I've already posted once here, but I had another horrible death. During a stream with a decent sized audience I ran into a building to get some croud control, it was one of those 2 door shacks, about 5x5 foot floor size. Zombies come through both doors, glitch themselves, close the doors, I scramble to shoot them but the scroll menu was open so I ended up switching to my m1911 with 2 in the chamber, I switch back to the shotgun, get knocked unconsious, and stare with dead eyes into my monitor for about 5 minutes before announcing via stream chat that I'm switching games for the night. Yet for some reason I still love this mod..

A Semi-Lucky Find: Trolling
qbert replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
That's an awesome find. Serves the guy right for leaving his tents somewhere so obvious. -
1: Make the guitar a melee weapon, for the lulz. 2: I'll gladly record guitar tracks using studio equipment if it means contributing to an awesome mod like this.

For example, I'm a bit of a loner in DayZ, the only time I step up to be social is in chat, or if someone needs help because there's 40 zombies outside the building they're in and they have a makarov while I have a winchester with 5 clips. I avoid all the major pvp zones and mainly get my loot from farmhouses, which have sufficient winchester, food, and sodas. I also will make a run for any roomy buildings if more then 5 zombies are after me, otherwise I will backpedal and fire pellets at my infected chasers. I consider myself a hunter/camper type character, in the sense that I hang around the outskirts of the map, and either go to a farm or set up camp in a forest. I keep all my inventory in my backpack so that servers won't eat my epic l00ts. Discuss.

Chances are that it's either a legit server closed for whatever reason and they just renamed the mission, or it's some idiot that named his locked server "DayZ Reloaded" for whatever reason. I've seen a few servers name their missions "DayZ" to bring in players, since it's the "in" thing right now.

Rocket doesn't, therefore no one does. Somewhere in the "General Discussion" area is a mission that's marked in "Important threads" called Chernarus Apocalypse" or something along those lines. It's not even close to DayZ, but it'll definitely rustle your jimmies if you just want a decent zombie mission

I heard if you really want to piss off "The running man" run inside a fairly large warehouse building, kill him, and then dispatch his horde with all the ammo that you should have been saving up for a situation like this.

This sounds more like a game issue then a DayZ issue. To get rid of it you'd have to some kind of crazy stuff with the games engine or make a patch that locks the key bind or something.

Having more full fledged vehicles would make things unbalanced. However a bicycle could work. Too many cars would make the game unbalanced, but a bicycle isn't as fast, and would have to keep to roads, they are too slow on dirt. If we're talking about faster transportation that is both balanced in gameplay, and realistic, a bicycle would be the closest. People couldn't run you down with one, because they're much more vulnerable in a bike. Ultimately people would be sacrificing self preservation for transportation speed. Also they could be more common, because lots of people own bikes, not alot would think about them during an infection/apocalypse A secondary idea to that, is that as a protection for your bike, you could use the current vehicle construction system that's in place to take off your front tire (maybe require toolbox?), essentially protecting your bike from thieves.

I had a good 20 hours under my belt of straight lone-wolf survival. I was in Berezino raiding the store (the one with yellow doors in back) and I had the bright idea to vault my way over the ledge, in an attempt to be a total badass and not have to use the stairs. Unfortunately Arma decided that instead I could stand halfway through the floor of the platform, and break both my legs, then bleed out to about 3000 blood before waking up and being able to bandage myself. I had no morphine or painkillers, but I had about 10 steaks, so I got my blood back. I server hopped every so often to try and raid the hospital but to no avail. I ended up hitting the dreaded "Respawn" key after getting tired of crawling around. I still miss my G17, winchester, and Czech pack :(

The chernarus life method of holstering would probably be the easiest. Alternatively, if the engine allows, you could force the pistol into the position it goes when you're in the gear menu.

I think it'd be more worth it if the crossbow had perhaps a red-dot or a CCO, as it is now, it's a very inefficient weapon in every way possible.

I think melee would work, there was this ww2 mod for arma that let you use your gun-shank or whatever it was called. All it would really be is an alternate fire mode, that's unlimited, and has a 1 foot radius in front of yourself or something. I'm talking out of my ass here of course, but I could see it working decently.

I haven't seen alot of discussion on this particular topic. I would absolutely love to see a version of this. If you ask me a singleplayer would be easy, as the zombies are clientside as far as I know (I read about that in another thread) All that would have to be done is someone creating the mission file, with all the spawn locations/variables added in like it already is, minus all the complicated database stuff. The persistent world stuff would be possible using armas campaign/multiplayer save system, which thus far I've known to be competent. I think the hardest part (if someone were to do this themselves, instead of the devs) would be taking apart the current mod files, seperating everything into units/modules/scripts (I have minimal knowledge of the backend stuff, keep in mind) and then some regular joe could make the mission file. I have no doubts that it's possible, as arma has a robust editor and the tools to accomplish this are publicly available. All that being said, I do enjoy this for its multiplayer, and I appreciate what this mod is, which is essentially an MMOFPS without the bullshit. My own personal reasoning for suggesting/asking for this however, is that I'd like to play on my own terms, and generally just mind my own business. On the other hand, having a co-op version where me and one or 2 friends could just jump on and shoot zombies with this amazing mod would be the best. On a final note, I'd be more than willing to try and take apart the files and do all the technical stuff if someone experienced were to tell me what tools to use and how to use them. Also thanks rocket and all the other devs! This mod is amazing and if I had a wife I'd let you have her.

Looks like I found what I'm looking for, someone put up a singleplayer version. Works great

I agree and disagree with some of this. On one hand, I'd like to see some variety in the zombies asides from hoppers, and runners. A walker would be a nice addition only if it doesn't diminish the amount of runners there are. On the otherh and, if you make the zombies easier, and then reduce the amount of ammo you get, essentially what you'd have is the same amount of balance in the game but with less action and less reward.

Hosting a LAN server or playing Single-Player
qbert replied to DrenNZ's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Would really appreciate a link to said SP/Coop. It would be awesome to have a saveable version of this where I can dick around on my own terms and be left alone when I want to be anti-social and also play DayZ I'm definitely glad to hear of this.
