  1. This is a joke, right? I mean, this has to be a joke. There is no way somebody would actually believe this, surely? Neither Harry nor myself are American. In fact, we live in Australia, which has some pretty tight gun restrictions. Guess what one of the most common rifles here is! Guess what rifle you can get in almost any country where guns aren't completely banned, and easily at that! Even in places like the UK people can get the R700. It is a civilian hunting rifle and an extremely prolific one at that. Play a little less CoD (I can only assume that this is why you seem to attach some mystical reverence to the R700 and thus elevate it to "OMG CIVILIANS CAN'T HAVE THEM EXCEPT IN AMERICA" level) and spend more time fact-checking before you make idiotic sweeping generalisations. By the way, which country do you live in? I bet you can get R700s there. In fact, I'd be pretty much certain of it. I can't think of a single country offhand which is advanced enough to have widespread internet access, yet where basic bolt-action hunting rifles are not legal. Because that is what the R700 is, a basic hunting rifle. The M24 is just a more rugged, standardised version of it.
  2. At a distance where grass doesn't cover you, the game will actually 'sink' you into the ground mesh to make you less visible. It isn't perfect, but it's better than running around in the open. Crawling everywhere is a real life thing that doesn't translate perfectly to the game, but it can help since your silhouette is reduced so much. The big key is to move first, hit the deck, then move again. Don't just do the usual ArmA AI thing of proning on the spot the moment shots are fired.

    Remove sniper rifles..more realistic...

So just to get this straight, you're talking about sniper rifles, right? Not hunting rifles? You mean the military-spec rifles which, in many cases, are built off of hunting rifle actions (Remington 700 -> M24, M40, for instance)? You mean those, right, not the scoped hunting rifles which are commonly available in any country where guns are not completely banned, and which make up the overwhelming majority of privately-owned firearms in said countries? The sniper rifles, as in the hunting rifles that are built to withstand a little harsher treatment, and with standardised parts and optics? Modern military sniper rifles and civilian hunting rifles are very similar. I would be fine with less SVDs, DMRs, and .50 cals floating around, but to say all scoped rifles should be removed is idiotic, unrealistic, and downright ignorant. Terrible thread, just like every other thread where someone complains about "sniper rifles" because they're too careless to check an area before they go sprinting into it, making a lot of noise and running about in the open. The CZ in particular is too rare now - I haven't seen one since the patch where its spawn rate was severely nerfed. It should be one of the most common weapons in the game, realistically speaking.
  4. Correct thread. The only people who see fit to complain about "sniper rifles" (news flash, modern sniper rifles are usually built off of common hunting rifles, just to military spec - there is very little difference and no argument that they are 'rare' or even 'vaguely uncommon' in real life) are those who are careless, oblivious players who go charging into the open without even stopping to think. In addition to what Harry's already said - all of which is solid advice - I have some, too, also as a bandit who hunts other players for sport: If a shot is fired, your immediate reaction should be to sprint for maybe five paces in a random direction (not 'at' the direction of the shot), dive to the ground, start crawling for maybe another 10-20 metres in a different direction, and only then do you observe the situation, find a target or likely target location, and return fire. When you know you are being watched, you should only run in short bursts, then dive down and crawl again, always changing direction so you pop up in a different place. Never use a road. If you need to navigate by one, parallel it some distance away, preferably in a ditch or treeline. Only visit large cities if you just spawned and need loot, or if you want to PvP. If you want to carebear it up, there is no reason to go into Cherno and you're an idiot if you do. The same loot can be had at much less dangerous locations around the map, and even though it may take longer, you won't end up getting shot. Raid at night. Moonlit nights are the best time to be out, as you don't need light sources to see and the shadows will hide you really well. Also, several sniper rifles in the game don't play nice with night vision.
  5. I have walked right up to players and shot them before without being noticed, including one sniper in a ghillie who I didn't even notice until I practically stepped on him. I doubt it was anything suspicious, more likely tunnel vision on your part and good luck on his.

    Player Journals

Yeah, I'd love to be able to read the kinds of things people somehow made it through until they met me.

    Where is the .22lr?

Of course, but thoe vehicles serve a separate, distinct purpose; the 1895 with a suppressor would be ditched in favour of the M9 SD by almost everybody, so it'd just be going to waste. Again, though, the regular 1895 could be useful as an early-game weapon.
  8. Why are scoped rifles somehow irrelevant or not fitting for this mod? They are perfectly fitting, in fact I would argue they are more fitting in this mod than any other. Players can observe and deal with zombies or other players from concealed, relatively safe positions, rather than having to run in close and then get swarmed the second they fire a shot. As it is, the CZ pulls zombies for a pretty impressive distance. By the way, someone who knows what they're doing with the Enfield - a common weapon even in starting areas - can just as easily hit people out to 3-400m, if not further.

    Name indicator

Make it so that the person has to actually perform an action on you, like the old greeting/intel dialogue system from ArmA 2, before they can see your name - and it resets on death. Even having tags pop up at ten metres is something I would hate to see implemented.

    Bandits and Survivors

Don't like being killed by bandits? Don't go near them, don't run around in the open like an idiot, avoid other players unless you've been observing them for some time and know you can trust them. There is nothing wrong with the current system and bandits absolutely do not need to be put at any kind of disadvantage at all. If you die to bandits lots, it says more about your own playstyle than it does about the game.

    AI death squad

Except it's not really all that random, since it's scripted to happen. The only 'random' part is when/where it happens. I don't see any point to adding scripted events of any sort to the mod. They will destroy the reason it is unique and popular, while contributing virtually nothing worthwhile to it.

    Where is the .22lr?

Well you got me there, but how many other people do you think share that skillset, let alone in a pretty backwater post-Soviet republic which is now infested with zombies? As for the existing suppressors, they're already very rare, as they should be. It's not a thing I can see really being worth the effort versus how few people would find it and use it when there are more modern suppressed offerings.

    Where is the .22lr?

I think he was referencing the pretty immensely low chances of finding an 1895 with its suppressor.

    Player Journals

Being able to actually write something when I feel like killing time, which players will then see if they find my body, would be pretty sweet. Might add a whole new dimension to being a bandit, too. I get to read all sorts of stories!
