Denizens of FR7, vehicle business overplayed!
qbert replied to Daddy'o's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion

This is my tactic since I don't have alot of time to play DayZ. I just log on, eat the food I prepared from my last session, hit a farm/town for food/soda, and log off. I'm probably on only a few hours a week.

20 words or less: Spawning without a weapon
qbert replied to rocket's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
NO It would make every newly spawned player defenseless, meaning bandits who need food could just grind out 5 coast kills and be on their merry way. Simple melee would be nice. -
Very true. Though it's hilarious to prone after the bad ones miss a shot, and make them think you're dead. Then when they get close you pop up out of a bush and go "MOVE BITCH, GET OUT THE WAY" while unloading an AK into their chest.

I've been able to out-snipe every self proclaimed "sniper" with an M4/AK47. Full auto is good in hairy situations, semi is good for long range engagements. Huge monitor and low sensitivity DPI button on my mouse combined with AR's have saved my life more times then I can count.

What is your Personal Best for Longest Days Survived?
qbert replied to S1ippery Jim's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
3 IRL weeks. Had me a winchester, matches, knife, revolver, and I lived off the land and raided farmland for supplies like soda. At one point I had a permanent base of operation. I lost that character from world geometry :( -
It only really affects DayZ if you ask me. I don't know if the update thing was already done, but whenever my Arma2 military group gets together and plays a dusk/night mission we use NVG's so darkness levels are irrelevant to everyone except the DayZ playerbase. I honestly don't know what tone mapping is or what it does but I haven't noticed anything different.

Looks like everyones having a whale of a time.

ARMA 2 regulars and people who got it for DayZ

Remember when climbing hills made you prone? Good times... I still use the sideways strafe trick to this day. -
Buoy you're just full of jokes.

I don't always die, but when I do, it's because I used lazy tactics. Stay careful my friends.

There's really not much they can do to stop hackers, asides from the database ban for weapons the hackers can keep on hacking.. As far as idiots disconnecting to avoid a death, they're alot like this guy:

This doesn't really fit with DayZ and it'll probably never happen but the Fallout 3 power armor would be pretty awesome. Just for shits and giggles.
-
I find the zombie speeds acceptable, although I think the pathfinding is a bit buggered. Someone going on basal instinct woulldn't bob and weave/zigzag after their target, they'd throw themselves full force after that target and run straight into whatever they want to kill

Why does this thread still exist? Should have been a PM in the first place :\

You sir are a hero in the world of DayZ. this is awesome.

The female skins are sexist because they're attractive?
-
I think I've only died to a bandit twice, and that was because I went sprinting across the outskirts of a major city ignoring the fact that there were 50/50 players online. The rest of the time it's just a matter of moving silently and quickly from place to place, taking a tactical approach, which was what Arma and it's maps are designed for.

My Rant: Why I am Done with the Game.

Dammit, I got here too late to make a "brace yourselves" joke about all the angry replies to this thread. -

Why I play a female character even though I am a dude
qbert replied to gogozombie's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Women forum users... Amirite?! -
I hate to be the elitist DayZ douchebag here, but the majority are right. If an apocalypse hit us, at least half the survivors on the planet would be total assholes who just kill. We'd have anarchists, reveling in their victory, extremist religious groups, escaped convicts, teams of very bad people. In real life "survivors" would be the minority because the whole "Survival of the fittest" thing comes into play. Those that live the longest would be the people with ex-military or criminal experience. People who are used to killing. While bandits are a nuisance, they are really what makes this game fun. Every can of beans you loot out of a shack is worth something because at any moment a sniper could pick you off from a mile away.

Lately I've seen alot of people arguing over whether DayZ and CoD are similiar. The arguments go both ways, and I'm not here to make either argument. Instead, I am going to state the differences between the two. Maybe I'm being a devils advocate, or maybe I'm just bored. CoD: This game is a fast paced modern military shooter. It's unrealistic by many peoples standards but is still one of the most popular FPS games to date, with a stable multiplayer community, and yearly sequels. It's mostly hated by the PC community but has maintained it's composure due to the console-specific player base. It is often criticized for having a chunk of its players under the age of 15 years old. With so much negativity surrounding it's community, CoD has surprisingly kept to a formula that works well, which is to have solid gameplay, and multiplayer incentives to keep most players interested. It has an "Elite" DLC system, in which they regularly release more maps/content, to keep the multiplayer community busy. DayZ: This game is a modification for the game Arma and Arma:OA which are both primarily tactical FPS shooters running off of the VBS2 engine, developed by Bohemia. While being based off of a military training engine, it has been optimized for a mainstream audience and has it's own "niche" in the PC gaming community. After the DayZ mod alpha release sales went up remarkably, bringing attention to the PC specific shooter. DayZ is renowned (correct spelling?) for it's depth as a zombie game, including but not limited to scavenging for supplies, maintaining physical wellness, and navigating a harsh and hostile russian country-side, all while trying to survive other players. Being in the Arma engine makes this mod/gamemode one of the most realistic depictions of a zombie survival scenario, to date. With all that said, what are your opinions? Is there really an underlying CoD playstyle for some players, or is that just one group of players going against another groups playstyles? If it is the former, is this an appropriate thing for the game? Discuss. :)

For the millionth time magazines are NOT clips!
qbert replied to DJKhaled's topic in New Player Discussion
Well actually guys you're all wrong. The quantum molecular structure of the bullet requires that the gas in front hence therefore is forced out of the muzzle, meaning that the integrity of the air in front is compromised of both matter, and a form of powder that is a prerequisite of the inner workings of the muzzle flash, causing a chain reaction when it enters of exits the chamber. Trust me I'm with science.
