Yes although you're gonna have to either run bootcamp, and run XP/7 on it, or use Crossover to launch the game or do some funky application stuff. I'd recommend just getting windows on it.

Hate to be "that guy" but it's an alpha release of a mod. As we're "testers" testing an alpha patch, and as has been stated, it can have varied amounts of success. Clearly if a lot of people don't like this patch, and rocket will see the amount of negativity towards this patch and change things up if enough people speak up.

One would assume that if he really felt abused by the community and it was genuinely hostile towards him, that he'd probably stop interacting. The fact that he's been interacting with us shows that he gives a shit and most likely enjoys the time he's spent on the mod and on the forums. Also having it private with a limited amount of testers would be counter productive to the mod, as it's main attraction is the interaction with other players, and how the player characters are managed for persistence.

I love the Huey. It takes a little finesse getting it to fly as smooth as most modern birds, but the handling is great once you adjust to it. As others have said, it's much much older and the handling reflects that.

To the best of my knowledge, having it via Six Updater means that it relies on the program a little bit. I have a feeling we're not getting the full picture, like maybe it's one of those "Delete this folder, then install fresh with blah blah" situations. To delete the folder, and be warned, you ARE deleting the mod if you do this, you must have steam and Arma closed, and also Six Updater. This will ensure no processes can interfere. To take a step further, perhaps check if your Steam programfiles folder is enabled with read/write permissions. Also make sure you're an administrator on your system.

I'd like to voice input on the subject of the overlay discussion earlier, I run steam overlay, livestream, and fraps sometimes in unison and I've had no problems and probably never will. I don't know how battleye works (and I assume we're talkin about battleye here because of the recent stuff) but I would bet my beans that they have very specific parameters to follow when it comes to global bans. We're also talking about a system that will brick your game, which I would assume (and hope) is not taken lightly

Rocket please know that all of us legit players love you and the mod you and your team have created. Just wanted to say so because reading you and hackers going back and forth is like watching people throw tomatoes at an amazing street performer... Wish I was a millionaire so I could buy more copies of arma to balance out the amount of refunded ones.

I'm personally a "Carebear" by definition because I play for PvE. I find no fun in PvP in the DayZ mod because I can get enough gunplay in vanilla arma. I play the zombie mod for the zombies. I don't get the point of going to the airfield (which is really a hit/miss when it comes to surviving that trip), getting an M4, map compass, all that stuff, just to PvP with people. I mean come on, I could just play a regular Arma mission, start with the M4, and run around capping clan buddies in a PvP mission in cherno. The charm of DayZ (for me) is raiding farms/villages for food and shotgun shells to survive the next day. I want my short life to be a depressing lonely experience that gives me a better feeling of desperation then Fallout or STALKER ever could. I am a carebear because I have no interest in other players outside of these forums, and the only thing seperating me from other carebears is that I won't be found complaining about a playstyle I have no involvement in.

It's not just DayZ hackers either, it's ALL hackers. As in, every douche that comes onto regular Arma servers just to drop nuke hacks mid-mission, they're dealt with now too. Even if they come back, I'll be happy knowing that they had to pay even more money just to get their fix of griefing. We just get to sit and watch them struggle. I hope the folks at Bohemia can keep their BattleEye hack detectors updated enough to keep on dealing with them. I love this company. EDIT:Zed beat me to it, but it still stands, the effect on vanilla arma players has improved.

I used to think this tool was useless, then I took some time, checked it out and it's fucking amazing. I used this after my friends and I figured out we have incompatible versions of ACE to eachother, we got Six Updater, pressed like 3 buttons, and BAM. We all have fully updated ACE mods without bullshit web pages, mediafire links, or teamviewer. I'm using this for DayZ now as well. I LOVE THIS TOOL.

I'd recomend a glock. I watched FPSrussia do a video on it, and damn can it take a beating, while also holding more rounds. (18rnd clip vs 8? Citation needed of course)

IMO the safest way to do it would be in the green mountain radio tower. as far as I know it has one entrance, a tower with a damn nice vantage, not a terribly large amount of zed spawns, and it's double fenced. Snipers couldn't touch you because there's forest surrounding it, and they'd have to get close enough that the defenders could pick them off from the better vantage (in the tower) Only things that could be trouble is kamikaze chopper pilots, or a bandit team that socially engineers the command chain to cause anarchy. Or the entire server converging on green mountain.

Rocket should add a mechanic where your keyboard stabs you in the hand every time you die.
