The solution is simple, really. Dont die as much. I know it sounds like Im trolling but Im not. When you have to do a lame, long lasting trip through the country everytime you die you will get more careful and you will do everything to survive. Thats what the game is all about after all - survival. The knowing that you have to do something really boring once you die makes your life more precious, especially when you have already met up with your friends. The thing that makes DayZ special is permadeath, if you can just respawn near your last position it looses this strong motivation factor for a quick comfort feature. Of course, long walking is still annoying and there should definitely be more danger present in the forest and through the whole countryside.

Sorry, but I dont agree. I can certainly understand why you find it annoying not to know when it will knock you out but in my opinion thats the beauty of it. The randomness is what makes the fight exciting. Not knowing when you will get knocked out is a key feature and makes you stay on your towes which in the end adds to the overall tension. The strange movement patterns of the zombies however are a completely different thing...

I always like things that add to the experience. Like the first idea. how about additionally adding a gradually decreasing field of view when you strech your limits to far? Almost like in real life when you run too fast for too long your body wont be able to get enough oxygen in your brain ;) The second idea however I dont like so much as it goes too much in the direction of a rpg for my taste.

in theory a good idea but you would have the problem that all the loot gets duplicated with each spawn. At least I think that you leave a dead body behind when you hit the respawn button... or am I wrong?

Thats a great idea. Maybe you wouldnt even need an axe since sticks lie around everywhere in a forrest. I think it would be great if you could use a bandage and combine it with a stick to form a new item -> the splint PS: a few minutes ago I posted the same idea in the 1.7.2.4 thread... and I thought I had come up with something really unique... till I saw this thread, damn :)

Idea: How about a way to steady your leg with a stick (a new item which is commonly found in forrests) and a bandage. That way you could apply a provisional splint which would let you do slow walking, slow crouching and of course proning (is that a word?) It would provide players with a new option instead of killing themselves and seems like a logical thing to do. They could then take on the journey to the next hospital gnihihihi ;D

if you truly regret it, then buy a new copy of arma and thereby pay your debt. Providing services like Battle-Eye or other Anti-Cheat software costs money which you now have to pay.

As of 1.7.2.3 ghillies or camo wont spawn. 1.7.2.4 should fix this

How I feel about the steam sales

Steam sale means more players, means more unexperienced folks on the servers, means more kills for him with the as50... IMHO experienced players who want a challenge should go to the north. Whats the fun in killing people with no weapons along the coast? You, Sir, nailed it! :D -
At a certain point you will probably get tired of getting yourself killed and just start running towards the people you wanna play with. But maybe you have to see it a little different: what it does is actually increase the importance of staying alive even more. This is what the mod is all about right now, surviving. And if your life isnt worth anything it is senseless. What I would like to see at this point would be more danger outside of the cities. In that way the meeting with your buddies wouldnt be "walking through the forest for hours" but it would be "the epic journey to meet up with my friends, full of danger and adventure" ... and it would be awesome if you could drop that, thx

You start with 4 items right? Backpack, painkillers, a bandage and a flashlight (correct me if im wrong) Rocket could then limited the max group-size for spawning together to 4 people and then have the following options: 1 player - all the loot 2 players - p1 has backpack and flashlight p2 has bandage and painkiller 3 players - p1 has backpack p2 has painkiller and flashlight p3 has a bandage 4 players - everyone has one item just an idea, you could as well let players start with absolutely nothing or no backpacks to give a slight disadvantage for group spawning EDIT: sorry, I got carried away a bit here. Is this OK to post here or is it already too off-topic? To justify my post a more on topic question: Will the 50% of inferior hearing for zombies be aggregated when there is more then one object between the zombie and the player?

Is there a way to track how many players are playing on a server where there currently is night compared to a server where its daytime? -
With the upcoming patch it will only logg the various types of disconnects, there won't be any penalties! With the collected data the dev-team will then try to find a method that works. Also, once the penalty system is worked in there will be ways to connect with the support team if you got banned because of crashes etc. So... dont worry! :) Some days ago I accidently shot my mate while we were just a little north of berezino.... of course, he spawns in kamenka^^

Apparently using the respawn button to many times causes problems for the servers. As the respawn button was exploided to get a better spawning position it has been removed yes, it will detect the difference between disconnecting via Alt+F4 and regular disconnecting. Check rockets posts if you want the source

I dont think you have to worry about that. Rocket has mentioned that hes aiming for a minecraft model and said the pricing would probably lie around 15$. Source: Sidestrafe-Interview (its quite worth watching it)

Some sort of unarmed "shove" when the animations become more fluent

I would really like to see this implemented. Maybe it would be possible to give the player some kind of invisible weapon. It could be added to the toolbelt since there are always some unused slots. The shoving could work similar to the hatched and make the zombies fall to the ground or stand still for a short amount of time. To select the "Shove-Weapon" you would cycle through your toolbelt with the "F" key. For the falling to the ground the "unconcious"-animation could be used You could even use the weapon to rob other players. Just some shoves and theyre unable to move for a very short time... oh, the options... :D -

YES. I really like the tension of the first minutes. What I would like though would be a way to get the zombies of your back when your unarmed. How about a way to shove the zombies away from you? Ideally you could make the zombies fall on their backs when you shove them so you have an extra second to get away -
Hahaha, that reminds me about that one time when my boss came in my office and was alll like "hey we got that new feature, can you implement that" and it threw me back for about a month worth of time :D

I dont think those are the kind of bugs you have in regular source-code programming. Its not like when you change something you will have a marker popping up which says "changing the number of rounds in this magazin will cause problems with the inventory system" or like when you missed a semicolon at some point. Im fairly sure that there are a lot of dependencies when it comes to creating a mod. Rocket has to try out a lot of things to get a feel for what is causing problems. Take the bugged hearing for instance: In theory it is a really good idea to make the zombies not hear everything through walls. Unfortunately it let to zombies not reacting to gunshots anymore. And I see your point on the last part that he could get more help by other programmers, but maybe he doesnt want too many other people on the programming progress because its his mod and he wants to realize his vision of it. Please have a little patience and faith in his abilities.

Actually it kinda is like going on a bug hunt. No matter how many you kill you always oversee some in the corner of the room which will then reproduce^^
