Right now zombies in the town just keep on spawning when you're there. There's also still a bug when there will be infinite hordes spawning when you're fighting them. It poses a potential problem of never being able to get rid of the zombies or provide yourself with a breathing room big enough to loot and GTFO. Suggestion would be to pre-populate the town with the zombies as soon as the player enters the grid. The next respawn wave should occur no sooner than 15-30mins before that allowing you plenty of time to clear the town if needed/wanted/forced to. Zombie amount should be kept as high as now of course. Lot's of zombies = more adrenaline and "oh shit!" moments. tl;dr Infinite zombie waves suck. Zombie spawning on top of you when you are crawling around the town sucks. Give me an ability to clear the town.

A new player's review (WARNING: Rampant whining ahead)
SteamTrout replied to Tvayumat's topic in New Player Discussion
The biggest question would be: why should I leave you alive? I have a group, I don't know you, you have a gun and you are a potential threat. There is absolutely no reason whatsoever for me not to shoot on sight, prior bad experience or not. Openly helping other survivors is also a risk. You expose yourself, you may alert zombies/other players to your location and at best it's just a waste of precious resources. At worst you will get shot. I am not asking for some ingame benefits for being a good guy or ingame penalties for being a bad guy. However a harsher death penalty (no idea in what way) would go a long way towards fixing the "bumrush the 1st living soul with a Makarov" and maybe will stop my group from seeing everybody as a threat. Because everybody IS a threat right now. Nights are different that way. People generally try to stick together. -

So my friend got sniped today while we were trying to meet up. Lost some good gear but it's normal. I mean dying is part of the game. So while me and the other friend were rushing towards the corpse to get some stuff off it and maybe kill the guy who did it the original dead guy respawns on the coast. And gets shot. And respawns. And gets shot. And respawns. Dead (game bugged out). At this point on he decided to quit the game for some time. I mean I am totally for PvP, don't want it removed or PvPers penalized in any way. But this is just ridiculous. If you are on a populated server (it was 60 out of 60 slots) and are unlucky aka don't spawn as far away from Cherno/Elektro as possible you sometimes can't even get off the coast. People will just continuously suicide-rush you with a Makarov. -
Sorry to hear. Tried changing an occupation? I am in the same situation as OP (although I'm less douchy about it). So what I do is just play on US servers or servers with switched day-night cycles. Because, you know, that's the logical thing to do. Since I live in a region closely resembling Chernarus I did a small test and went to the forest, at night, when it was cloudy. Navigation was possible and it is nowhere near DayZ night. Much closer to original ArmA night. However if you make nights vanilla ArmA bright there would be no reason for flares or flashlights. So there needs to be a balance here. .

I like people flaunting their "life" like it's some kind of measure of superiority. You do realize that flashlight goes into your handgun slot, right? So you won't be able to shoot and look at stuff at the same time. Also what keeps you from playing on daylight servers?

Or you can just press alt...

Having a 15-30 meter no-spawn zone around the player would also help, yeah.

Item slot useage/New Special Items and HUD
SteamTrout replied to dekciW's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
If I remember correctly the inventory system is hardcoded into ArmA engine. So there may not be a way to change what we have now to something which makes sense. However adjusting the amount of slots different stuff takes is, IMO, a must. A bunch of logs taking less space than a flashlight? Or rather, flashlight taking twice as much space as a bunch of logs? I understand the balancing issues (we don't want people running around with 5 revolvers in their backpacks) however reducing handgun/flashlight size to at least 3 and reducing wood pile to 1 would go a long way. Ideally the inventory system should be a mix of that in Stalker and Brigade E5. A man can dream... -

Zombies are spawning in ArmA2 main campaign
SteamTrout replied to SteamTrout's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Look at it this way. DayZ is a mod which modifies a certain part of the game. It also modifies something it is not supposed to modify (SP campaign). It may be because it's impossible to do it otherwise or it may be because something was overlooked. I think it is worth reporting such issues for the developers even if there is an indeed a simple fix to be found (disabling the mod). I mean it doesn't actually affect the campaign in any meaningful way apart from a zombie here or there so it's definitely not something major. -
Normal flashlight is pretty much a floodlight. When you turn it on night turns into day for the whole island. When we tried to see how long the light goes I could comfortably navigate 250m away from the guy with the flashlight. Military flashlight is seen from about 50m away.

Be able to start with a friend
SteamTrout replied to thescythianking's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
In my opinion finding friends is one of the most fun things you can do in this game. Removing it is just wrong. -
Right now there's basically Winchester and Winchester in this game. If you are lucky, you can maybe also find a Winchester. As in you you're lucky not to be spawned outside the map boundaries with no bards around. Judging by the amount of Winchesters Chernarus is a wild wild west. There are 2 simple solutions to this problem: 1) Make Lee Enfield spawn more often. Basically reverse the spawn rates. Lee Enfield is an awful gun and would make a very good starter rifle because of that 2) Significantly reduce the spawn rate of slug rounds. Basically slugs should be something you look for, not just ignore because your backpack is full of them. In my opinion that would solve most problems related to weapon balance. As of right now you just find Winchester.

How to balance out the weapons: easy way
SteamTrout replied to SteamTrout's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Right, people complaining about the word "balance". You see to have complete lack of understanding of what rocket actually meant. Player with NVG versus player without NVG at night is unbalanced. But it's fine. That's how it should be. One gun spawning all the time with abundance of ammo is unbalanced. Not because it's OP or UP. But because it's unbalanced. And that is not fine. I actually want to make the game harder then it is now because find a winnie = win. I mean CZ has it's niche as a player killer. Lee is also more of a pvp weapon. However while CZ can never become a zombie killer, Lee can. The spawn rate just needs to be tweaked. -

Shotgun bullets must be same (12 gauge).
SteamTrout replied to ChapYurin's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Pretty much this. Also please reduce the amount of slug spawns and increase the amount of pellet spawns. Slugs are too good to be available in every barn. -

So wait, 30min life expectancy does NOT involve repeat suicide because playing the game is hard? O.o Oh wow, now I see the reason for all those people spamming global with their death notifications. Ditto. However I think just rebalancing the spawns of current weapons will already add some variety. It will also remove, in my opinion, unnecessarily easy ability to obtain an awesome weapon after 5 mins of playtime. -

I did read that. Please read my post because going apeshit about something completely irrelevant. Einfeld is not really a bad gun. Sure' date=' it's loud and will attract huge hoardes of zeds but in reality the gun itself Is plenty accurate and does impressive amounts Of damage. [/quote'] And I got approximately bazillion kills with a Makarov. Point is, compared to Winchester with slugs Enfield is just bad. It's loud, the clip is smaller(?), ammo is more scarce. So if we take two guns, Winchester and Enfield, and compare them Enfield would suck. I'm pretty sure there are people running with Enfields because they just genuinely like the gun. And that's good. However I'm also pretty sure (and I have evidence of every survivor carrying a Winchester to prove it) that Winchester is just wildly more popular not because of the gun "stats" themselves but because you just cannot run out of ammo to loot. Good, one-shot ammo. In my opinion it just unneedlessly limits the variety of guns available. -
1) You are wrong 2) No

So because people are bad we should spawn Barrets all over the map?
