In my opinion we should have about 10 skins to choose from. This will really add the variety to the encounters and will allow people to identify server commoners by their looks (those who live long enough to be famous that is). I also think some high level rare skins should have passive benefits/drawbacks which affect zombie AI (hearing/visibility meters). This is necessary because, as far as I know, ArmA AI doesn't understand camo patterns and won't have a more difficult time seeing your ghille suit compared to your Hawaii t-shirt. I have went through ArmA resources (I have CO, PMC and BAF installed) and have chose those I think would most fit the current environment. From left to right: Image 1. Full wookie aka Ghille Suit Rarity: very rare Availability: military installations Passive benefits: Reduces visibility by 1 bar Passive drawbacks: Increases running noise by 1 bar Reasoning: Military equipment left at the army bases. Due to lots of shuffling makes running louder however you generally blend better with the environment. 2. Half wookie aka Partial Ghille Suit Rarity: less common/rare Availability: general stores Passive benefits: none Passive drawbacks: none Reasoning: Hunting equipment. Due to lack of leg "hair" running doesn't generate that much noise. For the same reasons it doesn't provide that much camo from zombies. Useful for player hunting since players still see a walking bush. Balanced choice. 3. Survivor Rarity: you already have it Availability: none Passive benefits: none Passive drawbacks: none Reasoning: Your starter skin. 4. Woodland gunslinger bandit badass Rarity: common Availability: general stores Passive benefits: You look badass. That's not enough? Passive drawbacks: none Reasoning: Outfit assembled from the stuff you can buy at any military equipment store. Gets extra points for looking cool. Possible outfit for bandits if they chose to. 5. Woodland bandit Rarity: common Availability: general stores Passive benefits: none Passive drawbacks: none Reasoning: Just another woodland camo bandit outfit 6. Woodland survivor Rarity: common Availability: general stores Passive benefits: none Passive drawbacks: none Reasoning: Woodland camo-ed survivor outfit. Your head is also covered from a nasty rain! Replacement for the current Rambo skin since having no sleeves in this weather is a short trip to the hospital in search for antibiotics. 7. Chernarussian soldier Rarity: very rare Availability: military bases Passive benefits: Your max blood is increased to 15k to simulate having kevlar protection. Passive drawbacks: Your have less stamina (go to breathing heavily faster) and your running noise is higher by 1 bar. Reasoning: Chernarussian soldier equipment. Kevlar plating provides protection from gunfire and zombie bites. Heavier and louder on the move. 8. US soldier Rarity: very rare Availability: military bases Passive benefits: Your max blood is increased to 15k to simulate having kevlar protection. Passive drawbacks: Your have less stamina (go to breathing heavily faster) and your running noise is higher by 1 bar. Reasoning: US soldier equipment. Kevlar plating provides protection from gunfire and zombie bites. Heavier and louder on the move. Identical to Chernarussian soldier. Here more for the lore reasons. From left to right: Image 1. City camo Rarity: very common Availability: general stores Passive benefits: none Passive drawbacks: none Reasoning: For those times when you just don't want to leave Elektro but want to be a bit more stealthy 2. City camo boss Rarity: common Availability: general stores Passive benefits: none Passive drawbacks: none Reasoning: Those Elektro bandits need to know who's Da Boss around here 3. Policeman Rarity: very common Availability: general stores Passive benefits: none Passive drawbacks: none Reasoning: Wanna take on a role of bandit menace? Want everyone to know that? Here's just a suit for that 4. Doctor Rarity: very common Availability: general stores Passive benefits: none Passive drawbacks: none Reasoning: Inspired by that guy who just wanted to help people and roleplay a doctor. Now he can look like one!

Disclaimer: I am obviously exaggerating in this post. However not by much. And I don't mean a point on the map telling you to go there, God no. Right now your average DayZ life consist of getting gear and then being bored to death. You don't need to worry about survival because food/water are so common you need to be very VERY unlucky to starve to death. You need to worry about medical supplies only if you have something other than ALICE backpack. You need to worry about having bad guns for about 1 hour. That's how long it takes you from spawn until you're sporting at least an AK. Most of that is just running in the forest looking at the scenery. Then there's nothing to do. You can't build camps because most suitable location for the tent is an airfield (empty even ground, yay!). Vehicles are temporary gone and if they're not, what do you use them for? Get more loot? Again, what for? Basically there's no long term goal you can work for. Technically helicopter could've been such a goal (build it, escape from the country in hopes somewhere other than here is better). But there just needs to be more. Because right now, after you get the gear, you will probably start deathmatching out of boredom. I think if you give people something to strive for, something to actively put effort in there will be less shooting because of boredom. Making survival hard would also help. Let's take rebuilding a power grid as an example. It could require an effort of more than a small group. It could require vehicles to transport parts. It will benefit everybody on the server. It will add more life. People will have a purpose, people will have a reason not to shoot on sight. Being able to create camps (like actual camps, maybe even with fortifications of sorts) will provide the same goal for a smaller group of people. Bringing back vehicles is also essential for that same reason. TL;DR Give people something to work towards which will require cooperation (like rebuilding a city power grid). Make survival actually hard by making food more scarce.

Yeah but at least it'll delay that. I mean I am on the verge of going to Cherno and just shooting everything that moves because' date=' well, there's nothing else to do. And when I die I'll spend an hour getting back my stuff and do the same thing. More survival? The only time when you feel like you're really surviving is when you meet other players. Otherwise it's a stroll in a zombie theme park while noming on beans just because you can, not because you're hungry.

O.o Wow, you are taking it to the whole new levels, aren't you?

Found in the areas where normal zombies aren't (woods, roads, ponds, deer stands) these are unfortunate victims of not having a proper medical insurance (.45 slug in your temple when you're about to die). They should come in all varieties of player skins (survivor and bandit atm). It would also be cool if they were using some kind of sitting animation most of the time so you won't immediately understand if he's a real survivor eating beans or a zombie.

Different themed gear for each military base area.

Maybe have NW airfield spawn only NATO weapons and NE (Krasnostav) spawn only Russian weapons? Increase the variety of Russian weapons and the amount of loot spawn points to compensate of course. Maybe throw a broken down plane in the middle of the runway or something. -

Food, water, cola/pepsi. More relism please.
SteamTrout replied to Coach (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Do that and increase animal spawns significantly while decreasing the effectiveness of cooked meat in half. -
Not sure if it's relevant to anything but I was playing with a friend and my FPS went from 30 to 10 (while usual is 40-60). We decided to switch servers and as soon as he disconnected FPS jumped from 10 to 30 again. He rejoined and it stayed at 30ish. Server/client was 1.6.0.1.

Unless it's the whole desaturate-screen-shaking thing I think it'll be good. Because screen shaking does get VERY annoying after about 3 seconds. You proposed the temp to rise when you have cold/fever even you are, yourself, cold. I was wondering if it does happen IRL which seems unlikely.
-
Well, right now (1.5.8.4 that is, haven't tried 1.6 yet) antibiotic drop rate is nearing 0. Meaning I have a friend here who's been coughing for the last 4-5 hours with no ability to stop it. So maybe just having temp at 100% for some time should "cure" the infection. I dunno, just something to get rid of the annoying cough :) Nope. A friend got mauled by a zombie which broke his legs, arms and gave him that nasty cough. Temp was at 80+%. Probably a bug but just in case it's a feature... I wonder would your temperature actually rise if you have hypothermia due to having or cold IRL.

Infinite zombie respawn was fixed. A lot of zombies is not a bug, it's a feature :)

A simple solution to identifying bandits post 1.5.9.

I dunno, ask him to go prone/salute/holster weapon/do a happy dance. The way everyone is doing it on normal servers (aka the ones w/o nametags). -
Combined Ops = ArmA2 + Arrowhead. So if you own ArmA2 already you just need to buy OA for the full package.

7.62 had the best inventory system I've so far seen in any game. I just hope it's possible to implement here.

Double click on the map. Enjoy. ...although everybody will be able to see it now for some reason... -
Easier? Yes. Less evil-genius-cackle-worthy? Also yes.

You mean a passed out guy who will come to his senses in about 15 seconds after passing out? You can't just walk up to anybody' date=' grab him and drag him around the island :) Otherwise yeah, bait's a bait :) Hehe. Flies aren't that big of a problem. In fact, after 5 minutes of corpse being there I'd even add ravens circling around.
