I'm of the Opinion that KoS will be shorted sight and wasteful....
kragz replied to [email protected]'s topic in General Discussion
Easy way out of not answering my difficult question - making this a red herring and thus showing you to be intellectually dishonest. I'll assume you know what a red herring is and won't attempt to patronize you with a link. Please show me precisely where I misrepresented your argument. Remember, key points that I adressed in your post: Kills can be logged with a pen. Educate yourself on Maslow. No respawns is a bad idea. Thanks. -

You can track your kills in a note with a pen. Sorry, that rules out that whine. Your last paragraph is a joke. You basically concede that my point is valid, and that murders would exist in such a scenario. Are you family with Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs? Educate yourself and you might find that people aren't as predictable as you'd quite like them to be. Not sure what you have against respawning though. Don't think many people would pay £19.99 for a game they only get to play once with no respawn :/. So basically that argument is resolved? You agree that KOS with absolutely no motive is not only ok and fine for this game, but correctly simulates a zombie apocalyptic scenario? If you don't agree with that statement, you need to find another game to play :). -

Why are you so butthurt? Killing fresh spawns fits the role of somebody who has simply cracked due to the stress and fear of an apocalypse. If you don't like this aspect of the game then perhaps DayZ is not the game for you. -

Sounds like DayZ perhaps isn't the game for you if you don't like the sandbox element of it. I shoot people for a kill count. I GUESS if you wanted to argument from a RPG perspective you could argue that somebody who kills for the fuck of it is playing the role of an insane person. Definitely realstic to a zomebie apocalypse scenario -

I'm going to go out of my way to keep the KOS attitude running. Without it, this isn't a game, but a running and eating simulator. I could sit in a house and eat beans all day long in real life if I wanted. It would be boring in real life, and certainly boring in a game. Gathering loot to do nothing with is similarly boring - much like the raiding mentality in WoW. Raid to get more gear to raid with. Pleasure in loot is a false one. This isn't Collecting Simulator 2014. KOS is going to stay alive, I'm going to kill everybody I can, and even pretend to be friendly before I kill them for rags. It's the most fun part of the game and that's why it is so popular. -
Why are people complaining about KOS like it's a feature issue?
kragz replied to kragz's topic in General Discussion
The learning curve for this game is MUCH higher than call of duty. Extreme survival DEFINITELY includes killing people for any supplies. Your attempt at dismissing the people who wish to play this sandbox game differently and just as legitimately as you just comes across as a tired whine. It's people like you whose tears taste so sweet and encourage people to deathmatch. You have encouraged me to log on and shoot a few bambis and I wasn't even going to play today. -
Delete your post before you upset all the lamers that want to sit in the woods eating beans and playing minecraft.

Charging people money to help you "make" a game....
kragz replied to jBrick's topic in General Discussion
There seems to lie the core of the problem. People have an emotional investment in this game and for some reason can't bear it being criticized, it seems to upset the very core of their being to the point where they become dismissive and abusive. Terrible community! THIS is the reason why new threads are appearing, nobody is discussing the issue and just saying "go play warz" or "learn to read". -

If you take off your fanboy glasses for one second, you might see that a lot of the 'cry' is actually criticism to be heard and listened to, rather than just tarring everybody as being 'illiterate'. -

The people who are complaining about the bugs and state of the game, such as myself, are probably more likely to be the ones being more constructive. I've already contributed a fair-share to the bug reports. The people that are enjoying sitting inside new interiors while constantly drinking are more satisfied, and less likely to be constructive - rather just come to this forum and flame those of us who are by spamming disclaimers! Conveying your displeasure of the game and it's release as a whole is ALSO constructive criticism. -

I'm just jumping in here before the fanboys start quoting the disclaimer and/or telling you it's in Alpha (even though you've acknowledged you realize this) and that you should shut up/go play cod/go play warz. Good luck with your criticism on this forum! -
This is ridiculous. I wasn't one of 'those' people just crying about the games unfinished state, but gave a valid reason as to why it was a mistake to release the game in its current state. Instead of allowing a discussion, the server mods took it upon themselves to delete the thread as probably the criticism of their precious fandom was too true. This game is Alpha. We understand. We see it ad nasuem. Rocket has been screaming it on every video and post for the past fucking year. HOWEVER, a lot of people are unhappy and feel this was released way too early in its alpha phase. You can't sell people a zombie game that has no zombies. Perhaps you should add a disclaimer to the forum saying "Only loyal fanboys allowed, no dissatisfied fans ('haters') or noob cod players". It would sum up the attitude to how posts are being moderated here...

You haven't read anything what I have typed, have you? Stick with your stock copy-paste responses and treat me like somebody who hasn't understood the situation if you will, but it only serves to make you look like an absolute moron -

Totally agree. I'm enjoying a performance boost, and the inventory system. However, it's much more constructive to focus on the negatives and that overall I feel like £20 for this product was far too steep. They needed to sort out the basics which they surely knew were a problem as they can be found if you just played it offline single player. Glad to see not everybody isn't so hostile to criticism with the classic "It's alpha, go play warz" etc. -

I paid for something therefore I have no entitlement to criticize it? Please, get a clue. -

It's pretty atrocious. I feel like I'm back where I was one year ago playing the FREE mod. I'm completely baffled at the DayZ team for releasing it in this state and charging for it. Surely you release a game in alpha once you feel you and your team have addressed a majority of the bugs and need constructive player feedback? I noticed well over 10 problems with the game within a few minutes of playing the thing. The zombies aren't even properly implemented into the game - something you would expect in a publicly-released RETAIL ZOMBIE-survival game. Yes, Rocket released a statement saying this is alpha and players should only purchase if they want to be a part of the development process. We get it. But, this is barely playable in it's current state and is completely absurd they would charge £19.99 for it - It's terribly unfinished, even for an alpha release. -
Wow. Somebody here is very easily pleased.

If you want to run around building a base freely then maybe you should go play Minecraft.

Hey guys, Currently play on a private hive that restarts every 6 hours. Just wondering how vehicle spawns work. I found a bike at a spawn point located on dayzdb.com and had it destroyed a few days later. On the next restart it wasn't at the spawn location. This confused my idea of how i thought it all work. Anybody got an explanation for me? Also, dayzdb.com seems to not have many of the spawn points of vehicles. Is there a better map? Thanks

After not playing Dayz for a few months I log back in and give it a shot. Here is what happened: I spawned inside a Balota hanger with my hatchet and miscellaneous junk items and before i'm done scouting the corners I hear a "I am friendly" voice. He also has a hatchet and we decide to stick together. I am naturally weary of this guy as everybody is friendly once under or evenly matched! We decide to head to Cherno as we're both in need of supplies and as we hit the rim of the wood that surrounds the airfield we hear multiple "don't shoot" calls. It's a group of three. One with a Auto shotty, one with a PDW and another with a hatchet. Turns out the two with guns are friends, and the third is a survivor they picked up. I felt these guys were genuine, if they were bandits we'd likely be already dead and not discussing where to head out. However, I really only play lone wolf. It's more atmospheric. After minutes of not being able to hear each other, and the friendly 2 guys speaking French I decided I was getting bored, and it was likely other players were too. That's when things usually start to go sour. So I took my opportunity. I ran at the French guy while was holding down Capslock to talk and give him a hatchet to the face while he tells me "I am your friend dude" in a strong, French accent. I make a run for it while his friend takes poor potshots at me, snapping past my head. I heard more gun fire once I was clear and waited a few minutes before returning On my return to the site I find 3 dead bodies and one unconscious. I took the auto shotgun, PDW and made my way to Cherno a la lone wolf. End of the day I survived, and before making my decision I felt bad evening thinking about killing that poor Frenchman and the horrifically long loading screen he'd have to endure on this high pop server. I think I made the correct choice.

I don't think it's that simple. I didn't do it for entertainment or at least to deliberately make them lose all their game progress. I did it to ensure my own survival. Isn't that, by definition, what a survivor is?
-
I'd like to play an Ed Gein sort of character. I'd target vunerable female survivors and make gloves out of their skin and bikinis out of their breasts and vaginas
-
A lot of the fun in DayZ is entering the world and immersing yourself in this realistic experience. Now, it is VERY rare you see female characters on this game and frustration must set in after a few weeks. This is why me and friends have created a bandit group. We currently have a car, military gear and drive along the coast looking for unarmed survivors with 'purty mouths'. Most survivors will do anything you say with several rifles to their head, but those who run take a 5.56 to the knee cap. Like I said, females are sparse. It's not gay if you're thinking about boobs.
