There should be another tactical action that players can pull off with the right skill. Grabbing other players: using them either as a human shield (when handgun equipped), or choking them out (when no weapon is present or rifle is equipped) Punching and use of more melee weapons: Melee is always fun. Jumping: to jump from one platform to another. Climbing: to climb over fences or walls Rappelling: to get off a roof, cliff, or helicopter quickly. Carpentry: to keep out those pesky intruders. to build fences. to build anything that can be built with wood. Tracking: to use scents or differences in terrain to follow a target, animal or human. Infection leading to zombie mutation: So we can experience the other side of the spectrum. Go around attacking other players. Alert other npc zombies to player locations. Thats all I can think of at the top of my head. Thanks.

I think there should be a way of adding a player to a group that can be checked and managed in game. This could help with the allocation of authority within groups making it very functional for clans, and when combined with GPS player locations can bee seen if other group members have GPS as well. Perhaps also the use of the radio within groups, to help with communication over long distances to try and provide a realistic alternative to Ventrilo and Teamspeak or other 3rd party private chat programs. Group Commands. For example: "Fire on target", "Need back up", "Need Bandage" "Need Blood", "Need Morphine", "Bandit spotted", "Zombie spotted", "Need ammo", "Need Weapon", "Help!" can be a few commands given, but only over radio. Visual representation on player to help with identification of friends, foes, loners, and strangers. Maybe an armband with a customized color or symbol. Optional: an on screen visual location indicator of other group members within 10-20 meters of visible distance. For example: If a player goes behind a wall or rock, they no longer have general location indicator. Much like an ESP hack, except it goes away when the player enters your FOV.

This isn't a game breaking experience. Helicopters, cars, motorcycles, all take time to repair and maintain. They stay in game. I also agree with the above post.

Hello, I'm a student at Full Sail University, and I'm studying to be a game designer. I know that doesn't really much as of yet, but I do have a few suggestions. One of my assignments this week is to think of a game I have played or am currently playing and add or remove something to make the game better. Obviously since I'm intrigued by Day Z I decided to use this game, especially since its still in its alpha development phase. Here is my scientific method that could help answer your question. 1. Why is there no squad or group creation game mechanic to help identify friendly or trusted players within a certain distance or visibility? 2. The game already has so much working against each player. In real life we more or less know where our teammates or friends are due to directional awareness. 3. If players were able to add friends or trusted players to a group, which would help identify them in game and distinguish them from other potentially harmful players, it would make the game more realistic since the majority of the avatars look the same. Adding a nametag marker or a directional indicator of the teammate approaching would be beneficial. Also if players breach the trust created by the group function by killing another group member, they are instantly given a “murderer/ bandit” status symbol or given a strike towards their record in the group. Also by creating groups, the game can track how many groups there are, how often people are operating within their groups, the average distance group members are from each other, how often people betray group members, how often and which groups fight with other groups the most. 4. Testing? Truly the only way to test out my hypothesis is to get Dean Hall to implement this into the game. Currently I use a private group voice chat program during gameplay, and ask my teammates to identify their positions constantly and routinely avert my vision from the sector I’m watching just to make sure I’m still beside my teammate. Thats an unnecessary hassle that can be avoided by adding some sort of group radar or indicator only to know the position of group mates. Let me know what you think, re-iterate my idea, build upon it however you like. Personally I think recording that kind of information is an awesome idea and would be a great addition to the games experience. -
