Punk Panther replied to stormster10's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Any ideas on how long the servers will be down? -
So how do I get the correct version of the game to get into servers?

Well I downloaded the latest version there that said: ARMA2_OA_Build_95248.zip but I ended up getting 1.60.845-something. So that didn´t help. Am I stupid or what? What am I missing?Edit. I´m reading about a 1.72 being out there. That´s probably the one I need... Edit 2. It seems to be the one I need from looking at the net. So I tried to install it again. I unzip it and click the .exe file. Then I get this window with paper flying between two maps. It says: "Please be patient. This update may appear to take a long time to complete. It is updating and installing very large data. Verifying ArmA2 OA, version 1.62... ArmA2 OA patch 1.62 has been applied successfully". So is it installed even if the papers "keeps on flying" between the maps? It says 100%, but at the top it says its updating to 1.62... -

I bought the combined Arma package from steam and downloaded it. I set up the DayZ mod and I hit multiplayer. But almost every DayZ server has a red X and requires a different version of the game then the one that I have. I have 1.62 version but every1 requires at least 1.62.9563 or something like that. How do I get that? -
OK. So I got the game downloaded, and I put in the mod as well for DayZ. But when I click multiplayer and wanna join a DayZ server I got a red X in front of almost every server for DayZ and it says that I require version 1.62.986542 or something, and different servers require different vesrions, and I only have version 1.62. So how do I update it to get into to these servers? Since Steam have already downloaded the game for me.

OK, I got the games, and watched a youtube vid on how to do it. Hope to see you on the fields. Ohh, and how many people can play at the same servers? Cause it seems really big. And I saw like 40 when the guy on youtube scrolled through servers. That´s waaaaay to little. :P

So Can I get the ARMA II and ARMA II: Operation Arrowhead from steam and download the mod, or does it need to be not from steam?
-
Also, I found it at amazon: http://www.amazon.co...keywords=arma 2 Can I use that one instead of buying it from steam? I live in Sweden by the way. Is there one server, or one for US and one for EU? Edtit. Crap. That was only for US customers... BAH!!!

OK, so everything you pick up, you can use at once then? And is it random spawns on objects in the world, or is it hot spots where every1 go to get the bazooka for instance? How does it work to put together a vehicle then? How do you know when you have the pieces to put it together?

Wow. That was some really fast responses. If you guys are just as fast on the trigger I won´t last long. ;) OK, so it seems to be very immersive then at least. I like that. And I like how it feels alittle sandboxy at least with eating etc. But is there a actuall progression to your character during his minutes ingame. Is there XP at all, or is it more to gather new mats/weapons etc to survive longer, and then try to beat this each time? Also, can I have the same name after each death? Thx for the answers.

I´ve read some about this game on MMORPG, and I like the concept with a post apocalyptic world with zombies. I just wonder if there is any actuall MMO in this game, or if it´s a fps, with zombies in the mix? Cause apperantly there is perma death in game, and average life is 49 minutes. So what can you actually do during this time? If you collect part for vehicles etc they are all lost, and you start from scratch? So what draws you guys back into the game time after time when you´ve died? I´m thinking about trying it, but I want some kind of progression, but if I read this right, that progression stops once you die. And is there anything like "guild" ingame, and how does that work if the leaders etc die? And I do need both Arma II and Arma II: Operation Arrowhead right? Also, can I join in at once if I get it, or do you have to get a invite to test the alpha? Sry for all the question, just eager to find out more about this game from peeps that tried it hands on.
