i wont miss the random enfield spam or people deciding to run into the middle of the NWAF for no reason from ). Also don't mind farming/repairing vehicles if needs be - I get bored of running around Cherno/Electro playing TDM. Regarding my old squad the 2 mature guys have moved on to other games, 1 can barely run the game so we spend more time troubleshooting/looking for FPS tips, 1 is quite immature and 1 gets bored too easily and decides to spam their Enfield in the middle of Stary for no reason at all haha. So I'm branching out and making new friends <3. Usually on most nights about 630/7pm GMT > 11/midnight GMT - between working/catering to my girlfriend (aka under the thumb) and studying for my accountancy quals. On weekends if I'm free it's not uncommon for me to totally geek out and do a huge session, especially as my sleep schedule is fucked on weekends (it's like 4am here now, debating on hopping back into a server for a little even though i'm up at 10am and I work a 9-5 during the week) Have a mic + Skype, usually use my mic but in a effort to not be totally ignorant to my GF and lock myself away I don't use it 24/7. pm me on here or just add me on Skype - xstarblazer1

I've just watched some gameplay I recorded on wasteland takistan as I haven't played on it for months, and I don't notice it as much. Looks a lot more ''solid'' in general. I still got a occasional pop when I run around a corner and look into the distance at a town 300m+ away, but once it's ''popped'' it's fine - on Taviana/Chernarus (only other 2 maps i've played) I can literally get this blur/pop up from 50m away that continuously changes untill I'm like <10m away from it. Causes as much of a headache as my first problem, especially in a forest if I'm keeping my eyes out for people and nearly all the trees/grass/vegetation changes (swaps, like you said) and pops up all over. Reading on the B.I forums apparently a lot of people had/have issues with ARMA/ATI and 8gb of RAM specifically, but as these posts are 3 4 years old I believe patches may have helped..A ton of people were getting better performance, less LOD popping by forcing 4gb RAM on msconfig or pulling 4gb out physically. May be worth a try? I've changed my maxVram and maxmem to use all 2gb of my 7850 vRAM and 8gb of my RAM (questionable if this works) but I believe i'd already changed those parameters when I took the pictures so I'm pretty sure that didn't work. I'll run a defragmenter on my steam HDD, it says that drive is 1% defragmented but it's worth a try. And I actually have RAMDISK which worked originally but I had a ton of errors with it not starting properly. As for my first problem, i'm clueless. Can't find too much information on it - every post on tearing seems to be relating to the static dead solider models that caused those INSANE graphic glitches...those were the days :D
-
Sure - this is how I have it a majority of the time when I'm not chopping and changing settings. It doesn't help that I'm using a Arma free/OA - could that really make a difference? Maybe in physical texture quality (doesn't look drastically different apart from inside vehicles/buildings though). I've played w/ launch parameters too - set up to my knowledge correctly (from the B.I forums) - maxmem, maxVram and the processor core parameter (forget what it was). Hasn't really made any difference. Also every now and again I almost get a ''wave'' go vertically up my screen. It's hard to describe, almost like a transparent single wave that travels across the screen but not long enough to really notice - just a second. I noticed it this time when I went from crouched to standing. I've noticed if I'm trying to read a sign or look at loot on the floor as I'm running past - focusing on anything small really as I move, it all appears to ''blur together'' and tear. Best way I can describe it. Not like post processing effects however. I thought I was crazy till a buddy of mine mentioned he gets a similar issue but neither of us could quite pinpoint exactly what it was to explain it. Here's a couple examples of my 2nd problem that I get, much easier to capture than my main issue unless I uploaded a video and even then as it's not 100% true quality so it's hard. I've noticed the weird tear/blur/headache inducing effect on some streams I think when people move through buildings, so idk. Example of the blur. Happens on any map, not just Taviana. I can get whole blocks like this, literally so blurry the graphics may have come from Wolfenstein 3d back in the day, then I can get closer and they go sharp like the ones next to it on the picture. Then back to blurry from 20m away, then sharp. The picture quality is probably not great as it's from a 10 sec clip I then print screened - so not ''true to game'', but it's enough to see. Example of pop ups. Notice how the first pic the whole arrangement of the windows is different. Literally a second between the pictures, if that. I ran on the first pic, then came to a rest for the second. Both these pictures were 2 seconds after the blur one - so all in the space of 10 seconds of movement. Again, I get this on Chernarus too. Sometimes i'll get roof's of sheds etc flickering from 10m away, that physically change textures completely as I move. Can kinda understand it from 800m scoped in though.

Sup? So wayyy back when I first bought ARMA 2 CO I picked it up off a Russian site because it was DRASTICALLY cheaper (inb4 cd key b.s, it is a retail copy). Now, I managed to change my language and its worked since Early June on vanilla dayz and origins (so nearly a year..), but everytime I start breaking point it's still in Russian despite using a language changer tool. Help?

Solved. Haha. Not sure how to delete topics.

Horizontal line, moving vertically, only while running (refresh rate issue?)
Rifle Eyez replied to deebz1234's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Ah, I was hoping you'd say you had VGA too so I could point you to a ton of threads on it. I will have to check about the edges to be 100%. I know when I have stuff like maps open or I alt tab out and get the ''Recieving'' screen I really notice the lines and I think, 90% sure, that I get the same blurred edges. Almost like a transparent layer has been overlayed on the edges and blurs it. It's super hard to explain the problem though. It's not strictly like a huge tear that's REAL obvious but it's like lots of little, mini tears in the distance as I move the mouse. It's like the textures I'm looking at aren't,,,solid? Idk. I've tried everything, including editing the cfg file and in game graphics settings in every possible combination.. Just got back from the office and my DVI>DVI cable has arrived so I'm gonna smoke somethin', log on a sever and see if it's made a difference :) -
''waves'' type screen tearing when moving mouse.
Rifle Eyez posted a topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
sup? it's hard to describe my problem, but when i'm free looking or moving at all I get almost a ''wave'' or ''ripple'' kinda screen tear that makes everything temporarily ''blurry'' (not post proc, got that + AA + PXAA or whatever disabled). Say i'm running alongside somebody, i'll notice it then if I freelook at them, or if i'm scanning a town or something. if i'm stationary, it's fine, but the more i'm noticing it the more of a headache it's causing (almost literally). if i'm running past loot say i'll often have to stop for the ''wave'' to settle to see exactly what it is. also suffer from flickering at the edges of textures too. together, it makes it incredibly hard to focus on something while moving, I've heard after googlin' from multiple sources VGA with a DVI adaptor for my card (7850) can cause this ''wave'' or ''ripple'' type effect, so i've ordered a straight DVI > DVI cable but i'm wondering if anyone has had the same problem and/or remedied it. thanks :) -

hijacking - just posted the same complaint myself. had it since day1 and now paying attention to it too much. it's almost like everything ''blurs'' together when i try focus on something while moving or freelooking - forests/buildings/players, regardless. it's exactly like a wave/ripple which settles once i'm stationary a sec. not hugely obvious, but in a game like dayz where you can spot a pixel from 1000m away it starts literally giving me headaches.combined with the flickering it can be a nightmare. also, out of curiosity are you using VGA to connect to your tv/monitor? I've heard that can cause it and using DVI > VGA adaptor like I do (my card 7850 has no vga slot but i use a vga cable with adaptor) so i've ordered a pure DVI > DVI cable. echoing you the problem doesn't occur on bf3, skyrim, fifa 13, sleeping dogs etc, although I may not notice it because they're different environments e.g not huge forests and plains. -
It's funny, people back in summer were saying ''I'd wait for the standalone...'' whenever this question came up. Buy Arma 2.

Is there any decent/whitelisted origins servers yet?
Rifle Eyez posted a topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Sup. as title...looking for a UK/EU server. Every origins server we've settled and started a house/camp on has ended up with blatant admin abuse, bandit/hero padding to build hero/bandit houses with no consequences (on one server the same three people killed one guy about 30 times in half hour - as quick as he could spawn in and run to them). then finally the blatant map hacking of a ghillied squad flying a Huey (so stereotypical...) right on top of us in the middle of nowhere and getting out running straight at us. Due to the nature of origins and how time consuming gathering building materials is etc its a huge problem and one I've always predicted happening in the standalone with more grinding/endgame. So any suggestions is more than welcome :) -
Is there any decent/whitelisted origins servers yet?
Rifle Eyez replied to Rifle Eyez's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I figured the files hadn't been released yet. The latest server me and a buddy had grinded for 2 foundations of houses, 2 vehicles, both heroes despite a couple of murders. Headed out to grab some medi and food supplies and on this server side chat is disabled. Randomly, one of the guys padding bandit kills murdering the same guy over and over gets killed by a random player and he uses ADMIN chat (red text) to call the player a "faggot" and that "hes fucking done for now". 30 seconds later the random was killed and me and my buddy in game looked at eachother like "great". -
Sup. Pretty self explanatory, me and 3 other experienced players are looking for a whitelist or passworded server to join, UK preferably but EU too. Cherno map, not too fussed about loot tables/features however a few changes from vanilla would be welcome (more vehicles, but not like 150 tanks roaming around). 10+ players desired, we've geared up on so many hives that get like 7 people max and just us on a night with nobody else online - so a few players is a must. Thanks :)

I agree with you, but then the issue lies with balance. I hope if high end weapons are removed then the civilian weapons are just as common. If all firearms are made rare to the point melee becomes 50% of PvP (i'm speculating here) then the old adage ''in the kingdom of the blind, the one eyed man is king'' comes into play. At least in the mod you can quickly find a enfield/winchester, hell even a double barreled shotgun or m1911 in one loot run through a city to defend yourself. Imagine a group moving along the coast with automatics while the best you can find is a melee weapon..Hence why removing high end gear is a thankless task if you cannot find a basic firearm yourself. I'd rather the tiers be similar to the mod than high end removed and melee promoted. A ak 47 is pretty high end when you're facing 3 guys with baseball bats from 50+m away. I must admit though, in the....nearly 9 months i've played day-z, believe it or not I've been one shotted along the coast (balota/electro/cherno) only a handful of times maximum. What they should do is make ammo more rare to the point you actually have to ration high end ammo. Currently in the mod with all the admin abuse, duping and scripting down the lines pretty much every as50 camper ALWAYS has 5/6 5rnd nato mags, and a m4 cco sd in their bag with 5 mags. In the S.A this should be sorted. Additionally, make sniping from 500m+ much more difficult, then at least if you do get nailed it's more ''sweet shot'' than ''pull out duped rangefinders, press page up, point, click''. I do enjoy the aspect somewhat of ''if i run across that field, there's every chance some dude is camping with a 50 cal'', it added so much suspense sat in a bush debating on just running and zig zagging. However the TDM'ing around cities is understandably not the direction the S.A should go.. Although maybe the mod has in fact warped my mind in some respects. I do have more fun with lower end gear, but having home servers with camps and access to high end gear on demand maybe has spoiled me and come the S.A I will realise the as50 bashers were right all along. Who knows?
-
Fact is I fear KoS will be even worse on the S.A. Currently many just do it for fun, which is understandable if not a little bit predictable. (i always think ''another camper on Dobryy, sigh, good job bro'') but when medicines/clothes/rarer weapons/ammo/loot is involved? I consider myself a neutral, i've looked for conflict and opened fire on players who I've had the drop on, but also given new spawns my pistol/supplies but I guarantee 100% I will KoS even more in the S.A. Imagine being sick and needing medicine, running low on ammo/food, or extra clothes, or even rarer unique car parts for yourself + friends...at least in the mod killing for these things is never a REAL motive as they're all easy enough to acquire but with limited and rarer loot in the S.A? It's gonna be so much worse. On the flip side if you have these items yourself you're more likely to KoS simply to avoid any potential for being killed yourself. If I've just spent a hour or 4 searching high and low for fuel, or for a medicine for myself or a friend, food, or even hit a motherlode of ammo and see a dude I don't know coming, he's getting dropped. On the mod it's less risky simply because it's never too difficult to brush yourself off and gear up again. Like I said before I'm not a straight bandit but I find PvP the most interesting thing in the game and will in the S.A, even if they made superhuman zombies the human element is more exciting and I think PvP should remain a playstyle and not be gimped. Sure, I don't agree with picking up a enfield/winchester from the first house you enter just to TDM in Electro, but beyond that I'm all for day-z being half survival, half PvP based - it's what makes the game exciting imo. I enjoy the combat aspect of the game, and inb4 ''play arma/wasteland then'', it's a completely different scenario.
-
The problem is gonna be balance. Sure, it's gonna be awesome fun (sarcasm) running around with melee weapons, but that is just gonna make firearms completely overpowered, especially if you come up against a semi organised group who all have guns themselves. Can you imagine groups mowing people down around the south who can't find a gun between them? I fancy my chances with the Dobryy/Cherno campers 100% over that. At least defending yourself is easier if you have as much chance of finding a firearm as a clan/buddies who are constantly looting everything. I play 70% lonewolf and 30% with 1-2 players so I see it from both perspectives. People cry now about being shot when unarmed, but it's gonna be 20 times worse when firearms are scarce. Also, inb4 ''the SA will force players to work together so less shooting on sight'', not gonna happen. PvP will still be as rife, if not worse considering by the sounds of it essentials will be rarer than the mod and I will actually PvP more on the SA as medicines/food/clothing/firearms/ammo will be more valuable. I will actively kill and betray a majority of people I see to provide myself with valuable supplies and my friends. And I'm a neutral in game, I've killed for no reason and on the flip side i've given new spawns a pistol and spare supplies or lifts. The SA will give people more of a reason to kill on sight, no doubt about that. RE vehicles, if it's more of an effort to maintain and find them, i can see plenty people being disillusioned with the game. It's bad enough grinding for one wheel that fits all, but trolling will be through the roof if just getting a vehicle in working condition will take real life hours. Sure they're a awesome end game to work for but I wouldn't dare drive anywhere for fear of one or two shots or bad collision detection forcing another few hours grinding again, Also I don't get the logic of ''remove as50'', when in reality a DMR or m40a3 would kill you just as quickly. It's back to the age old argument of snipers and being one shots and people being butthurt, been that way over countless games for years. All the M24/CZ/SVD does on the mod is gives people a chance to alt f4 from my experience. Even with ''point and click'' mechanics compared to ACE etc I feel if you can hit a moving target on vanilla arma engine from 600+m you should be rewarded with a kill. Then you're down the route of ''remove snipers'', then remove automatics, then remove everything apart from pistols till we're all running around with planks of wood.
-
Have you ever considered that in the event of a real outbreak (the argument used) other survivors would be just as dangerous, if not more, than the zeds? I agree to a extent its trolling shooting unarmed players from 1000m on the coast for no gain. However humans are naturally barbaric and especially in that situation are likely to pose more of a threat e.g killing/robbing for supplies, equipment. I know in a lot of cases that isnt the motivation but it is a game... I dont understand why so many players want pvp nerfing. I agree friendly encounters are interesting and more rewarding, but it would be like the book of eli in reality if youve seen it..

The thing that bugs me with admins is 90% of them have the attitude of ''we pay for this shit, fuck off then'' (actually been told that challenging admin abuse), so why advertise it to legit players if it's their own personal sandbox? It doesn't make sense. I've been banned along with my friends from a few servers for finding admin camps, and also banned for challenging admin abuse because they called me out on ''whining'' (I was suggesting things they could do with the server to improve it, while trying to promote it myself). They figured I was too big for my boots, and on direct chat (before I knew about rcon and admin tools) I was speaking to a friend through text, and all off a sudden I get ''WE CAN SEE THIS YOU FUCKING TWAT, BANNED''. Ridiculous. Even the better policed servers admins treat it like their own sandbox, spawning in heli's at will, spawning in vehicles to create huge explosions (actually happened. sure, on the edge of the map, however that isn't the point), letting people suck up to them and giving them weapons or pointing them towards vehicles etc etc. And that's just what you see. I know it's a bit of a oxymoron or w/e the term is but a admin cannot legitimately play on their own server, which I agree is unfair as they pay and enjoy the game too but such a high percentage abuse it, no matter how minor. From spawning food in for a friend, to scripting in helis. Hell, on one server I was on which I thought was very well policed and moral I had a admin spawn a heli next to me out of nowhere, and say ''there you go, it'll disappear on restart though''. I left it, but still. Problem is public hives are a no go. Whitelisted private hives are still occasionally rife with hacking, public is just a no go.

one thing that bugs me about pvp whiners..
Rifle Eyez replied to Rifle Eyez's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Ha - this was just a general musing with myself really, never expected so many replies. I agree there needs to be a balance between no PvP and kids picking up the first gun they get and deathmatching on the coast however...it's part of the game. At least it makes cities somewhat dangerous. I honestly don't think they should come in and make the zombies 10 times as hard to discourage PvP, I think players SHOULD always be the main threat. Humans are smart, intelligent, calculated, can work together, and can do the craziest things when they feel desperate...people will do anything when they hit rock bottom. That is the most interesting mechanic, if it focused on PvE with a side of PvP that would get incredibly boring. I know it's different for everyone, but just play L4D, Dead Rising, Dead Island if you wanna kill ''zombie hoards!11'' My logic is that whilst it is a ZOMBIE survival simulator, that doesn't mean it's not simply...a post-apoc survival simulator. It's not L4D, Dead Rising etc. In the mod the zombies are just a backdrop and I think it should stay that way. I don't think they shouldn't be improved on however. Hell, from my personal point of view the most exciting potential with the standalone, and even the mod and the genre in general is player interaction and game mechanics in a post apocalyptic world with no law and order, rules, structure etc rather than some ''infected'' or ''zombies'' wandering around. That excites me more than PvE. I could individually reply to some comments but I just don't have the energy....was just a general argument that i've never seen used. In tons of post apocalyptic scenarios humans are our own worst enemy. -
Anyone else miss when you were a noob?
Rifle Eyez replied to Death_Dealer's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Oh, for sure. My first couple lives still stick with me and are super vivid. I can pretty much give a minute by minute of account of my first real try, it was exciting when it was new. Still remember being in the corner of that barn north of Cherno, at night, with a thunderstorm raging outside...(still feels like a unique storm I was that new, now I don't even bat a eyelid and feel like I rarely see them). Passing out from low blood, hatchet, literally backed into the corner listening to zed's outside...those were the days :) I remember ''gearing up'' (food/drink), thinking i'll head north....1 hour later I realized after trying desperately to read road signs and describe towns that i'd in-fact gone full circle and wasn't even 2km outside cherno lol. It was that moment I caught the bug and knew it was THE game i'd plow hours into as it was a totally unique experience. Just hearing the first shots from another player in the distance was exciting. I still remember thinking that a crawling zombie was a player from a distance and ran up to them to try talk haha. Now it's almost a chore. You can pretty much gear up and be set in 20 minutes max if you get a Cherno/Electro spawn. My first try back in that barn I remember thinking ''how the hell do I find matches, a knife and wood to make a fire?'' -
I'd post this in Private Hives but i'll just get spammed with completely random servers. Can anyone from experience recommend a good, passworded or policed whitelisted server with a high population in the UK/EU with active admins? My group have now tried over 15 since July and encountered the following issues.. - First issue...The big high population servers - AWA 1/2, UK#10 etc still has hacking. Within 20 minutes on AWA 1 my friend had a heli attack him in the dark + middle of nowhere. When mocking their aim on side chat, he got teleported then killed. Too many tl;dr hacking moments on these...Thats ignoring the Barbed Wire/Sandbag/Tank Trap/Tent spam in every major city. Also I've found every high pop attracts the most immature players... - Second issue is also commonplace. Having great gear, camp, couple vehicles set up - but literally no player interaction for days as there's usually 0 other players other than one or two and the admins. - Same as above, but slightly more players 5-10 but with your standard admins who use every trick in the book aka spectating other players, using rcon to listen over direct chat (i've had admins abuse this when talking to randoms or complaining about the admin abuse and being banned before I knew what admins could see, next thing I know I get ''we can see this you prick, we pay for this server so leave we don't care'' attitude. Also restarting server for ''unknown'' reasons, actually banned for killing them etc. Spawning in helis at will, Weapons for friends/people who suck up to them. Also spawning in tons of vehicles and satchel charging them etc - I know they pay and it's ''their'' sandbox, but why advertise and reach out to legit players? Halp? I want to enjoy the mod for the rest of it's now short lifespan it has left, but no matter where I go I run into these issues.

Probably the wrong section, but...
Rifle Eyez replied to Rifle Eyez's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I've heard nothing but good things about Balota Buddies - I was actually going to mention that it sounds like one of the more promising servers. In regards to practicing PvP - I'd say each member of our 4 man team are above average from our Arma2/Day-Z/Wasteland experiences. We've been playing plenty Wasteland to tie us over as a alternative till the standalone (hacking doesn't bother us there) and just now I've took out a 4 man squad solo at the NWAF 1 v 4 one after another, Such a rush! But despite Wasteland being a blast we love the persistent side of Day-Z and loot/vehicles having some sort of value. Thanks guys :) -
