BTW, uninstalling and re-installing is a bad idea since your character is saved on the hive, not on your pc. I just went through the process (for other reasons than wanting my character to reset) and thankfully my character was still as I left him.

I agree with Inception. The skills that you have are the experience and the tactical finesse you can think of. This isn't your usual MMO where a lvl 80 warrior can just slay the lvl 1 noobs but DayZ, where a fresh spawn can kill you with a fireaxe if you aren't careful ;) It's a little bit like climbing: you do your steps correct a thousand times but just one uncareful step and you're doomed

Pretty sure it has something to do with the amount of posts you make. You might also have a different title when you have been active since the dayz of the mod (but Im not sure about that)

I agree. Right now I use the doors as an indicator if people have been in the same area. Unfortunately, it feels very unnatural. If some of the doors were barricated, that would be plausible (in order to protect from the zombies). Actually, it would f***ing awesome if you could break into a barricated house and then you find some dead people lying on the floor... only that some of them are not really dead. Damn, that would be cool indeed! EDIT: With barricated windows as well so that it is quite dark inside EDIT No. 2: Actually, once the loot respawns, servers won't have to restart every 2-3 hours anymore. If there is only one restart every 24 hours, after some hours most doors will be open while there still is loot inside the buildings.

I didn't actually realize that those were "real" books with actual content. Now I only need to wait till weather actually affects your character and fireplaces are in the game so that I can snuggle up on a nice fire with a book in my hand and wait for the rain to pass... Which brings me to an idea: Hey devs! Could you please implement the ability to brew earl grey tea? That'd be great. Thanks! Honestly though: While I wouldn't read them ingame, I very much like that there are books in DayZ as it makes Chernarus feel more alive and the fact that you can read them adds to the immersion. Maybe there will be that one player who wants to read a whole book in DayZ, then gets shot just before finishing and after respawn spends his whole time desperately trying to find that one book again, scavaging every house on the server :D

Refueling only at airbases could actually be the best way to balance them. "Oh, you want to refuel your precious heli? Suuuuuure! Just fly and land into one of the most dangerous areas on the map and then stick around for the next 15 minutes refueling it by hand! And remember, one shot to the engine and you're not going anywhere soon" Sounds good to me - it would be high risk- high gain. And would open up chances for other players on a regular basis :) However, it would have to be unfeasible to take the fuel with you to your base. Otherwise people will just go to the airfield by car... (And I don't know if there is a way to limit that amount without feeling totally artificial...)

Too bad there aren't any big rivers or some islands on the map. I would love to traverse the countryside with a houseboat and feel like a person from the Netherlands! :D Would prefer boats to helis to be honest. The map isn't that big anyway (though some people mentioned that it might be extended to the north) and finding boats should be relatively easy considering that the map has a huge coastline Or, you know, if we could have both, that be cool too ;) I think rocket mentioned that with the cars he was going for a smilar system as for the weapon-attachments where a car consists of several parts which all have to be maintained. If a heli consits of a lot of those parts and those parts are relatively hard to come by, I'd quite like the idea of having civilian helis in the game (not a huge fan of flying death-machines)

Running around when it isn't raining also seems to work. Will be interesting to see if they implement getting wet by sweating

I haven't been in possesion of a mosin so far as I have a M4 with enough ammo and a revolver. With the M4 you need to have magazines with bullets in them. Loading works via dragging and dropping or just with "r" if you have a full magazin in your inventory. To fill the magazin you have to drag the bullets in it and an option for loading the magazine will pop up. This only works when the magazine isn't attached to the M4. You can also chamber single rounds if you haven't got any magazines but then you will have only one shot at a time. This should work with your Mosin, just drag the bullets on the Mozin in the inventory. So the point is that just having bullets in your inventory isn't enough ;) EDIT: I just realize that we are in the mod section of the forum... all of the above was for the SA. Which makes sense since the mosin only appears in the SA... right..? :D

I would observer the town for a while first, best from different angles. Depending on how often the server restarts, you can also check if there are open doors since many players don't care enough to shut them after their looting. Basicly anything that helps you get an advantage is neat.

Actually, when running around in wet clothes today, a perfectly fine prestine jeans degraded to badly damaged in no time when it became wet (~10 min. till it really looked ragged)

In an ideal world I would wish for a minecraft kinda model where you have a really big city in the middle and then you can wander off in the distance to find new loot and adventures (since there is only very limited respawn). Of course this would shift the focus of the game immensly and is just me hypothetically speaking

This is why I personally appreciate rocket. There was no need for him to mention the logging at all. Maybe there are some people out there who disassemble and check all the new files but 99% of the people would never have known anything about that. So for that honesty, please at least read his post(s) before you start complaining that everything is getting worse. Penalties arent implemented in any way yet so lets try it and then give feedback and after that a better version will appear EDIT: BTW Im a huge fan of BF3 and a variety of games but theyre completely different than DayZ and I enjoy most of them. Nobody has to "go back to CoD or BF3". That is ridiculous
